fadedsurfer58, I went through the exact same thing about six years ago! When I found out I was pregnant at 18, the first question everyone asked was, "So, when are you getting married?" When I told them I didn't know, they were like, "What do you mean? You're having a baby, you can't just not be married!" It drove me absolutely insane! But hey, fast forward five years, I ended up marrying that same guy, and now we're actually expecting our second kid together!

That is just too sweet 😍 😍

Honestly, I wouldn't say a word if I weren't already in a long-term relationship with my boyfriend—we've been living together for ages, and my family has seen him a billion times by now—plus, I’m currently carrying three different types of medication in my system. 🤣

It’s also pretty amusing when I head into work to drop off my paperwork; these random acquaintances or casual coworkers will walk up with this look of profound concern, pat me on the shoulder, and "politely" ask, "So, are you dealing with morning sickness?" And all I can do is try not to burst into laughter right there. Usually, I just tell them I don't have any, unless I've had a few too many drinks 😬 I say with a completely deadpan expression, so they can never tell if I'm joking or if I'm actually being serious 🤣

My new favorite line to drop is: "We aren't going to have this conversation"
The moment someone starts badgering me with nonsense, they get that specific statement paired with a very particular look
Honestly, I’ve finally invested in some peace of mind. It was absolute chaos at the office today—grown adults acting like toddlers

Though, I should probably point out that no stranger has tried that yet, so I’m not entirely sure how I would react... 😂

Haha, same here! 😁
I totally expected to be annoyed by it. I mean, I haven't had random people grabbing at me in public or anything, but a few coworkers I hadn't seen in a while were super sweet about it and all made sure to ask if it was okay first. It was actually pretty cute.

It’s the same story as last time—everyone just brushes off my venting because "it's just the hormones." Honestly, I feel like losing my mind. It’s beyond frustrating, and what really stings is that most of the time, it’s coming from my own mother.

Second pregnancy
1. Was this just a random impulse or what?
No, it wasn't some impulsive mistake—we actually planned this.
2. Is L. feeling jealous at all?
Not even a little, and honestly, even if he were, it wouldn't matter.
3. Would you have preferred a girl?
I just want a healthy baby. Period. Gender doesn't matter to me.
4. Is it easier this time around compared to the first one?
Actually, it's way harder. During my first pregnancy, I spent most of the time just lying on the couch and taking it easy, which was great, but now I’m constantly chasing after my little one when I really should be resting.
5. You haven't gained any weight; if you stay like that, it won't be good for the baby.
Go to hell. Seriously, back off and realize I’m not anorexic, I’m just naturally thin, and the baby is getting everything it needs...

Anyway, those are the questions. Numbers 1 and 5 are the ones that really get to me..

So, I’m officially in the starting blocks. We found out just the other day that I’m having twins. Yesterday, my mother-in-law finally swung by—even though we actually invited her over the day before so we could all celebrate together, but she didn't bother showing up then. And you know what one of the first things out of her mouth was once she sat down? "You're gonna be huge at the wedding!" (which is only 12 months away).
Seriously, saying that to a pregnant woman—especially one carrying twins—is just straight-up disgusting.
My only regret is that I didn't think on my feet and shut her down right then and there. 🙂

And then come the lectures... don't eat sweets, don't have more than one slice of toast a day, stay away from pastries... 🙄

Scott Morris3, even if you ended up looking like a total wreck, you'd still be a billion times more beautiful than that bitter old hag.

Honestly, I have such a low tolerance for people like that... they just use others as a punching bag for all their own frustrations when they have nothing better to do with their lives.
It’s truly terrible, just awful... I'm honestly speechless.

Blentava, you actually have me cracking up here 😁 😁 seriously, you're right—being a total menace just doesn't suit anyone! 🙂

ivika, I’m still trying to hold it together. But honestly, I don't know how much longer I can play nice before it gets unhealthy..

MrsKepolas, I try to hold back depending on who I’m dealing with, mostly because I've learned the hard way that some people just need a serious reality check before they actually stop to think about what they're saying—whether we're talking about pregnancy or just life in general.
Mozda that comment wasn't intended to be malicious, but it definitely comes across as pretty harsh.

Since I'm still just a little bit pregnant, I might as well contribute here.

It isn’t that it bothers me, per se, but I am honestly surprised by the gap between the women on this forum and the pregnant women I encounter in real life, especially since I have checkups almost every morning now.

The ladies on these forums are so incredibly conscientious (probably 90% of them, at least &#128521😉) that it can actually make you feel a bit inadequate or like you aren't doing enough. People talk about having a single glass of kale juice like they're making a confession, and if someone mentions eating a cookie, they immediately react with that ":yikes: what a mess..." kind of vibe. At least, that's my impression.

In the real world, people are eating chips and sweets or drinking sodas... and that includes pregnant women in major cities too.
They lounge around and put on weight, and they don't really pay much attention to the foods that are supposed to be off-limits or discouraged.

Maybe the group here is mostly made up of people who are more anxious about their pregnancy, which makes sense, but I guess that contrast just catches me off guard sometimes. 😂

I should probably add—since I’m clearly being forgetful here—something that really gets under my skin. A relative of mine was pregnant about two years ago, and right before she gave birth, she was so incredibly vocal about how much she hated women who recount their birth stories. She went on and on about it, complaining at length... so, what am I supposed to do when I see her and I'm still pregnant past my due date??! Naturally, she starts sharing all those absolutely nauseating details about her own delivery. Honestly, just... ugh. 😶

You can't even make this stuff up—what an old hag...
All she cares about is whether or not you'll look fat at the wedding 🤦‍♀️

But seriously, don't sweat it, girl... just let it go in one ear and out the other. 🙂

You're gonna look gorgeous. 🙂

My mother-in-law brought it up again today😛—that whole thing about how there’s going to be a huge gap between the kids...
We were at church, too. Honestly, if we weren't, I would've told her I couldn't care less about any "differences" involving me and my husband.
And then she has the nerve to joke, "Well, you'll catch up by the third one."
Next time, I'm just gonna shut her down and suggest she finds a new husband herself. What's not to love? 🙂:

We went into this second baby on purpose, so there's going to be a small age gap. Some old lady from the in-laws' side commented something like, "Already?" Like, how does that even concern you? How does the age difference between MY kids—who I feed, clothe, and raise—affect your tiny little life? Some people really feel entitled to say whatever they want. Honestly, it's not just during pregnancy; this kind of stuff annoys me in general.

Honestly, my heart just sank this past weekend. We went over to my mother-in-law's place to share the news that we're finally going to be parents—after trying for eleven years. And what does she ask me? She asks what I've been doing at home lately. I told her, "Not much, really," because even a little bit of physical strain sends me into stomach pains. Her response? She basically told me I’m just being lazy and making excuses, claiming she and her daughter were working hard right up until they gave birth. Look, she and I don't get along, and we've always kept our distance 311 miles so we don't see each other all that often, but now she thinks I should be out digging holes in the yard just because she managed to do it forty-five years ago.

My former hairstylist actually had the nerve to ask me if I didn't find it weird having something dead sitting inside my abdomen. 😢(
I mean, what am I even supposed to say to that?
