Kenneth Parker said:The most sensible answer in this whole thread. I can't believe people in the Psychology subforum have started discussing exorcisms, ghosts, and the Devil's work.
If someone is hallucinating, they need medical treatment. If it's caused by a tumor, they need surgery and care. If it's schizophrenia or another illness, there are treatments for that too. The point is to see a primary care doctor first, judging by the posts and the mention of psychiatrists. And they MUST get treatment. Right now, they might just see ghosts in the window, but in a few weeks or months, they could start seeing the Devil in family members or experience auditory hallucinations that lead to something like, "Demons told me to kill myself." I say this because I knew someone with schizophrenia who saw the Devil in their five-year-old son and thought their spouse was poisoning them!
If nothing else, they need treatment—they're dealing with suicidal thoughts.

Absolutely.
I can accept that they’re debating ghosts or witches—they clearly believe in that sort of thing—but the fact that this isn't being moderated on a platform like this is honestly laughable. It’s a mistake to allow these kinds of comments to circulate when there's zero proof for any of it. It’s even worse when you consider they might be directing this nonsense toward a kid dealing with a brain tumor. I just hope people don't actually listen to them.

Carl Ruiz4 said:What about vampires? 🙂

It’s Professor van Helsing or definitely Buffy if you're a guy or a lesbian. She’s got the physique for it. It would be a hell of a thing to watch her move through those kung-fu sequences while she tears through vampires just to keep you safe.

wanderingwolf98 said:So, I guess my question for you is this: what are you actually going to do if the people who believe and pray end up being right? Like, the folks who believe in God and spend their time praying—they aren't really losing anything, they can only gain something, right? But what happens to you guys who don't believe? And, I mean, how do you explain it when certain people who have basically lost their minds after doing specific religious rituals suddenly become totally normal again and can't even remember that whole period where they were under that influence—you know, from evil forces or some kind of spirit waking up inside them??😕

If Bog is as good as they claim, he won't care that I didn't believe. I haven't harmed anyone or committed any injustices, which is more than many believers can say. If he's truly good, why should we serve him like toys, forced to attend church and suffer just to entertain him? If he sends me to hell for that, I'll be glad I didn't spend my Sundays kissing the ass of such a selfish, cruel entity. You know the saying: paradise might be nice, but hell has a better social scene.👍
Since all these stories are just fabrications by priests, gurus, and shamans, it simply means that when I die, my brain shuts off, I cease to exist, and that’s it.

Your talk about evil forces and exorcisms curing the sick is pure fiction. In the Middle Ages, priests would burn people with epilepsy at the stake to drive out Satan. But this is the 21st century; the Church isn't God, and they aren't allowed to use violence anymore. They aren't desperate enough to try and claw their way back to power and drag us back to the Dark Ages.

I mean, if you’re counting people who go out of their way to be malicious and unjust as believers, then I guess I really don't know if you actually get the difference between a believer and an atheist.
We aren't exactly putting on a show for anyone by going to church; it's more about just showing gratitude for everything we've been given and praying for good things to happen.
Seriously, is your brain even turned on right now??? Like, do you honestly believe there's a spirit within a person or some kind of aura? If you think it's all just brain chemistry, how do you explain things like intuition or other weird states of being?

Wait, did you say your brain just turns off??? Do you actually believe in the human spirit or things like an aura? If you think it's strictly just brain function, how do you explain intuition or those other deep states of being?

Hello? Do you even know what percentage of our brains we actually use?

It’s all in the brain. There is no soul. An aura exists, but it isn't some spiritual essence unique to humans or other living beings; any body warmer than absolute zero has one, including a rock.
The brain contains centers for senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, balance—and centers for instincts like reproduction, hunger, and thirst. That same center handles emotions like love, hate, and aggression, as well as intuition. Then there are the centers for short-term and long-term memory, speech, and reasoning. All these centers together create consciousness. I saw a documentary about a medical case where they had to split a woman's cerebral hemispheres due to a tumor, and now she functions as two separate people in one body.

PS. It's a fact that some of the greatest evils in history were committed by believers. Every mobster is a devout believer who attends mass regularly. Crusaders were devout believers, and countless people were burned by inquisitors because they followed different faiths or different gods. They accused people of flying on broomsticks or being witches and burned them at the stake. They burned scientists simply because they disagreed with religious dogma—like when they insisted the Earth was a flat plate at the center of the universe with the sun revolving around it, rather than a sphere revolving around the sun. Look at what religious extremists are doing today.

100%. 👍That ten percent myth is nonsense. We use the whole brain, just not all at once; different neurons fire in shifts.👍

Yeah, honestly... once you meet someone struggling with schizophrenia, it becomes pretty clear to me that the "soul" isn't a thing. Their entire personality just shifts. At least, that's just what I've seen happen.

Haha...🙄

How do you explain why some people have these special abilities that you and I just don't?
You can work on developing your intuition, different types of intelligence, and so many other skills that most people only ever scratch the surface of.

Well, I guess it really just depends on how you look at things, 🤣
I mean, I'm talking about the spirit inhabiting a body here, and you're over there bringing up brain capacity percentages... 🤷 Maybe try reading the post more carefully before asking stuff like that 😉

What "abilities"? You're talking about telekinesis and telepathy. That's pure nonsense.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
James Randi offered a million dollars to anyone who could prove they had paranormal powers. Every single person who stepped up was exposed as a fraud. If you actually know someone who can do this, tell them to step up. They'll get their million if it isn't just a trick.

Okay, thanks for that super deep and enlightened explanation. Since you're clearly such a genius, maybe you could try answering a few more things for me: where did humans actually come from? I'm sure you're gonna say evolution... But okay, then explain how any living thing on Earth started, or where the Earth or the entire universe even came from. You eventually have to hit a point that you just can't explain, and what happens then?🤷

They aren't nonsense. I actually have some intuition... I've been working on it.

But if there's no soul in the body... then I see schizophrenia as the perfect proof of that.

You mentioned intuition coming from the brain... so I'm bringing up unused brain capacity. Please don't tell me you actually believe love comes from the heart or the soul!😛

The honest truth for you would be that a higher power created the universe🤷
someone who watches over every single one of us😉

Alright, alright... you guys seem pretty set in your ways, so whatever. Everyone’s entitled to their own take on things, I suppose. Just keep in mind that while we might feel like we're calling the shots, maybe we're actually just following someone else's lead.

So you think nothing is in our hands and we aren't under anyone's control either?☕

I wouldn't even dream of stepping foot in a psychiatrist's office because, honestly, I know exactly how it goes; they just throw a million words at you, acting like some magical combination of phrases is going to make everything feel better, and it’s all just total garbage... sure, they can listen to me talk, but there is absolutely no way in hell they're going to recommend actual treatment, because I am not crazy!

you don't even need a shrink👍

just try to work through the movies yourself, maybe try some self-analysis.
do you have fears, or like... weird vibes?
try thinking about where it all started.
once you find the root cause, the fallout is easy to cut out...
could be one of two things; either it's just your imagination playing tricks, or there's something supernatural going on...
what do you think? how are you feeling about it?

Right, because someone would just love to micromanage the lives of 6.5 billion people🤣... don't you realize how everything is linked? One single event doesn't just touch one person; it ripples through dozens😉
someone losing a job, a death, a scam, a lie—it all triggers a massive chain reaction affecting countless others who weren't even involved in the initial situation at all.

I just meant you had it backwards—if we're in someone else's hands, nothing is really up to us.
