It honestly drives me up the wall that I can’t sleep on my stomach anymore, which has always been my absolute favorite way to pass out or just curl up with a good book.
And don't even get me started on my mother-in-law. It is beyond infuriating how she constantly tries to dictate exactly what I do—or more accurately, what I *don't* need—for the baby. She’ll say things like, "Why bother getting a stroller? You're having the baby in the middle of winter anyway, so you won't be taking them anywhere," or "Oh, you definitely don't need a crib; they can just sleep in this old bassinet we're giving you." In the end, according to her, I don't need anything at all.

What really gets under my skin is how much of this year I've wasted. I feel completely stuck—just sitting at home, pregnant and incredibly frustrated, while everyone else is actually out there living their lives. It feels like I'm serving a sentence.
And let’s be honest, once the baby arrives, things are only going to get tougher. You can't exactly take a newborn anywhere.

On top of that, I keep getting people lecturing me, saying things like, "Oh, you shouldn't take the baby out in public until they're at least three years old, it's just not decent." Well, great. So I'm basically under house arrest? Total lockdown.🙄

There really is no need to dwell on those kinds of thoughts because there’s just no way that’s how things are going to go... We are still making an effort to get out and about even when I'm feeling completely exhausted, though I suppose we might scale back our outings a bit once the wildfire smoke starts rolling in... but honestly, a cozy night in with friends is always a wonderful alternative! 🙂
Our little baby stayed with her grandmother for the very first time today because we headed out to celebrate a close friend's birthday party... It’s such a huge milestone! She’s already been part of the action since she was only four months old when we took her along to a wedding, and honestly, we haven't missed a single social beat—not even during my pregnancy, and certainly not now that she's four years old and constantly by our side...
And now I find myself pregnant, even though my calendar is already absolutely packed with concerts, weddings, and all sorts of big plans...

I have one just like that—honestly, I really do. 😁

If she told you that you really need to stay off your feet—like, strict bed rest—then fine, follow orders. But if she didn't actually say that? There’s really no reason to spend your entire day cooped up inside the house.
You should honestly just head downtown—maybe take a stroll, grab a coffee, or catch a movie at the local theater—anywhere, really. It can't hurt! In fact, if you aren't dealing with any health issues, wouldn't it actually be better to just get out and breathe some fresh air? 🙂

So, what’s up with people saying kids shouldn't go outside until they're three? Honestly—it seems pretty ridiculous to me. A child needs fresh air just as much as any adult does, right? 😉
And if you're thinking about heading out—well, there’s always the option of finding someone to watch the kid—isn't there?

Unless you were forced to stay home due to medical complications, there is absolutely no reason to panic. I traveled throughout my entire pregnancy. For instance, I took a road trip to Greece during my seventh month.😁

Now, I have a three-month-old, and we are already enjoying trips to the beach and various outings. We started traveling when she was only four weeks old (we waited a bit longer before that because the heatwaves were brutal). Ultimately, it all comes down to your own mindset and choosing not to listen to the nonsense other people spout.👍

It’s not even about complications; it’s just this widespread assumption that you have to forfeit your entire social life until your kid hits at least three. Honestly, being stuck at home like this feels more like a sentence than anything else. To be blunt, I find this domestic routine incredibly dull and monotonous—it's driving me absolutely stir-crazy.

Why on earth should you care what other people think?
I’m certainly not one for sitting around the house all day either, and I still make it out on the town quite regularly! Whether it's a night out with my husband or catching up with my girlfriends, I don't let it bother me one bit.

Of course, that's all assuming you have reliable childcare sorted out first.

Nobody is forcing you to raise a kid. If it’s such a massive burden, you can always walk away. Honestly, thank God we actually have freedom of choice in this country.

Actually, I am being forced. Today, I was threatened with the fact that if I walk away from my kid, my own family will disown me for being a monster.

Back to this topic again...
If I recall correctly, you mentioned being around 36 or 37 years old, so you’re definitely not some immature kid.
Since having a child isn't what you want, I honestly think it’s better for both you and the child if you don't step into that parenting role. If your husband—or his side of the family—is absolutely set on having one, just let them take the lead. Let them handle the heavy lifting, the sleepless nights, and all that raising stuff while you go out and live your life exactly how you want to. And hey, if they aren't actually willing to put in the work to care for the little one, adoption is always an option. In my book, nothing is worse than living a life that feels hollow because you're just following someone else's script or trying to meet their expectations.

rowdyviper13 : Honestly, I couldn't agree more...

On a different note: besides the monotony of being stuck at home, what really grates on me is scrolling through endless threads online filled with mothers expressing instant regret. They have these stories where, just a few months in, they’re already asking, "How am I supposed to survive this?"

It’s also incredibly irritating how everyone seems to know I don't want kids, yet they still approach me with this relentless, forced enthusiasm: "ARE YOU EXCITED FOR THE BABY
🎉 ??"
I mean, seriously... are people actually that dense, or are they just pretending to be?

I honestly think you’re just a deeply unhappy individual. You seem to have a very sad life, and frankly, a child deserves much better than anything you could ever hope to provide. If that's the case, do the decent thing and let someone else raise them instead of you. Also, please stop trolling; nobody is actually interested in what you have to say anymore...

I’m just waiting for Charles Morris7 to chime in. Honestly, it’s pretty entertaining watching someone who’s 35 act like they’re still stuck in middle school.

I was totally blindsided by the fact that you’re still bleeding for like a month after giving birth 😁 and that you can't even shave properly because of the postpartum stuff, plus all those other basic daily things...
During my second pregnancy, I finally figured out what it feels like when the baby hiccups... and the insomnia...
My impatience and how much I'm counting down the days until delivery really gets to me, and I hate it when people touch my belly without asking.

@EsteeLauder, oh come on, three years?! You're totally overthinking it... If you really want to, you could just head straight from the hospital onto part-time work. It’s not like you have to be breastfeeding constantly, there's always bottles, or powdered milk, or even Grandma to help out, so you can just enjoy being free...

@EsteeLauder: I’m struggling to follow the logic here. You said you didn't want kids from the very beginning, yet somehow you ended up pregnant... so instead of choosing an abortion, you're going through with the birth, even though you honestly don't want the child? If that was the case, why wasn't it settled sooner? Look, I am firmly pro-choice, seriously—you could have just had an abortion and moved on with your life. It sounds like things with your husband and your family aren't exactly great if someone feels pressured into a situation like this. At that point, maybe just have the baby and then walk away from the kids, the spouse, and the parents to start over completely. Not everyone is wired to be a parent, plain and simple. 😁

Changing the subject: insomnia, man, it's the worst... waking up at 3:00 AM and just being wide awake for the rest of the night 😵
And one more thing that really gets under my skin: people on the subway or standing in lines who just won't give up their seats or let others go ahead. That kind of selfishness really irritates me sometimes.

For me, the absolute worst part is just staring down at my plate. Everyone feels entitled to chime in and tell me that what I’m eating isn’t "baby-safe" or is loaded with pesticides, antibiotics, or some other junk. Like—am I eating enough fish? I’m definitely not touching tuna every day. And wait, are you actually going to drink a Coke? That stuff is a silent killer for babies. It’s just endless nonsense.
