Piquet always had a bit of an edge over Ayrton Senna. They didn't cross paths for many intense battles in F1, if I recall correctly... maybe just that one instance at Hungaroring back in '86 when Piquet was driving a powerhouse Williams while Senna was struggling in a subpar Lotus. Later on, the roles reversed—Senna had the dominant McLaren while Piquet was stuck in a weak Lotus, which led to him calling the guy a "taxi driver from Sao Paulo." In the end, it felt like Senna simply stole his spotlight...

He actually competed in tournaments and holds a black belt.

I'm not really a Formula 1 fan, but I have massive respect for legends like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. Both of them had such tragic ends... I've got some buddies from Brazil, and they tell me Senna is actually a bigger icon there than any soccer player, and that's saying something since Brazil is basically the heart of soccer.

The actual fans were split up—like, 20% Prost, 20% Nigel Mansell, 20% Nelson Piquet, 20% Ayrton Senna, and 20% Michael Schumacher. Give or take a few Berger, Rosberg, or Alezi fans, maybe a random Brundle thrown in there.

Look, for example—if Lewis Hamilton were to suddenly vanish tomorrow, I guarantee you this mythomania wouldn't spread among Alex Barnes93, Fortinbras, the angels, Jim Clark, or the rest of those... uh, sorry, the haters.

Instead, it would spread through the basketball crowd, football fans, the tech nerds, the indie kids, religious groups, politicians, and even pet owners.

Ayrton Senna... Man, it's been 27 years already; time just flies. He was a killer driver for his era. Such a bummer he left us so early, too, because seeing him go head-to-head against Michael Schumacher would've been absolutely legendary.

Just because I don't root for him doesn't mean I'm a hater... sorry, meant "non-fan." It’s just that I refuse to swallow all that nonsense about how hard Lewis had to fight in that Mercedes against Alpine or Aston Martin or AlphaTauri. Or that whole line about how the Mercedes wasn't dominant then or ever, just to make Hamilton's wins look more deserved. Honestly, even some of the bottom-tier tabloids like the New York Post wouldn't be embarrassed to print such garbage. If Lewis were American, people would be acting like his second-place qualifying finish was some kind of golden miracle. Classic stuff...
