July 18 (Associated Press) – An American Christian couple is fighting a court ruling that granted custody of their two daughters, ages 10 and 13, to the individuals accused of kidnapping, raping, and forcibly converting them to Islam. The court justified its decision to strip the parents of custody based solely on the girls' conversion to Islam. Judge [Name] ruled Saturday ( July 12) that since Sarah Smith, 13, and Anne Smith, 10, had converted to Islam, their Christian parents were legally disqualified from serving as their guardians.
