Man, I’d love to ask you how it feels to finally be back in a boat after being stuck in the water for 25 days!

Parts of the Midwest and down by the Mississippi are completely flooded, and people have been living out of boats for a month already. Then, the US Government sends millions to Haiti, but they can barely scrape together half a million for the flood victims here—and even then, they only did it because the media started calling them out on where the help went.

That pretty much says everything about how much we value our own people!!!

TOTAL DISGRACE!!!!!

Some people are posting stuff here like, "Yeah, just imagine what it's like for them in Haiti"... but I gotta ask—how would you feel if your house was totally underwater and you were stuck living in a boat, while your own Government is busy sending aid to Haiti?!?!?!?!?!?

A very good example.
Small towns out in rural Montana and along the Mississippi have been without power for two weeks now. People are living in tents, completely cut off from civilization.
The US Government’s take? You aren't a priority because you don't make the news. 🙄
Well, isn't that just ironic...

I sent over what I could the very next day—just a few dollars, really, though I wish I could have done more. It seems like there are just too many people watching this tragedy unfold and offering empty opinions instead of simple donations. Honestly, just give whatever you can; every little bit helps someone in need.

About 250,000 dollars in aid has been collected so far. The HCK is even sending another volunteer over to Haiti.

It’s not that there isn't a connection to nature, but obviously, if Haiti were a more developed nation—if they didn't have a government so corrupt and criminal it's hard to even find the right word for it—there would be far, far fewer victims.😠 😢

The US helping Haiti isn't nothing, and any help is welcome, regardless of whether some of that money gets stolen along the way. But the fact that the floods and the victims here in America are being neglected is a disgrace to the country, to the government, and to the new President, who should be heading out there to show some moral support to those affected—even if this disaster isn't nearly as catastrophic as what happened in Haiti. 👎👎

Partially true. They don't need moral support; they need long-term solutions to ensure that—given the river systems—this area doesn't face the same flooding in the future. (Earthquakes, unfortunately, remain unpredictable.)

It’s funny how some people always have to take the opposing side... like they're constantly looking for reasons to disagree.
Why isn't there any talk about providing "long-term" aid to places like Sweden, Germany, Japan, Canada, or Australia?
Oh, right—I forgot. Those countries actually do things besides just managing kids....

Here’s a perfect example of how religions act when an earthquake hits:

It’s a total disgrace...

If this is supposed to be their "ancient, sacred belief," why on earth are they discriminating against people?

Just like I thought it would be, there’s basically zero coverage on Haiti in any of the news outlets I’ve been watching lately. It’s like they just stopped talking about it entirely. Does anyone actually know if anything is happening on the ground regarding real, boots-on-the-ground aid? I'm not talking about those cheesy little songs people sing or whatever—I mean actual help.

That’s just the reality that Neoliberals refuse to face.
