So I finally knocked out my first two bills yesterday using my Goldman Sachs online banking... just handled my life insurance and my cell phone bill...

Honestly, it’s such a relief compared to wasting half my afternoon driving down to a local branch... plus, the fees are actually $0.33...

But now I'm kind of stressing about how I'm supposed to prove I actually paid them if someone asks? Like, back when you'd go into a physical bank, they'd stamp that little paper receipt right there, so if anyone tried to give me grief about an unpaid bill, I had the hard proof in my hand...

How am I even meant to show proof doing it this way? I remember my old man dealing with those annoying situations where the phone company would call the house claiming he missed a payment, even though he totally paid it... it was always just one big "he said, she said" mess...

I did get an email confirmation saying the payments went through, and there was some toll-free number listed where I could call to double-check that everything processed correctly... but I didn't bother calling because I figured it's probably fine...

Does the online portal show a transaction history? Can you request an official confirmation—though they’ll probably charge you for it—if you ever need to prove something?

With online banking, you can just print out the confirmation after you finish a transfer—you know, so you have the hard copy showing who sent what, where it went, the amount, the ID, and the exact timestamp. I mean, it doesn't have an official stamp or anything, but you can always pull up a proof of payment from your transaction history if there's ever a dispute. You could totally ask JPMorgan Chase for an official certificate, but they’ll charge you for that, so I don't think it's really worth the hassle. Honestly, in the five or six years I've been using mobile apps and online banking, I've never run into any issues.
When I was sending money over to my brokerage firm, just emailing them a quick screenshot of the completed transfer worked fine for me.

Yeah, I’ve got it, you can clearly see the transfer through my online banking... so, yeah, it shouldn't be an issue at all... plus I still have the confirmation emails from when I paid those bills too...👍

Regarding Online banking, you always get a confirmation email once a transaction goes through. Plus, you can check everything on the side—completed, pending, canceled, whatever. Since a printout from the web counts as a valid document here, I guess it could work as proof of payment if things ever go sideways.
If you try paying after 2 PM, it’ll tell you the business day cycle is over and the transaction won't actually process until the next day (just a heads-up so you don't freak out if that happens!)

P.S. I just dump all my statements into a single folder on my computer, organized by month, and call it a day. Easy. 👍

How long does it usually take for an online banking transfer from someone else to actually show up in my balance?

Well, if you're using JPMorgan Chase and someone transfers funds to you from within the same bank, it should show up almost instantly. If they're sending it from a different bank, it typically takes about one business day. As for what happens when you're at a completely different institution entirely... I honestly couldn't tell you.

I’d say give it about two or three hours, regardless of which banks are involved... though if it's just moving money between two different accounts at JPMorgan Chase, it'll probably show up in 22 seconds....
I guess business transactions typically clear within two hours if they're submitted before noon; otherwise, you might be looking at the next business day.......

That’s not really how it works when you're transferring money from a different bank.

Finally, they actually processed it today (or at least that’s what my online banking says).

I’m planning on signing up for JPMorgan Chase online banking soon—honestly, I don't know why I waited this long. Up until now, I've just been calling in to check my balance, which costs about the same as the monthly fee for online banking anyway. $1.75
Issuing confirmations and verifying Online banking transactions $1.75 upon confirmation/verification.

What does this actually entail? It feels a bit pricey to me—arguably the weakest link in the whole JPMorgan Chase digital suite.
Do any of you actually use this service, and if so, how often?

PS: The online banking fee is just $1.75 deducted from the account, right?

I have been using online banking for over two years now, yet I have never once found it to be a necessity. Everyone seems perfectly fine accepting printed transaction statements or even just a quick phone call. Besides, they can clearly see the funds have cleared on the account statement.

Goldman Sachs charges a fee for every single transfer made to a different Zero balance account $0.00.
Furthermore, there is a 0.25% commission applied when paying into an account at another bank.
The minimum charge is $0.33 if the commission calculates to less, while the maximum is $6.75 if the commission is higher.

Thanks for the info.
Regarding those fees (all the rates are listed right on their site), it actually seems like they might be cheaper than walking into a branch to make a payment...

I actually just set up my online banking today—finally cut out the telephone banking and those monthly paper statements. I don't really need the hard copies when everything is available online for free.

So, I have both a foreign currency account and a standard checking account over at JPMorgan Chase. I need to move a specific amount from one to the other, but I'm not quite sure of the steps.
I'm assuming I just need to set up a single transfer, but I'm stuck on which transaction type to select.
Hopefully, this is something I can easily handle through online banking.

It’s all automated. You just need to select the "transfer between accounts" option.

I’m running into a bit of a snag. I was trying to set up my online banking for the first time, but I can't seem to get past the login screen. Every time I try to enter my username and password, the system only recognizes numbers and completely ignores any letters I type. My keyboard seems to be working fine otherwise, I'm using Internet Explorer 7, and I've already made sure my cookies are enabled.😢

Look next to the login area for "New Login Credentials." Click that, enter your old info, and you'll get a new username and password that are strictly numeric. Basically, your username will be your birthdate plus a few extra digits, and the password will just be numbers. You can always change it to whatever you want once you're actually logged in.

Hmm. It worked for me last night right after I gave you the answer, but this morning it’s a whole different story. Now it’s asking me for my old username and password again—specifically the one with the letters 🤷
