I’m listening to some old-school folk music CDs. Every single lyric is pure misery—it’s all about broken stones, dying mothers, or lonely seagulls. There isn't a soul alive who wouldn't spiral into a depression listening to this stuff!

What’s your take on these kinds of lyrics?

And it’s not just the folk singers. Look at all the trashy country songs playing in every dive bar from here to Nashville—they're all the same: she left, I'm alone, life is pain, she cheated... It's predictable. Of course the drunks at the bar keep ordering rounds; it just fuels the cycle and keeps the bartender in business.

It’s no wonder people are depressed!
How much do these songs actually impact the mood and mental health of the country?
I’m genuinely curious what you think...

So, what kind of songs are we talking about when you say they're about happiness?🤷

Maybe something from Mate Bulić's setlist!🤣🤣
Like, Armed to the teeth 😂

Oh, they definitely exist! I just put on that little indie band from Brooklyn.
There’s one track where she sings about love and happiness. Yes, actual happiness!

Mind you, there is one song about a lost bunny, but I think I'll skip that one.

Here’s another one: "When you're feeling good, clap your hands!"

It's obvious there's plenty of it!!!!

Look, I was talking about actual songs.🤣
There’s also those church hymns that are just way too optimistic for my taste!😂😂

Listen, folks,😲just put on some Rammstein. Even if nothing else works out, you'll at least be happy you aren't as crazy as they are...😉

That’s exactly why we’re all miserable!😂😂

Judging by your username, you're clearly a die-hard fan.🤣

I'm looking at this text right now. These people are absolutely unhinged.

@Ronald Garcia5 - honestly, it’s the same old story with your threads and posts: just constant complaining, nitpicking, and being pissed off about everything...☕

why don't you try spreading a little positivity for once? maybe write something about what actually makes you happy, or what motivates you, or what's actually going right in your life

I’ve officially thrown in the towel on this whole thing... Look, someone isn't going to want to dance to trance or rock (honestly, it doesn't even matter)—they’re just going to head straight for some trashy pop garbage instead... And then what?! I’m done trying to wrap my head around it. I just dance to whatever happens to be playing at the moment (well, except for that cheesy country stuff). I don't listen to folk music at home either.

Rock and metal tracks are just on another level... when you're blasting them, you just feel so damn cool. There's no heartbreak, no heavy sadness, nothing but pure energy to headbang to.🤣

I mean, what can I say? Maybe they are unstable, but honestly, they somehow cheer me up day after day...😂I don't know, really. They haven't driven me into a depression yet, but I guess that just depends on the person. Someone who loves heavy metal is going to listen to stuff that "encourages" self-harm...🙄but someone looking for something to lift them up will find their own thing...🙂I found exactly what I was looking for...😛

Personally, ballads and depressing songs actually pull me out of a slump. Why? I honestly have no idea.

Fine, here's some positivity just for you: "Go screw yourself!" 😁😁

There. That really brightened my day. 👍👍

Look, there’s no heartbreak to be found here. Honestly, there isn't even any love involved. It seems to me you’ve completely misread the genre... 😂

Because I listen to bluegrass.

Bluegrass can be melancholic, but for my mental health, it’s more helpful than anything else.

What really worries me is seeing how much more popular country and folk music is becoming lately...

I mean, what I’m listening to is stuff about killing you, eating you, pulling your brain out, and then sitting there pondering my four different personalities—one’s gonna summon a demon, one’s headed straight to hell, the third is busy raping hobbits, and the fourth is just a flat-out liar. So yeah, screw you or whatever, what do you think of me?

That's not rock ballads, man. That kind of stuff is for wimps.

I didn't want to get too specific because I didn't want to sound like an elitist, otherwise I'd end up bickering with some anti-elitist type somewhere else...😳

Well, people have to sing out their sorrows and pains... just wait until something happens to you, when you fall into a slump... the best thing is to moan and express those emotions, get it all out... and then later switch to happy music.... music heals the soul...
As for the drinkers in the bars... regarding drinkers... alcoholism is a disease... it has nothing to do with the music.... they'll be at that bar even without any music playing...

Of course they’ll listen to something for a drink or whatever, but they’ll definitely swallow more if you give them actual music instead of those Zovnčić tracks...

As for all this misery and woe, sure, people love to sing about it. But I don't get why nobody ever sings about happiness, love, health, or wealth... just for some balance... or maybe because those lyrics are either pure trash like "screw you, screw your mother" or they're just incredibly banal—like "then I walk down the street, then I eat, then my day passes, then I brush my teeth"... it's ridiculous. Even the old folk songs used to mean something, but now they're just describing basic hygiene and daily routines... unbelievable.

Take a closer look at the lyrics from popular American singers... Lily Kim or whoever else... Britney is a classic example... It sounds great to us because we don't understand it, but once you translate the lyrics, there's zero substance; it's just mindless. It's no wonder Americans are seen as a brainless nation... and we're right on track to follow suit.

Why hasn't anyone written an anthem about wealth?!😕

Check this out: Gold shines all around me, while everything inside feels pitch black

Or maybe this:

Man, Jasmin, everyone around here is just green with envy
as a white limo pulls up to your place
a long, white stretch limo with six doors
carrying enough gold to match your weight

If you want some, there’s plenty more where that came from.😂😂😂
