Which ones? You mean what that manchild wrote, or my own attempts at calling people out if they ever try that stuff with me?
Because honestly, I’d do it—even if it was the very last thing I ever did at this school.

By being a total jerk about it. Basically, this old lady kept picking on these kids and insulting them because classes were held on Saturdays when the local bus system was a joke. Buses barely ran, so students would constantly explain why they were running 15 minutes late, but she didn't care. After two months of her basically gaslighting the kids and messing with their heads, they finally just gave up and walked out.

So don't come at me acting like some saintly nun. You're asking what the district would do? Nothing. Just like they always do.

I honestly wonder what his plan is if his students just decide to stop showing up entirely because they're done with chemistry. Would he actually bother filing the truancy reports, or would he just shrug his shoulders and pretend it isn't his problem?

Look, if you don't want to teach, don't. At least then you wouldn't have students who actually give a damn about the subject.

Yeah, that’s why I added "if school is in session" to the ballot 😁

The inspectors are always siding with the parents anyway.

Let me tell you how much stuff those inspectors have thrown out during retake exams...

Like, they once tossed an entire test just because someone forgot to put the date in the little box.

So much for "accountability."

Hahaha, and Child Protective Services? Give me a break. Every single time things go south, they pull the same old crap and claim no reports were ever filed. Stop being so dramatic.

And what did the investigators actually find with Milanović and Latin? That’s all I know about these inspections.

We’re getting screwed, not the parents.

But that wasn't even the issue back then, it was when I was still in school 😉

From that two-year elective course, all I got out of it was learning five different declensions, and honestly, that's it.

And don't even get me started on those Saturday classes. A total disaster.

That woman should have been reported to the school board for being so disrespectful.

Could we please try to stay on topic regarding full-day school schedules? Thanks!

USA Today just released the school list. Only two schools from New York City made the cut. A relief for us back home... if anyone actually cares. New York City only submitted Jabukovac Elementary School and Ivan Cankar Elementary School.

"The schools in the Midwest want this reform more than anyone—there are only two in Washington, D.C., and not a single one in Miami or Seattle!"
I love a city with some flow 😍 🙂

It looks like they just ripped this whole article from USA Today; nobody seems to have an actual accurate list, just some rough estimates:

Seriously? So the staff over at Apple Valley find out through the news. 🙏

Everyone was swearing up and down that Apple wasn't going into China, but look at them now, they're actually doing it.

If the USA actually follows through with this, I suspect we’ll see a massive surge in demand for alternative education models, specifically homeschooling. Given the sheer chaos we've been witnessing over the last few days, it feels almost inevitable.
It would be a welcome move if they finally legalized homeschooling nationwide.

Homeschooling? What does that actually yield? A bunch of socially awkward kids. Before jumping into an experiment like this, we really should have focused on making school a place where kids actually want to be, rather than a high-stress pressure cooker—something plenty of American psychologists are already sounding the alarm about. Apparently, one in three students is struggling with some form of anxiety these days. I just hope they include student satisfaction levels in the metrics for this pilot program. And teachers, too. Their well-being matters just as much.

Socialization doesn't have to happen exclusively within the four walls of a classroom. Homeschooling could be a vital lifeline for children with special needs, those dealing with severe bullying, or students who simply can't attend school in person for various reasons.

We’re looking at an epidemic of mentally ill children—it is a serious pathology. We're seeing a surge in suicides, including severe attempts where kids barely survive, often leaving them with permanent disabilities.
Child and adolescent psychologists and psychiatrists are completely overwhelmed; I mean, they are bursting at the seams. You might wait months just for an initial consultation. There aren't enough hospital beds for inpatient care, either. Even if you go to a private clinic, getting a quick appointment is becoming nearly impossible.
There is a pilot program launching now to bring child psychologists into the FBI, which—if I'm being honest—is something I welcome.
Given this context, and considering how the CIA operates, homeschooling should be allowed, sure, but only in extreme cases. It needs solid arguments, recommendations from a professional team, and actual medical documentation. It shouldn't just be something a parent decides on a whim because they feel like it.

The mental health of our children should have been the centerpiece of this reform. Instead, everything revolves around EU funding.

Is it really any surprise that parents from rural areas have a greater need for full-day schooling? Looking at this list from the Midwest, most of these are tiny rural schools—hardly even schools in small towns or county seats.

My two cents? I suspect the principals all had to "fall in line."
