The banks can always force metals down if they feel like it. There aren't even any actual market fundamentals driving them lower right now.
Not that it matters; nothing in the USA or the European Union has actually been fixed—if anything, things have just gone downhill.

If there's any indication of QE3 being announced tomorrow, I'm heading straight to my brokerage account to buy. Honestly, looking at the current landscape, I can't see a realistic scenario where things head lower, which is why I’m asking.
I'd certainly be interested in picking up more if we saw a dip, but it's always easy to play general after the battle is won. While I still hold onto the hope that metals might slide down to the $23 level, it’s starting to feel like wishful thinking...

You might want to jump in sooner rather than later. If history repeats itself like it did today, we could see a sudden $15 spike 🙂
I have no idea what you're basing those silver price targets on, but hey, dream on if it makes you feel better 🙂

Back on December 27, 2011, when silver was trading at roughly $28 per ounce and climbed toward the $35 range, I knew a correction was coming. I anticipated it would drop to the level I previously mentioned, and while I wasn't perfect, I was only off by about 10%. 😁 I also foresaw the downturn occurring prior to November 27, 2011. However, I am not particularly concerned, as I placed my primary investment just a few days before the end of 2009—essentially catching the absolute bottom of the market.

From what I can see, current circumstances suggest that gold and silver have become 99% safe bets at this stage. We are just waiting on tomorrow's confirmation from the US, given that we already received word from the EU today, right?

Specifically, is there any realistic scenario where precious metals could actually drop, as we have witnessed several times before? Are these questions focused on the short-term window leading up to the New Year, or even sooner?

There is definitely a possibility that metals drop... provided Ben disappoints the entire speculative crowd, or if Obama, for instance, decides to hike capital gains taxes before the election... and everything just goes into the red... and I mean a massive sell-off.

The real question is whether Bernanke and Obama are actually crazy enough to make such a kamikaze move, given the current state of the global economy.🤣

(discussions for 😉 )

Prices could still tank even if they wow the speculators. If people start ditching safe havens—which is basically what PM is right now—those prices will drop fast.

Bottom line: there are plenty of scenarios out there, and they don't always align with the fundamentals.
The fundamentals definitely support buying PM, but let's be real: analyzing fundamentals or technicals is one thing, actually trading is a completely different beast.

Ugh, this platinum stuff is driving me absolutely insane 🙂
Whether it’s QE3 or whatever, I’m putting my money on gold. Honestly, at this rate, I’ll probably end up finding a vein of it just sitting in my backyard in Ohio

Whenever those guys start saying things are looking up, that’s my cue to brace for impact—I’m pretty much certain everything is about to go south. 😍

So, I just stumbled onto this Bloomberg piece about how the economy’s been acting lately—specifically looking at that stretch from 2012 through 2015—and man, it really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? It’s one of those "hindsight is 20/20" situations where you look back at the data and realize how much we were all just collectively holding our breath. The whole vibe of the article is basically dissecting why the recovery felt so sluggish and weirdly inconsistent during those years. You know that feeling when the news says everything is "improving," but you look at your own bank account and think, *“Yeah, sure, buddy,”*? That was pretty much the consensus. There was this massive gap between what the big institutional numbers were telling us and what people were actually feeling on the ground in cities like Chicago or Philly. It talks about how the Fed was trying to play this delicate game of chicken with interest rates—trying to jumpstart growth without accidentally setting off an inflation firestorm. It’s kind of wild to read back and see how much uncertainty was driving the markets. Everything felt so tentative. We were moving from the wreckage of the Great Recession into this weird, tepid middle ground where nobody quite knew if the floor was solid or made of cardboard. Honestly, reading this makes me feel a little more cynical about the "recovery" narratives we get fed every single year. It’s easy to smooth out a graph to make it look like a steady climb, but the reality was way more jagged and frustrating for the average person just trying to pay rent. Just a lot of walking on eggshells while the big players in D.C. tried to figure out which lever to pull next. Typical.

Honestly, this whole setup with the Germans is pure genius. Now the Italians and Spaniards are stuck being the ones to pump that fund full of 30% capital—just so they can eventually turn around and try to grab a slice of the money themselves. Such a wild move. 😂Pure genius. Seriously. They hit you with one interest rate when you take out the loan, then just casually jack it up when they start charging you on the balance—it’s a total scam. Absolutely brilliant move on their part.

Why are gold and silver prices dropping? Even though the chart shows a slight uptick right now, has there been any recent news to trigger this?

So what’s he supposed to do? You can't just have constant growth; you have to dip a little now and then.
The deeper the drop, the better the entry point. Same goes for the upside.

There isn't... other than the fact that it just went straight down the drain.

Check out somewhere like www.netdania.com and just toggle the "view...show volume chart" option—that'll clear things up for you real quick. 😁
Oh, almost forgot.

So, tomorrow is the big day. By 5:00 PM, we should finally know which way this roller coaster is heading—either a massive climb or a steep plunge. I suspect there are quite a few of us here who would prefer to see it go straight down. 😁

If we see a correction coming, expect it to play out over about a month. That said, there's a good chance it’ll be nothing more than a minor dip, maybe landing somewhere around $1,700.

It was honestly painful watching The New York Times coverage yesterday, all that dramatic fanfare about finally adopting the dollar. And then having to listen to our Fed Chair drone on in that exact same self-congratulatory tone.

I’ve gotta say, this current governor is honestly pretty easy on the eyes, so I don't even bother listening to half of what he says 😍

Jokes aside, all this frantic shuffling from metals into currencies and stocks whenever news of this magnitude breaks... I guess it just highlights how neurotic and insecure investors actually are. It’s definitely not true that everyone actually knows how to 'ride the wave.'

He definitely leaves Bakić in the dust... he clearly understands the subject matter... his smile feels more genuine... and his logic isn't nearly as convoluted as Bakić's...

As for comparing them directly, I'll pass—I don't really have a metric for deciding which men are better or worse.😂

His only real hurdle is wanting to adopt the Euro, but he can't pull that off until certain requirements are met...
And once those conditions are satisfied, the real question is whether there will be anything left to implement.🤣

Once he actually checks those boxes, this song is gonna hit way too close to home.
