Which version of the ActiveX Control are you running on your Windows 8? And more importantly, can you actually get those forms signed successfully?

Greetings to everyone. I've been attempting to access the e-regos pages all day long, but I keep running into this particular roadblock:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /rs on this server.
Apache HTTP Server AT example.com port 443

Does anyone happen to know what might be causing this?🤷

I have no clue what's actually going on under the hood here, but honestly? If you haven't already, just shut the computer down completely and start from scratch. I know, I know—it sounds like one of those "have you tried turning it off and on again" clichés that everyone rolls their eyes at, but sometimes that's exactly what does the trick. It’s like when a car engine just needs a quick reset to stop acting finicky. It feels a bit silly, sure, but hey, it works sometimes!

Whenever I run into a glitch with the IRS website, I just take a quick PrintScreen of the error message and shoot it over to them via email. It’s super easy. info@example.comThey eventually give me a call back and help me sort everything out. Honestly, though, trying to get through to them on those 1-800 numbers is enough to drive anyone up the wall. You just sit there waiting forever. It’s like waiting in line at the DMV on a Monday morning—you know you have to do it, but the hold music just makes you lose your mind.

Do you think your security certificate might have expired??

I'll probably need to deal with that soon myself. 😁

Does anyone know how you actually go about renewing one?

That error usually pops up when the reader—and by extension, the certificate itself—isn't being recognized by your browser. Which one are you using?

Brenda Gomez89 said:I really need some help here,

I just picked up a new PC running a 32-bit Windows 8 system, and I am hitting a massive wall with the IRS website. Everything works perfectly fine in Internet Explorer 10 right up until the moment I try to sign a form, and then I just get hit with an error saying the form isn't signed.

I’ve already tried installing Java 7.21 and then upgrading to Java 7.45, plus I have done a complete, clean reinstall of ActivClient multiple times now.
I can't even get the reader to load at all in Firefox.
Even when I actually manage to force the DLL to load in Firefox, things just break again—either Chrome tells me there is "no active reader" or Firefox claims "no certificate selected."

The IRS keeps insisting the issue is my certificate and telling me to call the Treasury, but I honestly don't buy it because this exact same card works flawlessly on my old Windows 7 machine using Java versions 7.45, 7.21, or 7.17. Now the Treasury is blaming the IRS application and Java, and they're just passing the buck back and forth.

Personally, I'm starting to think that their DLL just isn't compatible with Windows 8, or at least not fully.

Is anyone else actually getting the IRS site to work on Windows 8? Does anyone have a clue where I should even start looking for a fix?

Now you're making me nervous. I just got a new laptop with Windows 8, and I know the developer had issues with the 64-bit version, so he switched things over to 32-bit. Honestly, I have no clue what I'm talking about—this whole thing is Greek to me. We tried logging into the Treasury and the IRS sites, and everything seemed fine, but I haven't actually tried signing anything yet.

It would be a huge relief if the payroll software doesn't crash on the 31st right before the deadline.

Please try signing a blank ID form on the IRS site. If that actually works, let me know which version of ActivClient you've got installed on your machine.

You just fill out the application for the certificate issuance and then head over to the Department of the Treasury with your card in hand.

When I was renewing mine last time, the clerk mentioned that we could probably handle the renewal ourselves online by following the instructions on the Department of the Treasury website, but I honestly couldn't find those specific steps anywhere. So, I decided to just take a quick stroll over to see the lovely, polite, and super friendly staff at the local 😉
branch.

Morning. Still hitting the same wall, I'm afraid.
I've been sticking with Discovery because the others just haven't had the resources to handle this properly. The certificate is valid; I've been using this setup for over a year now, but lately, it’s just been one headache after another. It feels like their end is becoming increasingly unstable.
I suppose I'll try sending an email over to Goldman Sachs...

Everything works fine for me—though I have zero clue which version of ActivClient I’m even using... I can't figure out where to check... honestly, I still haven't gotten used to Windows 8; compared to Windows 7, this thing is just a headache. I heard some rumors they might release an add-on to make it act more like the desktop version, so fingers crossed...

I actually received those instructions via email. It’s not complicated; it walks you through everything step-by-step.

Otherwise, my tax software was predictably down on Wednesday—shout out to my programmer, I guess, though God knows what he was doing. Then, I go to file more IRS forms on Thursday because it's the end of the month, and of course, it's broken again. I’m losing my mind; they change things practically every single day.

Right from the start, as soon as you load the form and Java kicks in to show you page one, it just displays a blank screen with a little "X" at the top. It acts like Java isn't even there or something. My programmer had to click around a bunch of different spots before it finally worked.

I keep getting this constant prompt telling me I need to install a newer version of Java (right now I’m running 7.17), but everything is working perfectly fine, so I have no intention of changing it...
How can I make this stop? It’s driving me crazy having to type "lether" over and over again.

Importing from outside the US... I've got my VAT calculated on the import, but when I try to plug it into field II.14, it throws an error—apparently saying it’s not allowed until the new regulations under Article 76 of the Value Added Tax Act kick in.

Does this mean imports from overseas are tracked strictly through customs—meaning we don't actually list the tax liability or the input credit on the VAT return at all???

I’m not at work right now, so I might be talking nonsense here, but I honestly think what you've got there belongs in section III.6.

Yeah... exactly—it pays out and then just cycles back, there's no obligation involved... ugh, it's driving me absolutely crazy... 🙂 I definitely need the annual report, obviously... thx[/QUOTE]

Don't let it get to you. When I first started dealing with this stuff, it took me a few hours just to wrap my head around it. I couldn't figure out why we were paying such a massive amount of Value Added Tax at the end of every month compared to our old numbers—especially since import taxes usually just cancel each other out to zero, right? It took me forever to finally click.

How’s everyone finding the IRS website today?
Is it acting up for anyone else, or is it just me?

Ugh, I am seriously losing my mind here—I can’t even log in! I keep getting this stupid system error telling me to close every other browser and try again, but nope, even after doing exactly that, it still won't let me through... It was working perfectly fine at 11:00 AM, but now? Total blackout. Does anyone know how I'm supposed to file my Value Added Tax Act paperwork if the site is acting like this?

It’s giving me an error message too, or rather, I just can't get into the service right now. I was actually planning on reaching out about that exact thing myself.

Best regards to everyone here!
