Do you ever just sit there and wonder about the world that’s gonna keep spinning, moving along, and just existing long after we've all checked out?

Like, how much does it actually matter to you—how much weight do you put on the kind of footprint you're leaving behind in this physical, material present we're all navigating right now?

I don't really care much about leaving a mark—if that was ever even a thing for me, I guess—it kind of just faded away over time. What actually matters to me is figuring out what’s important right now. That part isn't always easy, though.

Deep stuff. Probably something worth chewing on every morning and every night before hitting the hay. 👍

Well, it really comes down to how much you cling to that false identity—if you do, this whole thing becomes a total nightmare. But if you're aware of your higher existence as a soul, then these questions don't even matter.

I'm actually pretty terrified to even ask this, but curiosity is getting the better of me... why???

I’m dying to know too. Especially since, as far as I'm concerned, the world ends when I do. There's nothing after me. So why bother thinking about "nothingness"?😕🤷

Maybe it’s just because it isn't much—but still, it's something waiting for you after death

How can anything be "waiting" for me after death if death doesn't even exist?😕🤷

Even better—if that's how you feel about things, these questions probably don't even bother you.

But see, that's not really where my head is at. I'm not questioning what happens to me personally; I'm more focused on how my actual existence ripples out and affects the world that keeps spinning right alongside us—this big, messy reality we're all living in right now.

Wrong. This world only exists because I am here to witness it. No me, no world. Period.
Your question is all about "meaning."
That's like asking: "What was my role in the world before I was even born?"🙂😉😁

Some people really convinced themselves they were indispensable, thinking in terms like "after JFK, it's just JFK" or "after Reagan, everything falls apart." It all turned out to be pretty foolish in the end, I suppose. The world just keeps spinning on its own path, completely indifferent to these departed "giants," let alone to little guys like us. If you can't change much while you're actually alive, how much more could you possibly do once you're dead? 🙂 🤣

But no, you still insist on knowing what happens afterward. For instance, wondering if your wife will start seeing someone else right after you pass away. 😂 There is a very good reason why you don't know that, I think; if we did, murder rates would probably be much higher. 🤣

Honestly, my favorite type of person is the one who desperately wants to be recorded in various encyclopedias, the ones who write their own biographies on Wikipedia or some other nonsense site, hoping to see their name in a "Who's Who in America" directory. To them, I promise that I will personally make sure everyone finds out what kind of idiots they truly were, and maybe I'll even volunteer to edit their profile and biography myself. 😬

Wrong. This world only exists because I am in it. You don't even actually exist outside of my own illusion, so whatever you think is completely irrelevant...

Glad you've got your own little universe going on. Your "self" isn't mine, and sure, I can just be some object in your fantasy.
But let's actually address the OP for once.

Rumi says

"Of all kinds of knowledge,
the best preparation and supplies for the day of death
is the knowledge of poverty of spirit."

Masnavi I: 2834

or John Paul II (as he would later become)

"And again the stones start rolling. Vagončić disappears into the flowers.
And again the electric voltage cuts deep into the rocks.
But man carries within him the inner structure of the world
where love surges stronger the more anger feeds it.

🙂🙂🙂

Every single day is a little reminder of our mortality—it's like a shot of adrenaline for the soul, kind of like how an egg provides strength to a chick.

Maybe what matters most is the kind of legacy we pack up to carry with us into eternity.🤷

Sure, taking photos of the deceased isn't really the "in" thing anymore, but man, wouldn't it be interesting to see what you look like post-mortem in a picture?

True. It's basically whatever existed before you were even born.
Is it nothing, everything, or just... something?

This part of the thread really hit home for me:

Farewell

If I pass,
leave the balcony door open.

A child is eating an orange.
(I can see it from my balcony.)

The reaper mows the grain.
(I can hear it from my balcony.)

If I pass,
leave the balcony door open.
