Basically, the whole insurance industry is such a total circus right now that policyholders are pulling off absolute miracles 😵 that honestly seemed totally impossible just a little while ago 🐔

The rates have dropped so ridiculously low it’s actually insane—I can barely wrap my head around it, and it feels like there's no bottom in sight 🤔

That’s because a huge chunk of these claims are being settled through collision coverage. It’s just easier, cheaper, and avoids all the heavy questioning from the cops.

Wait, what am I hearing? If someone actually causes an accident that ruins my life, there is absolutely no way I’m just letting that slide through some petty little lawsuit or small claims court—why on earth would I? I mean, maybe if the person responsible is some total stranger you can't track down, then sure, I guess that's the only time it makes sense. But honestly, treating a serious situation like it's just some big joke is just as bad.

I wouldn't say that's quite how it works, 😒

The vast majority of cars on the road don't even carry full collision insurance 🙂
and since premiums are skyrocketing for everyone—mostly because we're losing money on more and more of those policies lately...

Basically, looks like we've got another brutal year ahead of us.🐔

Hey everyone,

So, I’m registering my first car. I'm 22, the thing puts out about 103 horsepower, and it's a 2006 model—if any of that actually matters... Does anyone have a ballpark idea of what the mandatory liability insurance is going to run me? Like, what's the absolute cheapest way to get covered without getting totally ripped off?

Over here, you can check rates from our various partners and pick up a policy directly—they happen to be some of the most competitive prices on the market. Feel free to head over to our auto insurance page; we hope you find exactly what you need! 🙂

Here is my glowing recommendation for Komapre.hr. I am seriously impressed! Before signing up, I spent ages emailing various insurance companies for quotes—mostly because I had such a bad run with Euroherac. Their agent tried to sneak in an extra fee, claiming it was some new industry standard, but after checking with another provider, I realized she was totally pulling my leg. Live and learn, right? This time, I did my homework and used Komapre.hr to insure my car—no hiccups at all—and ended up saving 40% compared to last year. Seriously, 40%! I even picked the policy a few days early so it kicks in right when the old one expires—that way, instead of just showing up to the DMV with a printout, I actually had the official policy ready to go. It’s such a relief to finally have a service like this that stops those big corporate insurance giants from overcharging us and actually gives people real options! I’m going to drop this note on all the auto insurance threads because people need to know. I know it might look a bit out of place appearing right after the official Komapre.hr post, so there might be some skeptics, but it's easy enough to check my history and see I'm not just a bot or anything.

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well.

Has anyone here dealt with setting up an auto insurance policy without having the actual license plate number ready yet? I'm curious if you had any smooth or messy experiences with that.

Here’s the situation: I’m looking at buying a brand-new car straight from the dealership. Since it hasn't been registered yet, it doesn't have plates. To cover the risk while driving it from the lot to get the inspection and registration done, I heard you can sometimes start a policy using just the VIN and maybe a placeholder like "New York City" instead of a specific plate number.

Is that actually doable, and is it totally above board legally?

New cars usually roll out of the dealership with temporary tags and a short-term insurance policy that lasts about 15 days. Dealers typically handle all of that. You just get the inspection and permanent registration/insurance sorted within that window.

So why pay extra?
I eventually realized there's no point in paying more than necessary. For my new car straight from the showroom, I made sure I had both liability and comprehensive coverage ready to go. I just picked up the keys and called it a day... though I did have to send over a photo from the dealership to prove the car hadn't been dinged up before I drove it off the lot.

I don't see an option for comprehensive coverage on Komapre.hr?
How does one even go about sorting that out—assuming it can be solved—and which insurance carriers actually offer it?

Thanks

You can get it from pretty much any insurance provider, though I guess it just makes the most sense to bundle your collision coverage with your basic liability policy at the same place.

I know 🙂
I was thinking about checking Yelp to see if I could snag a better deal—maybe even find some collision coverage, though I don't see an option for that here.

Anyway, I heard through the grapevine 🙂, apparently you can get the collision coverage sorted out after all.

I disagree entirely. That’s actually not how it works most of the time—bundling mandatory coverage often makes the collision part more expensive, and vice versa.

For instance, last year I set up my liability through Allianz (they give you a great safe-driver discount for free), but I took out my collision coverage through AT&T... any other way I tried to mix and match them ended up costing me at least $500$333 more...

In previous years, State Farm offered me an incredible collision policy, but they jacked up the rates by 50% last year. So, I gave them the boot and switched to AT&T, where I ended up paying$233 less while still getting full coverage, including theft protection for the car.

Personally? I don't feel like I'm paying a dime for my full coverage... actually, I know I'm coming out ahead. You guys are paying more to the insurance companies than I am to you.

If prices keep climbing, I paid $1,700 last year, but a couple of years ago $433..

I still remember back when things really hit the fan four years ago and you had to cough up a fortune $4000😁, then again $1933, then last year $1300, and honestly, this year is going to be just as painful as what I shelled out last time.😁

Hey there,

I’ve been sitting here wondering about the whole concept of policy coverage—specifically, when you actually have protection written into your contract, what exactly does that cover? Does it actually hold water when things go south, or is the whole thing just some elaborate scam designed to separate us from our money?😁

Just wanted to shake things up here and see what you guys have been going through with insurance companies lately.
I've been hunting for some liability and collision quotes for my car, and man, the price swings are wild. I really need to dig into the fine print too, because it doesn't make much sense when the collision coverage jumps by as much as $667... gotta figure out if those cheaper options are actually worth it or if they're just cutting corners on the coverage.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who's signed a policy in the last month or so. Rates seem to be shifting every single week, so anything from a few weeks ago might look totally different from what we're seeing now. Here’s what I’m looking at right now:

GEICO
liability-$487
collision-$1433
Allianz
liability-$507
collision-$1867
State Farm
liability-$400
collision-$1333
Progressive
liability-$450
collision-$1233
Atlantic
liability-$600
collision-$1167

What was the sticker price on the new car?

For me, Everest was the cheapest two weeks ago.

I spent several years insured with Allstate, and honestly, the experience was perfectly ordinary—nothing out of the ordinary.
Now, thanks to the same agent who handled my Allstate policy, I have transitioned over to State Farm.
While I wouldn't go so far as to say there has been a massive shift in service, my premiums have actually decreased, though they have added a few minor perks that I likely won't ever find a use for.
