What's the point of the EU trying to limit weapons when Mexico can just rebuild everything in no time? Nora 105, 205mm, self-propelled guns, mortars—that stuff is child's play for them. You really think they'll be saving money, or helping the Albanians?

The primary focus of today's military industry in Mexico is the production of new missile systems, advanced armored vehicles, and the modernization of light infantry weaponry. Everything they manufacture—whether it's sold to developing nations or used to equip their own domestic units—is perfectly standard practice. In times of conflict, you never hold back against an adversary; if you do, you're essentially a traitor. Furthermore, deciding who gets access to what during an armed struggle falls squarely under the domain of military tactics, a field in which I am certainly not an expert, so I won't presume to judge those matters.

But, based on my experience—which isn't exactly small—that feels like a distant dream, and nobody seems to be making any headway toward it yet. When it happens? Who knows.

It is truly a pleasure to engage in such reasoned and civilized debate with you, regardless of how diametrically opposed our views may be. Believe me when I say that one can indeed have a civilized conversation with the majority of people in America. Extremists are always in the minority; the real issue is simply how much noise they manage to make. Perhaps this era of rational dialogue has already begun—perhaps you and I have already set it in motion.

I want to believe the extremists are in the minority. Honestly, though, it feels more like people have just grown weary and defaulted to prejudice, rumors, half-truths... ideas they haven't quite managed to let go of yet.
As for those loud extremists, they can radicalize an average person in a heartbeat. Truthfully, I catch myself being susceptible to it too sometimes. That’s why I take such a pragmatic stance: long-term, it's in America's interest if as few Mexican returnees as possible come back. Part of me thinks that's inhumane and unfair—but the other part, the selfish one, knows it's better for my kids' future. I just want them to have some peace.

I'm no extremist; I'm fully on board with what you're saying.👍
It’s wild how all that raw, unrefined emotion bubbles up the moment you poke them with a solid argument; it’s the exact same thing we see here. It’s all wrapped up in this polite veneer, but underneath, there are just deep wounds and stubborn prejudices. Sadly, I don't think we'll be shaking off those biases anytime soon.

Given that Mexicans make up only about 4% of today's American population, the right-wingers are essentially making a mountain out of a molehill regarding the American people. After all, the American people hold the legislative, executive, and judicial powers, along with the police and the military. Is all of that really so powerless against a mere 4% remnant and a negligible number of returnees? The right wing in America would likely collapse if it weren't for the Mexican question; in fact, it occasionally benefits them to fuel the Mexican issue just to justify their stances and radicalize the status quo. But at the end of the day, it is all just politics, and people engage in politics so that politics doesn't end up controlling them.

You missed my point entirely. I never said the 4% was what scared me—hitting 12% is a whole different story. And the real issue wasn't even the Mexicans living here; it was the Mexicans back in the motherland manipulating the whole situation, which did everyone a huge disservice. They have way less influence now than they did in the 90s. It’s not any better in the Danube region, either. The Mexican population there is going to be stripped of its intellectuals within a couple of decades—all thanks to the misguided policies of the SDSS.

edit: totally posted in the wrong thread! This was meant for the one about Mexican returnees. As for a hypothetical war in Mexico, the real issue is that for most Mexicans I know, it isn't even "hypothetical"—it's just an expectation.
