Henry Edwards33 said:If you want to make your life a little easier, just head over to your profile settings and add anyone who’s getting on your nerves to your ignore list. Once you do that, their posts just vanish from your view. It’s much better for your mental health. 😁

I decided to switch topics because I’m not interested in deleting anything. Clearly, some people feel a desperate need to clarify things, so they can go ahead and talk themselves in circles if they want. It doesn't bother me at all, as long as my other threads stay clean.
Talking isn't really an issue for me. You know better than anyone how much I love to ramble and how much I can overexplain things when I get going. 🤣

Just look for the ignore option and click it. Trust me, it’s worth it. 😉

unrecognized entity already laid it all out for you here.
Ignore - hide posts from specific users whenever you want.
If there's someone on the forum who’s driving you crazy, you can choose to ignore them, which essentially makes their posts invisible to you. To do this, just visit their profile (click on their username) and select User lists > Add to ignore list. They won't get a notification that you've blocked them, and they'll still be able to see what you post.

Honestly, nothing bothers me anymore—that isn't the issue. I've got plenty of games to watch, and I usually know they'll end 1-0 in my favor anyway... It's fine if you don't delete it, really, but... this used to be our little quiet corner, and we didn't have any Luka here. And now? Are we all supposed to sit here and cry about it collectively?!? You know, Orsat once said: San Francisco sails on, San Francisco washes against the barren rock, just to hide its freedom...

You aren't just a chatterbox. You're actually worse than that, but somehow you're forgiven... Now if I could just figure out how to use that big grin emoji...

The emoji didn't work... And for what it's worth, I wouldn't trade you for anyone else!

Terry Johnson3 said:So, do you actually have an argument here or not? Look back at the whole thread, not just the last post. If everyone put as much effort into their points as I do (and if apis would actually try sometimes), this debate would be a hell of a lot more productive.
As far as I'm concerned, the program was never slow. I personally never experienced that... sure, maybe for some accounting firm buried under mountains of paperwork it was, but for me, just handling my own stuff, it wasn't.

That’s exactly my point. It might run fine on a single PC with minimal data for a simple business. Anything beyond that, and you're asking for trouble. It’s the same story with Clipper. But with Clipper (meaning DBF), nobody cared because it was the only—or at least the most popular—alternative to the expensive solutions back then.

And I've never read any actual arguments for Techno... just that it's perfect and the best ever, and supposedly has some superior SQL database...

Clearly, you didn't bother looking (I've cited them, and so have others—and I'm not just talking about praise, but flaws too).

And when you can't even get the name right, it's obvious you didn't even want to try.

We are talking about Techno software, just so you know for next time.

Sorry, but that’s not an argument for killing it off.
If I tell you I’ve used a piece of software for 20 years without a single speed or stability issue, I don't need some guy who doesn't even use it telling me it's garbage just because someone, somewhere, is having problems...

It’s like if someone tried to argue that my car is junk because some guy in Zimbabwe is having engine trouble with the exact same model, even though I've driven mine two million miles without a single breakdown.😁

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you paid for and how you use it.
You can't buy a cheap handheld drill for $167 and expect to run it professionally 16 hours a day... but if you just need it for occasional home repairs, it'll probably last you a few years.

Software is no different.

As for getting the name wrong? Why should I bother?
This works for me...
And I've lived long enough to know that those "Top Shop" deals promising incredible products that are somehow 17 times better than the market leaders for half the price—usually including a free pencil—are almost always a scam.

Besides, aggressive advertising and trash-talking the competition usually just backfires on customers anyway. 😉

Henry Edwards33 said:It’s far from perfect. Claiming that I’m insisting things are flawless or that I’m ignoring posts is just poking the bear to get a reaction out of me. Honestly, I don't go looking for perfection in anything in life. I'm not a complete idiot. 🙂

Just because I haven't used it lately doesn't mean I'm out of the loop. I deal with plenty of people I talk to regularly—mostly accountants and service techs—and I'm constantly hearing their complaints.

I hear those complaints all the time too. You ask someone a simple question like, "How's it going?" and you get hit with a barrage of grievances. People love to complain. They love to broadcast how hard life is. Not everyone does, but a good chunk of them do.

So basically, every word I say carries weight, while anyone else can complain or insult people as much as they want. You don't do anything about personal attacks.

I'm not silencing you. 🤣
Unfortunately, you haven't quite grasped how the system works. I don't shut down anyone who stays polite and sticks to the topic. Like I told you before, you can report any posts you think need a look or some discipline. Reports go to all five moderators in the Department, the head super-moderator, and three administrators. That should give you an idea of how much weight a report actually carries. Most of us listed there will review reports and act accordingly.
If you get a warning telling you not to do something, and then you go ahead and do exactly that, getting the ban you were warned about isn't really a problem in my book.

