I find myself getting drawn into these debates all the time, and while I feel like I have all the necessary arguments lined up, everything feels so incredibly layered and complex that I just can't seem to boil it down into simple terms for everyone else to grasp...🤷
That’s why, for quite some time now, I’ve mostly been participating in these discussions from the sidelines—essentially just sitting here getting increasingly frustrated because I watch people spout nonsense or argue points they’re clearly wrong about, yet I can't seem to steer them toward the actual reality of the situation, whatever the topic may be. Now, I’ll admit, I did briefly wonder if perhaps my vocabulary was just too limited 🤣, but that isn't really the issue at hand. It’s more that whatever I’m thinking about or taking a stand on is just so nuanced and complicated to explain to others. I don't consider myself some profound philosopher by any means, but I do feel like I'm right far more often than I can actually demonstrate, simply because... my thoughts always seem to outrun my ability to put them into words. ☕

hm hm, again with the hm. There’s this old saying about communication:
"Clear thought, clear expression"
It's hard to wrap my head around having "all the arguments" in your mind but being unable to say them because they're too complex. Maybe. Ever tried using math instead?
It's like giving a computer a task and having it flash on the screen: "solved, but I don't know how to display the answer." Sorry, just a joke...
Seems like you might be pulling my leg a bit. Don't take it personally...

It might be what you mentioned—you think in such abstractions that even though your point is crystal clear to you, you know how hard it is to make it concrete for someone else. Some people have the opposite issue; they can't see past the literal. 🤷 😬

Anyway, you've got your username and total anonymity (which is priceless 😁), so just write as much as you want and however you want, without worrying about how you come across. Don't sweat it; some people will get you. At worst, the ones who see things the same way you do will find you. 😁

🤔

It must be exhausting, watching people spout nonsense while you're consistently right but just can't find a way to prove it.

Maybe your circle isn't even on your level. Why feel this need to prove your "absolute truth" to them anyway? Honestly, people might actually lose it if they knew the full story. It’s probably better left unsaid. 😂
PS: I hope the OP takes this as a little jab at her harmless vanity. I’m starting to wonder if it isn't just a matter of brain structure—specifically a thick corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres. Maybe too much data is flooding from the intuitive right side into the "logical" left, and it just can't process it all. I wish I had a brain like that. A natural knack for enlightenment. Why bother with words? I’d probably just focus on following the lightning-fast info coming from the "illogical" hemisphere that sees the big picture. Just my thoughts. There's a thread on gender diversity by Indra where she touched on the differences between male and female brains. Someone posted something interesting there that I didn't take seriously at first, but listening to what's happening in our scene, it's actually pretty spot on. If I can track it down, I'll paste it here, assuming the author doesn't mind.

Dag Dugpa wrote: "You're right. Through the corpus callosum—the bridge between the left and right hemispheres—the brain serializes emotional, parallel, networked, heuristic processes from the right side over to the left, which handles the serial, algorithmic, logical stuff.
The issue here is this: women might actually transfer emotional data to the left hemisphere faster because they have a wider bandwidth, or a larger reservoir, whatever you want to call it, but they can't process it there quickly enough. That's why their verbalization comes out muddled, confusing, or just rambling. "

I am being completely serious here... I have been doing some deep thinking (yes, I really have! 🙂) and I finally hit upon a realization... my most frequent sounding boards are my own friends, a group made up of people who are truly, fundamentally different from one another. Of course, perhaps what binds us all together is a shared streak of stubbornness. It is what it is... even I struggle to wrap my head around someone else's perspective when I genuinely don't see the logic in it—not because we are talking about the mysteries of the universe, mind you, but just because our viewpoints clash, blah blah blah... which makes it such a challenge for me to translate my own thoughts into language that these same people would actually find relatable and acceptable... though I suspect there is more to it than just that, but anyway...

On the other hand, I can't help but wonder if anyone else out there feels just as overly analytical and stuck in this same predicament? 😉 🙏

I guess I have the same problem. Too smart for my own good, but I can't seem to convince anyone around me... It's rough, haha.
Maybe one day you'll find a cure for cancer or something similarly productive for humanity with that freakish brain of yours. It'd be a shame if all that creativity went to waste.

Well, I suppose you could call me an "indigo child" if we're being dramatic 🙂

As if simply labeling me that way settles the whole debate and makes everyone feel better about my existence. Apparently, I’m just doing everything wrong, and I really ought to be focusing all my energy on the betterment of humanity instead, right? 🙂

But in all seriousness, my actual intention was just to open up a conversation for those who struggle to find their voice. Perhaps it's a difficulty expressing their true thoughts, or maybe it's a general barrier in communication...
Some people find their outlet through writing, others find solace in music, and some... well, some find no way out at all.
Is there really no one else out there who feels this way? 😕

Look, we’re all just unique individuals living our own lives, right? You really have to let people hold their own opinions, regardless of whether you think you're absolutely right or not... It’s honestly not your job to try and force someone to believe in something they haven't personally lived through or experienced firsthand.

So, why is it that when you try to explain something, people just don't seem to get you?
Well, maybe it's because you're overcomplicating things with way too many unnecessary words, or perhaps you're using terminology that folks just haven't encountered enough in their reading to actually grasp the nuance of what you're trying to drive home.

If you actually want to bridge that gap and communicate with people like that... you've got to step into their shoes for a second and just use plain, simple language to explain your point, whether you're recounting some wild story that happened to you or just sharing a thought.

Best, 🙂
