For nearly a decade now, I have been relying on the free version of TeamViewer—it’s been an absolutely stellar tool for me—and honestly, I have never run into a single issue before.
However, over the last few days, something strange has started happening; whenever I try to connect to another computer, the session just cuts out after about a minute, and I get this error message:
Failed to establish connection. Connection timed out due to session limits.
It claims my license has a limit on how long I can stay connected with a partner, and if I try to reconnect immediately, it blocks me entirely. It suggests I should try again later or upgrade to a paid license.

I am losing my mind here—I truly have no idea what changed or why this is suddenly happening all of a sudden. If anyone has any insight or could help me out, I would be incredibly grateful.

So, does anyone know if there's an update or a new version of the software out yet?

I just finished running the update, and yet again, I am staring at the exact same error message.
It honestly makes no sense to me why this is being blocked now—I have been using the application for free for years without a single issue.

Zoom is free for casual, occasional users, right? But the second they catch you actually using it regularly, they start throttling your connection length until it’s basically useless. If you take a ten-day break, they let you off the hook for a bit, then it starts up again. The newer versions are way more aggressive at tracking usage than they were a few years ago.
They track you via your hardware, your network card, all that stuff.
Maybe try running Zoom on a virtual machine? Might confuse them for a little while.

Is this happening to just one or two specific users, or is it hitting everyone during every single connection attempt?

It happens to the best of us, really.
However—I did reach out to their support department directly, and this was the response I received:
Thank you for your message.
Please know that using Zoom for personal Use is Free. There are instances where Zoom might incorrectly flag an account for commercial activity and restrict your connection—even when you haven't violated any licensing terms. To sort this out, please complete the form located within our community forums so our support team can assist you: https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/...cted/ta-p/5265 We review every single case thoroughly and will rectify the situation if the restriction was made in error.

I'm honestly a bit lost—I have no idea what they're actually trying to say here.

Basically, they’re saying the software glitched and flagged you as a business user by mistake, which is why it's cutting you off. They sent you a link to a form—just fill it out and send it to their customer service guys so they can fix those connection issues, provided you aren't actually breaking any rules and are just using it for personal stuff.

I only ever use it for personal stuff—mostly just helping out my sister and a few close friends
I honestly have no idea why they’d even suspect me

Try resetting the MAC address on your network card.
That’s another way Microsoft tracks usage.
There are plenty of tools online to handle that...

Man, if only he actually understood how to reset a PC's MAC address...
If anyone out there could walk me through it, I’d really appreciate the help.

I went ahead and clicked through all those links you sent my way—but honestly, it’s all so incredibly complicated that I’m having a hard time figuring out how to actually execute any of it.
I was really hoping someone might have the patience to walk me through the steps rather than just tossing a bunch of links at me...
Regardless, I appreciate the effort you put into it.

Try looking up a program called "macshift." That should be pretty straightforward. Sorry, I don't have the time to walk you through every single step...

I’d honestly just tell you to grab AnyDesk since it's free—it'll work way better than LogMeIn.

Don't you have to mess with firewall settings or deal with public IPs for that one?

For crying out loud, LogMeIn keeps cutting me off after just one minute of work! They’re claiming I’m using it for business, which is a total load of crap.
I honestly only hop on it once in a blue moon to help out some family members with tech stuff.
I reached out to them and they told me I need to fill out some random form, but I can't find anything on this link they sent over.

Here’s what they said:
Please know that using Zoom for personal Use is Free. There can be cases where LogMeIn incorrectly detects commercial use and limits your connectivity even though you don't violate the license conditions. Please fill out the form that can be found in our community and our support team will help you further: https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/...cted/ta-p/5265 We investigate every case and will resolve the issue if it has been limited by mistake.