A super-mod can tell me, "Henry Edwards33, stop calling user XY an idiot or you'll get a strike for harassment."
If I write a post where I call user XY an idiot, how could a strike for harassment possibly catch me by surprise? 🤷
I was clearly trying to say the situation was stupid, so if I end up with a strike for it, so be it. I weighed the pros and cons and decided to call out the stupidity. 😁

Can we move on from my moderation duties now, or do I need to keep explaining this?

I don't mind people talking about other software or pointing out the flaws in any particular program, provided they do it respectfully and follow the rules. Try using that approach for a while, and we'll see how it goes. 😉

You’re being incredibly clever by trying to dilute my point. My people aren't complaining about vague things; they're dealing with very specific issues regarding Synesis.

You clearly missed the point. I’m not silencing anyone who actually stays on topic and acts like a decent human being.

You’re undermining your own interests. For example, you moved a few posts over to the chat that don't belong here at all, simply because they offered solid pros and cons regarding book programs. Meanwhile, you leave in random nonsense about onions and peppers that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. That isn't moderation; it's just playing favorites.

Besides, you’re being incredibly vindictive. Just because I called you out, now you're banning me over every little thing while letting everyone else slide. Look at the sheer amount of insults—both direct and passive-aggressive—on this thread right now.

Like I already told you, you can report any posts you think need a look or some actual consequences.

That’s how you play games with little kids. If you actually moderated properly, there wouldn't be any need for complaining.

I was clearly trying to say it’s a total load of crap, and honestly, I don't care if I get banned for it. I weighed the pros and cons, and then I just called out the stupidity for what it is. 😁

I’ve never called anyone an idiot, nor do I feel the need to vent my frustrations on internet forums.

I don't care if you talk about other programs or point out their flaws, as long as you keep it civil and follow the rules. Try playing it that way for a while and we'll see how things go. 😉

I’m out here putting in the work the whole time, but apparently, that’s an issue for you and Pupil’s little clique. That's when the personal attacks start—the constant insults and the total fabrications about garages and whatnot.

The emoji didn't load because the IMG tag is missing. 😉
You can fix it two ways:
1. Manually type (image) after it.
2. Click the yellow icon with the little mountain at the top of the editor window, and the forum will generate the code for you.

You don't seem to realize that I genuinely have no desire to get into an argument with you. 🤷
If people want to complain, let them. Feel free to share those complaints if you feel the need. Just try adjusting your rhetoric and your tone. If you tweak your style a bit, things will go much smoother for everyone.

We've gone over my moderation style more times than I care to count. I'm done talking about it.
I moved some posts instead of deleting them just so we could talk without the constant fear of getting banned. It was a calculated move on my part.

Moving forward, I don't plan on explaining my decisions anymore. At least not in this thread.
I get that you think I'm unfair, vindictive, or whatever other labels you want to throw at me.
I've tried, on several occasions, to explain my reasoning, but we're clearly speaking different languages. You aren't going to change your mind, and I'm not asking you to; I'm just saying I'm tired of playing this game. It feels like I'm just chasing my own tail.

Thanks for clearing that up.🙂 It’s actually pretty simple... though now I'm left wondering 😂—I mean, I'll try, but seriously—why aren't there any smileys for peppers, Luke, or tomato salad??? 🙂 Still, I'm very 🙂 and sending you your favorite one... 🙂 (is that supposed to be a dig?!???)

And what about this other thing?!? Come on, we really have nothing to talk about... or anyone to talk to. Who needs what?? Luke! And water.

Oh, wait, I almost forgot... She says you're being SHREWD, so maybe Luke is up to something suspicious here?!?

What do you mean "The Smiths"??? I don't have any flowers, no macchiatos, and definitely no chocolates to offer—what am I even supposed to send you all, ladies? 🙂

Oh, I almost forgot: local craft beers down at the pub. Cheers.

@Carol Price4: haha, thanks. But seriously—what on earth did you put in your coffee??

That's exactly why I went out and bought one of those Nespresso machines—now I just make my own brew at home. At least I know what's actually in it... which is a win in my book.

Hold on, Lili... 🙂 Is this even a joke? This isn't some light pop song, it's straight-up rock! Give me a break...

Hey there. I’m just sitting here waiting for a spark of inspiration to hit—or maybe for a sudden bout of writer's block to kick in and finish me off. Until then, I guess I’m still smiling at this...

Hey everyone, does anyone here happen to have a subscription to

accounting-tax-journal.com

Could someone send me one specific article posted there? It’s behind a paywall, and honestly, their subscription is way too pricey just for me to grab one single piece.
I asked if I could just pay them for a one-off access, but they shot me down, which is just great...

If you're willing to help out, maybe shoot me a DM and I'll send over the link.

Thanks in advance.

I’m all sweetness and light, really 🙂

But I'm losing my mind here because some people just can't plan two steps ahead. They're already falling behind before they've even started. 🙂
