Lisa Hernandez3, why the clone act?
Seriously, now I'm actually curious who we're even dealing with 😁

Lisa Hernandez3 said:The only thing that impresses me is when someone hits the mark. And that’s strictly based on my own standards, of course. I have no interest in following the pack, joining a witch hunt, or dealing with all that seasonal drama about infatuations and survival. (😁)
I didn't actually mean you were that type of person—that was more of an ironic, sort of parodic way of expressing my own displaced position. 😁 For me, what’s even more irritating than antipathetic individuals is the group-think debating culture where being intelligent or having something meaningful to say isn't enough—sometimes, apparently, all it takes is being in the loop. Conflicts often just serve as a way for certain people within a group to reposition themselves and their social standing within that circle. It’s always, without fail, about self-interest. It looks like a psychological conflict, but they aren't actually that foolish. 😉
Oh, please. And who exactly would that be? 😁
hiddenhound3 said:I would certainly be happy to do the same, but since I serve as a moderator, I am unable to 😢
Furthermore, she continues to engage in behavior that is utterly irrational; she projects her own animosity or intolerance onto me, claiming that I am the one who cannot stand her, which is a completely distorted perception.Honestly, I avoid them as much as humanly possible.
That is perfectly reasonable; one has their own interests and gravitates toward the specific topics and subforums they care about, whereas this bizarre fixation on a single individual feels like a parasitic tick.😳
I will admit that I do check profiles occasionally, though I only look at those I find interesting or whose contributions I genuinely enjoy reading.🙂 My motivation for interacting is never to provoke a confrontation, but rather to facilitate a pleasant exchange of ideas.
Terry Davis40 said:I'm dealing with something pretty similar with one woman on this forum. And the best part? She refuses to respect my requests to just skip over my posts—she ignores me entirely. She claims she keeps track of my edited posts, and even the ones I've deleted. Honestly, I only deleted one where I called her out (and I did it immediately), mostly because I didn't want her breathing down my neck anymore. But apparently, she spends all day lurking on the site, watching my every move. 🤷For now, ignoring her is working, though sometimes I feel like just laying it all out for her. Then again, I realize her bitterness would probably just bounce back onto me—and I really don't need that kind of drama in my life right now.

I’m curious—how does it feel when you realize someone is essentially stalking your threads just to drop snarky comments? They seem to be waiting around for every single thing you post, just so they can jump in and try to take you down a notch. Has anyone else dealt with this?
What is actually wrong with people like that? What kind of twisted hobby is it to fixate on someone, track their posts, and constantly tear them down when you don't even know them in real life and likely never will?
Could there be a connection to that psychological phenomenon where you can't stand someone in your actual life, so you project those traits onto a stranger online? You decide they remind you of that one person, and then you lash out at them as a way to vent all the pent-up frustration you've been suppressing from dealing with that person in reality—someone you're forced to tolerate far beyond your breaking point.
It happened to me once in a specific thread. I didn't like their posts or their perspective, and I realized I was subconsciously linking them to someone I know personally. I got so caught up in the urge to discredit them that I was practically hovering over my keyboard, waiting for their next post just so I could "put them in their place." Eventually, other users pointed out how aggressive I was being, and I had to admit I was overdoing it.
What are your thoughts on this? 😕
placidridge56 said:It really just shows they have some deep-seated issues they refuse to own up to.😁
The real issue is the aggression itself. It acts as a perfect mirror—a caricature of their own subconscious patterns that they simply refuse to reconcile with. If they actually had any self-awareness, they certainly wouldn't be hunting you down.
But honestly? You end up doing the exact same thing, just in different contexts or under different circumstances.
We all fall into these traps until we finally become aware of our own unconscious habits. That’s when we start truly understanding others, and the urge to attack just disappears.
Drew Morgan said:What am I supposed to do? I can't stand this level of sadism, arrogance, and sheer disrespect.
Instead of looking in the mirror, they choose to attack someone who simply shared their private life in confidence. It’s nothing short of a betrayal.
Michelle Alvarez8 said:Look, I get where you're coming from, but didn't you miss the point about where this betrayal actually started? I mean, if you post your deepest, most personal feelings on a public platform, isn't it pretty obvious that you are the one betraying those feelings yourself? It's not really them pointing out the mistake—it's just reality hitting home.
Sandra Parker3 said:Even though this wasn't aimed directly at me... there's something here that really gets my attention...
No, we don't all act the same way, because "intolerance" comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and levels...
I've been around here long enough to get to know some of these usernames, but honestly, that's beside the point. It’s more about how you inevitably find yourself stuck in situations you didn't ask for and usually try to avoid at all costs.
It's pretty fascinating watching this thread... seeing how certain people act like they're Mother Teresa while being total hypocrites in reality—they just can't seem to take their own advice.🙄
The thing is... someone writes a username based on how they're being stalked, or how they're getting creepy DMs... and you just know that's exactly what's happening. They're reading everything you write and reaching out through brand-new accounts... it honestly makes me want to gag. But there's something else interesting about it, more or less...
I think we have a pretty good idea who those types are, so their fake politeness doesn't fly with anyone who's already crossed paths with them. Still, there are always these young punks who think they can pull the same old stunts...
Oh, and what's the fun part? Well, you get to "study" these characters. It's actually kind of entertaining, and I might as well enjoy myself while the opportunity presents itself.
All in all, it's one big mess. You shouldn't waste too much time on people like that, though there are times when you just can't help but react, especially when you get a little too invested—especially once you start mobilizing your supporters and your crew.
edit: As for leaking private info... using public Wi-Fi or hitting up a Starbucks internet cafe won't save you. Most of the time, it's just reckless people with zero impulse control. If necessary, it's actually quite easy to link those actions back to specific individuals. But then again, who wants to deal with that headache, right? Though if things get serious, I guess I could.🤷
Michelle Alvarez8 said:Look, we all know everyone’s just looking for attention here—it’s basically a given—but some things are private for a damn good reason. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather keep my intimate business and how I feel physically to myself than deal with sheer stupidity. Though, let's be honest, they usually go hand in hand.
Besides, if you've got the stomach to spill your deepest secrets all over a forum (or any public platform, really), then you should logically have the guts to handle—get this—differing opinions. It’s honestly ridiculous to think you can broadcast your most private moments to the world and expect nothing but digital hugs and pats on the back.
Rachel Sullivan2 said:We’re all guilty of it.🙂
I love how Kyle King4 puts it—that dealing with certain people feels like trying to play catch with someone who keeps throwing the ball right at your face. 😍
And honestly? Same. I'll follow some threads, get worked up, and my irritation just builds and builds until eventually, I just don't give a damn about any of it anymore. 🤷
I'm with you on that one.
🙂

