It’s a fantastic movie—I honestly had such a blast watching it. The whole atmosphere was just spot on, and the cast really delivered. I found the chemistry between Aladdin and Jasmine to be incredibly sweet, and frankly, Will Smith was the highlight for me. It was great to see him tapping into that classic, gritty, slightly unhinged energy he used to have—it’s been a while since I’ve seen him bring that specific spark back to the screen.

Great movie. Honestly, my favorite among these Disney's live-action remakes so far.

I think we can expect this thread to really take off now—especially since the movie just hit my favorite local theater... those massive IMAX screens are honestly everything... and I'm definitely not the only one hooked

Aladdin 2019 is alright, I guess—it hits the marks, the acting is solid enough, and the whole thing is put together quite nicely... plus, Jasmine's tiger was absolutely killer!
My main gripe, though, is that they really missed the mark with Jafar; he should have been played by someone older and more menacing, but instead, they just threw some young kid at the role who lacked any real presence, which isn't what Jafar is about at all. And then there's the whole Genie situation... why make the Genie Black? Look, I'll give Will Smith his due, he did a fine job and it’s definitely not a total disaster, but for some reason, the whole idea of a Black Genie just doesn't sit right with me...

I honestly don't get why people are pushing back on the casting for Jafar. A young vizier, someone who could actually be an heir to the throne—to me, the actor choice is spot on. I mean, why would we want Ben Kingsley again?
From the very first announcement, I wasn't exactly sold on the idea of Will Smith playing a genie, but this kind of quirky, high-energy role is something only he can pull off.
Besides, if John Wayne could play Genghis Khan, what's stopping a Black actor from playing a genie?

It’s a decent enough flick if you just need something to kill some time. I’d give it a 7 / 10. 😵 🙂
