Yeah, right... because some random gold buy here in America is totally driving global market prices. 😁
Sure, sure... as if gold buybacks here in America dictate global market prices 😁[/QUOTE

Of course they don't. But I assume the local buyback rate is just a reflection of the global market;
it's hardly an exclusive privilege for the US, is it?
If you think we're hitting the peak, you haven't got a clue how wrong you actually are.
Anyone dumping gold right now—unless they’re desperate for the cash—is going to be kicking themselves in a year or two...

How much of a drop are we looking at today? Maybe 20-30 bucks?

But nope, still no sign of any more Quantitative Easing. He keeps calling it an option, but if you ask me, there’s zero chance of anything happening before the election. If they actually pull the trigger before then, it just means we’re in deep trouble—total chaos. Plus, his rhetoric feels... off. It’s like the whole vibe of this situation has shifted completely compared to where we were just a month ago, right?

Morning!
Gold is heading straight for—and right through—$3500. Honestly, that’s the only thing that matters here. Everything else is just extra noise and useless drama meant to distract you. Jim 🙂 ☕

Some Friday laughs for you:

Looks like those trading algorithms finally overheated and burned out.

I could agree that it's awkward for Ben to pull the trigger on Quantitative Easing 3 before the election... however... the global situation is so dire that by the time the election rolls around, there might not be anything left to save.

That brings us to the issue in Europe...
And then there's China—they've committed to a $1.2 trillion stimulus package...
That creates a massive headache for Americans regarding the trade deficit with China and the dollar-yuan exchange rate...

Beyond that, we shouldn't forget that during the QE2 rally, the market started moving three months before Ben actually made the official announcement... and looking at the precious metals right now, it smells exactly like that.😍

We’re drifting into the third stage of this bull market, and honestly, things are about to get much tougher for traders. You’re going to need a heavier core position, preferably in physical assets—not just for security, but because you can actually hold physical stuff through the inevitable roller coaster. Today was a perfect example. Holding a heavy long position right before Ben's speech was basically just gambling. I’m guessing plenty of traders who don't quite grasp how bull markets evolve or where we are in the cycle tried to short this. Predicting the next move is tricky, but one thing is certain: the trend has shifted. Currency pair analysis suggests a rough climate for PMs in the short term, but if you take a quick glance at gold or silver, you'll see a totally different story. Right now, staying out of longs feels like too much of a risk.

If we get at least $3500 in this upcoming wave over the next two and a half years, and then after another correction like this one—once everyone decides the bull market is dead—we could see another surge like this, leading us right into the final bubble toward the end of the decade.

Reading the comments, I notice most of you are professionals or seasoned experts in identifying opportunities and trends... which is certainly not my case.
When I weigh everything up, the consensus seems to be that the price of
gold will continue to rise for a few more years. If, for instance, I had a few tens of thousands of dollars in savings, would it be a mistake to put half of that into gold for a period of two years?

There’s actually a pretty good chance you could get burned. For gold prices to keep moving up, you need a massive wave of new buyers hitting the market, and honestly, that seems less and less likely as time goes on.

Or just a few big players moving huge volumes. I think everyone realizes that once gold clears the $2,000 mark, the real heavy hitters start showing up. Right now? Those people are incredibly rare in the gold market. The Hedge funds are already positioned, sure, but they’re mostly just dipping their toes in with small percentages.

Does anyone have any insight into why silver prices have suddenly spiked over the last day or two?

First things first: invest some actual time into educating yourself. It’s pretty reckless to think about dropping $10k-$20k on something just because a bunch of people on an internet forum told you to, right?
Look, I'm not saying investing in gold and Silver is a bad play for the future—I've been tracking these metals since my college days back in the mid-2000s—but I'm telling you, go study the fundamentals first. This forum is loaded with data, articles, and endless posts backing gold and Silver, but you need to do some homework. Try to hunt down some actual analyses that argue *against* them before you make up your mind. I'm being dead serious here. For someone in our situation, we're talking about a massive amount of cash.

Sure, gold could skyrocket over the next two years, but it might just tank too. It all hinges on a million different variables and "what-if" scenarios that may or may not actually happen. That's exactly why you need to put in the work to understand how this stuff works.
If you're just looking for a rush, stick to a casino or a roulette table.
P.S. Just remember, gold and Silver can drop 20% in a matter of days.

Because gold jumped. Silver usually follows gold’s lead, just with more "oomph."

When it comes to the gold-silver ratio, buying gold is basically a play to preserve your purchasing power. Buying silver or mining stocks is where you hunt for extra profit—though both are wild rides with massive swings. If gold moves 5% in a day, silver can easily swing 10%. Plus, silver and miners carry extra baggage; since silver is an industrial metal, its demand gets shaky during recessions. Personally, I don't care much about the industrial side when we're talking physical Silver.

Things are going to get really loud in this little corner of the "alternative investments" forum once gold breaks past $2,000. 😁 ... we might go from being a cult to a full-blown religion at that point. :-)

quiettrucker12, don't go giving him bad advice here. 🙂 Silver hasn't been keeping pace with gold for years now; if anything, the trend used to be the other way around. 🙂
If you're buying physical bullion, it’s pretty straightforward—just buy it, bury it, and leave it alone for a decade.
But if you want to gamble with paper assets, you'd better have nerves of steel and be ready to lose everything when the market decides to go crazy.
And obviously, do your homework before you throw any money at this.

He made a solid point to his colleague... now he just needs to explain why gold spiked in the first place. 😂

Gold is the boss here. Silver tends to track the commodity index a bit closer—back in May 2011, both silver and the CRB/commodity indices hit their peaks at the exact same time. There’s this theory floating around that a silver bull market always stays way ahead of gold's, but honestly, I don't buy it. My take? The longer the bull market drags on, the less silver acts like an industrial metal and the more it just mimics gold instead of those commodity indexes.

😁

After the correction, gold needed some breathing room to find its footing. As we predicted, it went into a consolidation phase. That sideways grind lasted about a year, carving out a downward trendline, and now gold has finally broken out above it—though it could have just as easily broken lower.
