Andrew Barrett4 said:I suppose we’re looking at a pivot toward Nestlé now? It feels like one of those inevitable shifts where the conversation just drifts from one massive conglomerate to the next. I guess it makes sense, though—if you're going to track the movers and shakers of global consumer goods, you might as well go straight to the source. Maybe it's about seeing how they handle the current market volatility or just dissecting their supply chain logic. I don't know. It seems like a heavy topic to dive into, but I'm willing to follow along if that's where the consensus is heading.

So, I've been sitting here weighing my options, and I can't help but wonder if I should just take that capital and sink it into a decent metal detector instead. Maybe it’s a ridiculous thought—probably—but there's something to be said for hunting for something tangible, even if it's just a bit of lost copper or an old coin buried in some park in Chicago. It feels more honest than chasing whatever the next market fluctuation might be. Or maybe I'm just being cynical about everything else. Who knows? I guess we'll see. 🤣🤣

If you happen to stumble upon something... I mean, honestly, who is actually going to go out of their way to report you? It’s not like there's some massive task force sitting around waiting to flag every little thing. I guess it just depends on how much trouble you're looking to stir up, but most people are probably too busy with their own lives to care. Maybe. 😬 $.$ :kassa:

It’s kind of funny how history repeats itself, isn't it? I guess we saw something pretty similar happen back in the day when gold became this massive political hot potato over in the Netherlands. They basically passed the Emergency Financial Transactions Act, which gave the government the power to seize private assets from citizens, whether they were sitting at home or traveling abroad, if certain "emergency conditions" were met. And, of course, because nothing in government is ever straightforward, a special commission was left to decide exactly what those "emergencies" actually entailed. It's all very nebulous, I suppose. 😁.

After that, things really started picking up on the selling side—it felt like they were using this somewhat subtle strategy to move volume. I guess you could say it was a calculated push, though maybe it wasn't immediately obvious to everyone watching. 😁Even during those rough patches back in the late seventies and early eighties, when PM prices were climbing through the roof, things still held steady.

To put it simply—it looks like people have been offloading their gold regardless of what the economic trends actually suggest. I guess you could say the market signal isn't matching the underlying data, which feels a bit strange, if you ask me. Maybe they're just looking for liquidity, or maybe there's something else moving the needle that we haven't quite pinned down yet. It’s hard to say for sure, but the pattern seems pretty clear: the selling is happening no matter what the charts are doing.

The fallout from all this is that you’re rarely going to find an older investor—someone who actually remembers how things used to work—who’s willing to sink more than 10% of their net worth into physical assets. It doesn't even have to be because they're playing a defensive game; I guess it's just become the standard mindset.

By the way, that provision is still on the books. Like I mentioned before, it can be triggered whenever those emergency situations arise.
I suppose there’s some relevance to be found in the Emergency Financial Transactions Act of 1978, specifically looking at Article 26. I can't say for certain how much weight it carries in the current climate, but it's worth a thought, I guess. Maybe it matters more than we think, though I'm probably overanalyzing it.

There’s also some physical evidence—fairly recent, actually—suggesting that the Netherlands is basically prepping the ground for a potential seizure of PM. If anyone's actually interested in the details, I could probably walk you through it.

Could you maybe elaborate on that? I'm curious about what you mean by them "clearing the deck"🙂

The thought of what prices might do if they decide to seize it is genuinely unsettling. 😍

What kind of safe are you talking about? Give me a break. 😁
If I kept my stash in a safe, I’d be killing the one main reason I even bother holding it in the first place. 😉

I'm just teasing you... though, if you find yourself unable to offload that jewelry—say, because of some potential Federal Reserve ban on gold trading (and frankly, they don't even seem to grasp its utility 🙂)—just reach out. We can work out some kind of partial barter deal 😂.

Anyway, have you read the latest piece by M. A. yet? The one regarding stagflation... 😉

As for me—I’m planning on selling my bullion to those same "experts" from Wall Street who mocked investing in gold and silver just three years ago... I know exactly who they are, too. Of course, they'll be buying through intermediaries—it would be too much for their egos to admit they're buying from me.😂

Maybe I'll set a little portion aside for Bakić... 👏👏👏

Obviously... I wasn't saying it would be harder to sell to Americans 😬 when gold goes illiquid, we're basically looking at the end of the world anyway... so, I couldn't care less about that part.

But here's what's actually bothering me...
If I buy investment-grade gold locally from someone—whether it's this guy coming in from across the border or some other setup—how can I be sure I'm getting the real deal? If anyone has a solid recommendation based on actual experience, shoot me a PM. It's time I move beyond CFDs and get something physical to bury in the backyard. 🙂

thanks

Can someone explain why the dollar is tanking right now and where this is even heading? Like, is this just some election-driven manipulation?

I don't see things getting any better over in Europe.

I thought I was being smart buying some EURUSD at 6.16, but now everything is just sliding. I was really hoping it’d hit at least 6.5.

Thanks.

Look, your focus should really be on gold rather than the dollar—but even so, take a look at this chart and see if you can't draw your own conclusions about the direction and the "why" behind it.

Check the correlation between the EURUSD pair and the German DAX index; that should clear things up for you.
Basically, the European Central Bank’s decision (looks like it happened Thursday) to step into the bond markets for those debt-heavy countries gave investors a bit of breathing room. It's a temporary fix to prove the Euro isn't dead yet, though the long-term outlook is a whole different story. Markets reacted well, and when European stocks rally, the Euro tends to strengthen too—at least during periods when EURUSD is the main driver.

Believe what you want—it’s all connected.
It’s impossible to have a real conversation about gold without looking at how fiat currencies are actually performing.

The best proof is right there in the news from this past Thursday and Friday.

Yeah, fine, whatever. I’d have grabbed some bullion ages ago if it wasn't such a total mess to actually buy any of it here. Still, there are trends happening... we can see it jumped from 5.5 to over 6 in a really short window.

I don't know, maybe the US won't even make it through the fall looking like this. Feels like holding dollars is the safer bet, regardless of how much they drop.

I did. It was actually pretty interesting. Though, honestly, I’m more fascinated by this other term for what we're seeing in the economy right now—biflation.

If you actually want something, you just go out and grab it—rules and regulations be damned.😉

So, basically, according to you guys, if we hit hyperinflation or some massive credit crunch or whatever disaster strikes, the only way for banks to stay afloat is by looting gold straight out of their clients' private safes? Wow, what absolute nonsense from NHF. They couldn't care less about your gold; frankly, they wouldn't be able to save themselves in a crisis like that anyway.

The whole idea of the government seizing assets doesn't even make sense this time around because the USA isn't on the gold standard like it was back in the '30s. If they really wanted to move back toward that kind of system, they wouldn't go around confiscating everything—that’s just messy. Instead, they'd likely just peg the dollar to an ounce of gold at some fixed rate and then absolutely hammer you with a sales tax on gold—we're talking maybe up to 90%—and just call it a day. That's how it would work.

Look, I think Faber is a total legend, but I honestly don't get why she's always harping on about the USA confiscating its citizens' gold. It's just pure nonsense.

Duh, obviously. It doesn't even have to be a straight-up seizure. There are a million other ways they can screw you over with shady calls. Pretty sure we’ve already covered this.

It’s wild that Smith is actually a Hades supporter 😁
Then again, someone on our side decided to sell their gold at the absolute bottom... just brilliant.

It wasn't just "someone"—it was Roha... and he did it to the very people who handed him Governor of the Year.😂

Is that just pure pessimism—or are you actually looking to load up even more?😍
