Is ticklishness curable? And if so, how? Is there any way to overcome hypersensitivity to being tickled that isn't just about constant exposure to 😲stimuli
?

So, you're dealing with extreme ticklishness? Great topic—I’ve been looking for answers myself. If someone ever decided they wanted me dead, this would be the perfect method.

Look, since you can't exactly reach around and tickle yourself—which would be pretty weird anyway—you can actually stop someone else from doing it by just pinning their hand down. Just put your hand right over theirs while they're at it.
Give it a shot, seriously—it actually works. 😉

I’m not ticklish.🤷
I used to be as a kid, but I guess my senses have just gone totally numb now!🤣🤣

😁

I wouldn't say I'm overly ticklish; I can pretty much keep it under control.

@gotterdamerung: Why are you even trying to get rid of being ticklish? It's not like it's some insurmountable obstacle. Besides, if you don't let the "problem" get to you, then there isn't actually a problem at all.🤷

It’s just impossible. At least, I can't pull it off! It's not like you lack the physical ability to tickle someone, it's more like... no matter how hard you try, the magic just isn't there.🤷

Knowing where you're being tickled generally kills the reaction. They say it’s impossible to tickle yourself, though I guess there are always outliers who can...

There’s actually a decent breakdown of this right here

I remember watching some MythBusters episode—or something like it, it was ages ago—where they basically proved you can't actually pull that off...

Though, personally, I could probably take myself out with my own footwear if I really had to. 🤔

I can definitely tickle myself. The real question is how one becomes immune to it. 😁

I’ve never really been able to wrap my head around those jumping games... I was never much of an athlete myself...
...but honestly, watching how people freak out when you try to jump around them? That’s the funniest part.

For those who aren't ticklish, it’s all fun and games. But for someone who actually is? If you keep at it, it stops being funny pretty fast—it just becomes incredibly uncomfortable.
That said, there are certain moments where tickling can shift into something else entirely. 😁

I am seriously, insanely ticklish—it’s actually kind of ridiculous 🤣 , and honestly? It isn't even fun...
I can barely even touch myself without jumping out of my skin, unless it's just my own feet 😂

No, that's not it. It's just that you got tickled way too much growing up, so your body basically built up a tolerance... now you're just immune.👍

They’ve just gotta tickle you constantly until you build up a resistance.😉

Lucky you! Whenever I feel like being tickled, I can just do it to myself! 😬

I can tickle myself... 😢 (though putting my hand over someone else's doesn't seem to work for me)
It isn't a massive issue, really. Except when I want to scratch my feet, for instance. I can't even get near them because the sensation is just too intense.🤣

I can't stand being tickled. I'm not even particularly sensitive, but it's just incredibly uncomfortable. My first instinct is usually to deck whoever is doing it.