There’s also a huge distinction between someone discussing a topic—offering their own perspective or arguments—and someone fueled by pure spite, just waiting for an opening to jump down someone else's throat. It gets especially ridiculous when a small group starts private messaging, essentially teaming up to sharpen their knives on some third party. It reminds me of the petty office gossip you find in any corporate building or even just in a suburban neighborhood... it’s basically a microcosm of real life.
Then you have people who share their personal business because they’re going through a rough patch. Since we expect a certain level of privacy with our usernames, names and specific data aren't tossed around, but these discussions often help people clear their heads. I don't see why someone shouldn't air a burning problem, whether they need advice on a broken heart, some legal guidance, or just want to vent. Sometimes it's easier to do that behind a screen. But then there's always that one person who lives to feed off the drama. It’s that small-minded pettiness where someone thinks, "I hope your house burns down as long as mine is fine." It’s pathetic. It’s mostly ego at work; people getting a tiny, selfish thrill from feeling superior or smarter than someone else. Especially those people who don't have much else going on in their own little worlds to focus on.
Look, I’ve shared my own private struggles on forums before, too. And I haven't been met with insults. In fact, finding a bit of empathy during tough times helped me see things clearly, learn something new, or get some actually useful, practical advice. After all, none of us are lawyers, doctors, psychologists, plumbers, poets, philosophers, or single parents. We’re just humans with hearts and souls. At least, I'd like to think so... 🤷

Michelle Alvarez8 said:Actually, you can't! I ran a little experiment earlier this year and proved that there’s no way to distinguish between people who are just trolling and those who are truly pouring their hearts out.
Sorry, but legal tips or stuff like "use Tide for your laundry" don't really count as the kind of deep intimacy involved in this whole messy topic—including the US subforum.🤷

lonegardener said:Was that some sort of private study, or is there a paper trail on the forum somewhere? I'd love to look into this...
I tend to agree, though. This whole trend of oversharing feels wrong to me. Even with the "anonymity" factor, whenever I feel like someone is dumping raw, intimate details right in my face, I just end up feeling deeply saddened by it.
Couldn't they at least abstract those feelings? You know, speak in generalities or hypothetical scenarios instead of being so blunt and lacking any subtlety... it's about as subtle as a sledgehammer.
