I suppose if Will Smith looks less blue, the movie might actually stand a chance—even if they did manage to clean up the CGI somewhat.

Why is everyone tearing Will apart? So he has blond hair—who cares...
If he weren't blond, everyone would be making a huge deal about how the Genie isn't blond either...

I don't get why everyone is acting so shocked that they swapped out the Arab cast for Black actors in this movie.

Lately in the US, for whatever reason, Arab characters aren't exactly getting the spotlight, so...

Besides, we've seen white actors playing Black roles more times than I can count, so there's really no reason to act surprised now. 😁

I caught it too—honestly, I thought it was great. Despite all the skeptics claiming Will Smith would miss the mark, he actually pulled it off brilliantly.
The visual effects were top-notch and the cast was solid; my only real gripe was that there was a bit too much singing for my taste.

As for the acting, it was alright; Aladdin and Princess Jasmine were great, and Will Smith actually did a pretty good job (though he occasionally reminded me of Eddie Murphy, who probably would've been a better pick). My biggest gripe, though, was Jafar. The actor did his job well, but he just felt way too young for the role. Someone like Ben Kingsley would've hit the mark better. Also, the Sultan felt a bit artificial—his face looked too young for the part, almost like he’d had too much work done. Overall, a good watch and glad I checked it out. 8/10

It stays pretty true to the animation, but it’s not an exact replica. There are actually quite a few changes.

The differences compared to the animation are actually more pronounced than they were with The Lion King, I suppose.
I found the film to be quite good, which was a bit of a surprise since I went in expecting total garbage based on the trailer, but it turned out to be rather charming and fun.

I honestly think those little tweaks they made were a smart move, you know? It keeps things from feeling like a carbon copy of the cartoon. They really nailed the vibe, though—it’s got that perfect *Aladdin* atmosphere going on. Major props to them for that! 🙏

As for the casting, picking the guy to play Aladdin was a total bullseye; he fits the part perfectly. Same goes for princess jasmine, too. And man, Will Smith is just legendary as the Genie! 👍

But oh boy, Ali Jaffar... what a disaster! 😵🙂 The actor they picked just doesn't fit the role at all. He just doesn't have that look, you know? He doesn't come across as truly villainous or anything; he just lacks that menacing energy you need for the wicked Jafar.
Honestly, I think Charles Dance would have been the absolute perfect choice for that role.

Watched this without setting the bar too high, mostly just because Guy Ritchie was involved. Honestly? It worked. Even the musical numbers—I didn't feel the need to skip them. I'm not usually a fan of Will Smith, but he actually pulled off the role of Genie quite well. Jafar, on the other hand, felt totally unconvincing.
