Anthony Gonzalez17 said:Whatever you do, stay far away from installing Java 8 U60; the IRS website itself is explicitly warning users that they’re running into major technical glitches 😢
. I mean, seriously, when is our federal government finally going to stop relying on Java? It is completely and utterly obsolete at this point...

Yet, without the latest Java update, you can't sign electronic documents or even log into Treasury applications. 🍿

Since September 1st, 2015, Google Chrome has been killing off NPAPI support. I switched over to Internet Explorer and haven't run into any issues at all.

Mozilla Firefox is an absolute disaster of a browser. Only my banking services work on it; when it comes to the IRS portal, it simply fails to locate my certificate—even though I followed every single instruction and ensured the certificate was properly installed in the browser. 🤦

I fail to understand why our federal institutions continue to force Java upon us when surely more modern and efficient programming languages exist. Given the changes coming on September 1st, 2015, should we not be bracing ourselves for absolute chaos?

Matthew Cruz41 said:Are you guys seeing any movement on those SNU forms? Mine have just been sitting there marked as "received" since late July 🙄
I had every intention of cleaning up all these messy, disconnected payments and paperwork while things were slow, but it looks like nothing is moving until September. Meanwhile, employees won't stop asking about their tax refunds because the IRS told them they can't get anything back until all the payments are properly reconciled 🤦

It’s actually similar for me; my adjustment request from July is still showing as pending, even though it’s already been accounted for on my main payroll card (I had an overage, so I just applied it toward interest). Since everyone is out on vacation right now, I suppose it’s no surprise that things aren't exactly being updated in real-time...

So, where do I even begin with this?

Is it worth the headache to install a fresh version of Java, or should I just leave things as they are?

And when it comes to browsers—are we talking IE, Chrome, or Firefox?

🤦

I’d love to hear what you all have been dealing with lately regarding stability and performance.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I’m still running an old version of Java on Chrome, but my husband actually just set me up with IE for the future—since Chrome is eventually going to ditch that Java plugin... he tried using Mozilla, but we ran into some annoying certificate loading issues, so we just decided to switch over to IE...

I’ve been using IE practically since its inception, though I really only rely on it for those specific "e" tasks. I always keep Chrome tucked away in my back pocket just in case IE decides to act up. Honestly, IE isn't much good for anything else, but when it comes to handling my professional business, it’s always done the job just fine without any headaches.

I was wondering if anyone else has had their sales tax returns processed yet? I guess mine hasn't quite cleared through the system just yet 🙄

Just email the gross balance sheet over to the clerk and ask them to post it—if you really need it done right now.

Does anyone know which version of Internet Explorer I actually need to run the tax software on Windows XP SP3? I can't even locate my current IE because I've been living in Chrome lately, but every time I try to download version 8, the system just insists I already have it installed.

(Wind.8) Chrome is still holding up fine, but I just couldn't get Mozilla to behave the way I wanted it to. Everything was working smoothly in File Explorer until today, when I decided to install a new version of Java 8. Now? It’s a mess. File Explorer claims there's no certificate. To be precise, it actually finds the certificate, I confirm that it's the one being offered, and then—nothing. Just that little warning triangle popping up again telling me the certificate is missing. What am I supposed to do now? Everything was working perfectly just a few minutes ago, right before I messed with the Java installation...
Does anyone have any thoughts on what my next move should be?
(Chrome works without a hitch...)

Well, if you check the IRS website, they've posted a specific notice regarding the e-filing system and the recent Java update.

Notice to e-filing users

We are notifying all users of the e-filing system that instructions have been provided for those currently utilizing the latest Java 8 version. All users relying on this specific version will encounter significant technical difficulties when attempting to access e-filing services.

I’ve been using Chrome to handle my eporezna filings until now, but suddenly it just won't work anymore. I tried switching over to File Explorer, but that’s failing too. It keeps demanding a newer version of Java, even though I already installed one. Then, I saw some instructions suggesting that File Explorer actually needs an older version of Java to function properly. I'm totally stuck... does anyone have any clue how to fix this?

Nutella—is there any other substance that can truly command such universal devotion? It is a phenomenon, really—that velvety, hazelnut-infused indulgence that seems to find its way into nearly every pantry across America. One has to wonder, what is it about that specific combination of cocoa and sugar that triggers such an immediate, almost visceral craving? It is more than just a spread; it is a staple of the American breakfast ritual. As specified by Robert Sanchez6:
Tuesday is my deadline for submitting the paperwork—and frankly, I am at a complete loss as to how I am going to pull this off.🤔

The IRS just posted this update on their website earlier this morning:

Notice to users of the IRS online portal.
We would like to inform all users of the IRS digital portal that a new version of the application has been released—one that now fully supports operation via the Google Chrome web browser. To ensure you can utilize Google Chrome seamlessly while navigating the IRS platform, you will need to install a specific Google Chrome extension from the Web Store, along with its required software support package. Please be advised that installing this software support requires administrative privileges on your computer. If you do not have administrator rights—which is often the case in corporate environments—installation will be restricted, and you must contact your internal IT help desk to proceed. For those seeking further clarity, detailed instructions can be found in the "Google Chrome Installation Guide."

I need to do the exact same thing today. Anyone mind giving me a quick rundown on where to find them and what's required? 😉

I logged into the IRS portal just like I always do, fully intending to sign and submit the tax forms I had sitting there ready to go. But before I could even click a button, the system hit me with an automated prompt for some software installations... and then it started dragging me through this step-by-step setup process like I didn't know what I was doing.

"We'll see about that," they said. Famous last words. 🙂
I installed an extension from the web store because our accountant is out today. Now I'm just praying she doesn't call me while this thing is running. 😁

🎉🙂 I finally managed to get those add-ons installed. The form submission is all set and sent off for a full review. I’m sending and signing everything tomorrow, so I really hope there aren't any more headaches.👍

I followed every single instruction to a T, and everything seemed to go perfectly fine. But of course, it doesn't actually work 🙂. Once I pick the XML file, it just hangs on "please wait" forever. It’s just stuck in an infinite loop. Anyone else dealing with this, or does anyone have a fix?

I'm running this on Windows 7, but when I try it on my old XP machine, I just get an error saying the support application isn't a valid 32-bit app...
