Henry Edwards33 said:I just got off the phone with the IRS headquarters regarding my access to the online tax portal. Apparently, there’s a massive glitch involving digital certificates that were renewed after December 7, 2015.
They honestly have no clue how or when they'll actually get this sorted out.

At this point, I’m completely lost on what I’m supposed to do about all these mandatory filings. 🤷

Don't worry—you'll be able to file those forms retroactively.
A new notice was just posted on the Harvard University website.

Important Notice to Users Regarding Partial Unavailability of the Online Tax Return Service
Due to technical difficulties, the online tax return service is currently unavailable for users with the new RDC profile certificates—specifically those with certificates issued or renewed after December 7th, 2015. Any users unable to submit their tax returns and required forms within the legal deadline due to these technical failures will be permitted to file them once the issues are resolved, without facing any penalties for late filing. Additionally, payroll departments that are unable to electronically submit their Joplin forms due to these glitches may proceed with payroll processing and subsequently submit the Joplin forms; such submissions will be officially recognized as having been filed on time.

Hey everyone! I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction because I’m feeling a little lost here lol. So, my digital certificate for those business services just expired, right? And I went ahead and renewed it—totally thought I was being proactive! But then, when I logged into the IRS portal, everything was just... gone. Like, all my authorizations for the different companies I work with have completely vanished from my dashboard. Now I’m sitting here panicking wondering if I actually have to go through the whole headache of tracking down every single power of attorney again and physically mailing them to the IRS, or if this is just some weird technical glitch happening behind the scenes? If anyone’s dealt with this kind of digital nightmare before, please let me know! Thanks so much for the help

Thanks. About an hour before this notice dropped, we actually called the main headquarters and gave some lady there a hard time about how their system was making it impossible for us to meet our legal obligations and blah blah blah...
Then this announcement shows up, and now we're just sitting here laughing. 🤣

That's just an IRS glitch.😉

You'll be waiting a long time if you expect them to fix the IRS portal anytime soon.

Hi everyone, does anyone have any insight into why the IRS portal won't let me sign something like an OPZ-STAT-1 form? Everything went through perfectly fine last year when I was signing my tax returns, and it's really confusing. I actually renewed my digital certificate back in January, and since then, I haven't had any issues submitting or signing my other filings, but suddenly everything feels sluggish and it just won't allow me to complete the signature process...

I'm running XP and using Internet Explorer for the IRS site... please help

Typical. The server is acting up again. I can't even get my digital signature to work on 😉

I managed to squeeze a few forms through, though. It’s basically just a game of pure, stubborn persistence at this point. 🤦

They were doing system upgrades over the weekend. Today is when all the Joplin filings for per diems and those new small business fees are due, so obviously, the server capacity is being crushed by a poorly designed system. It’s glitching everywhere—throwing fake certificate errors or just crashing entirely.
I've been trying to submit four Joplin forms for two hours now.

In short, don't trust anything the site tells you today. Just wait until things settle down. Your deadline for the stats isn't until the 20th, so you've got some breathing room.

I’ve been running into the exact same issues. My employer was having a nightmare trying to get the tax withholding forms signed, everything has been moving at a snail's pace, and now I can't even manage to log in at all...

Finally got things moving properly.... four guys have been grinding since this morning just to get about one done an hour—it was such a struggle—but now I'm firing off a final one every single minute almost...

Is it actually possible, assuming we're talking about a brand-new startup here, to just hand over the signature cards and powers of attorney to NOAA and Medicare first, and then handle the BlackRock filing through the standard channels later? Of course, I’d be attaching all the necessary documentation—the Articles of Incorporation, everything else required by law. It feels to me like I could probably breeze through the NOAA requirements that way, but honestly, Medicare is a total black box when it comes to Form 1.

I’ve already knocked out the DOH form, the long-term asset list, the excise tax calculation, and the breakdown of all my business income and expenses from 2015. What else am I missing for the IRS, and how do I actually get this stuff turned in?

Should I do it through the IRS website or just head down to a local field office?

Just so we're clear, this is all for my small restaurant business.

What about the local tourism fees? If you run a hospitality business, they should be tracking those based on your industry code.

You can handle the tourist registration and the fixed asset reports via the IRS portal, but for everything else, you’ll likely need to drop them off in person.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't submit my tax return? I've gone through the whole process—filled everything out properly, passed the validation check, added the digital signature—but every single time I hit send, the system throws an error message saying there's a mistake in the form data or that the submission failed. It then suggests I contact technical support for further assistance. 🙂 This has been happening since last night, and even just a few minutes ago, it was the exact same story. 🤔 It’s incredibly frustrating because when I was trying to file this past Thursday, I had to deal with a mountain of error messages myself, yet once I pushed through, it went through without a hitch.

I am experiencing the exact same frustration with the tax declaration; I pass the validation and the signature steps, only to be told upon submission that I must reach out to technical support.

What is actually going on with this filing system—is it simply overloaded servers, or perhaps something more systemic? 🤔

I managed to push one DI through successfully, but this first one I've been wrestling with since yesterday just won't budge. I've tried deleting and restarting the whole process twice 😵. Eventually, I just threw my hands up and sent them a message with a screenshot attached—now I'm just sitting here waiting to see if anyone actually responds...

Just tell me what the issue is; it’s most likely on their end... 🍿

My figures are currently sitting below $1167, which might be why the system won't let me submit the DI form.

Are your numbers trending lower or higher than $1167?

They're higher—one item was actually purchased back in 2015, so I'm wondering if there's some glitch with the depreciation rate;
all in all, it's just a massive waste of time dealing with these mindless forms.👎
I'll touch base if I figure anything out.

Well, I just got word that the glitch was fixed, so I went back in and successfully submitted the 🎉 form. Honestly, I’m just annoyed at how many hours of my life I wasted on this nonsense. 🙂

The same occurred on my end today. I find myself wondering, however: is this a widespread issue affecting specific forms that cannot be submitted over the weekend, or am I simply looking at an isolated incident—perhaps a localized server outage at the IRS? 🤔

The IRS is perpetually adrift in a sea of incompetence, seemingly incapable of maintaining any semblance of stability within their digital infrastructure. One can never truly know what to expect when logging on; it is a constant cycle of systemic glitches and inexplicable technical failures. Furthermore, one must contend with the fact that Google Chrome has finally abandoned support for Java, adding yet another layer of frustration to an already broken process. Is it too much to ask for a functional interface? 🍿
