Bradley Nelson2 said:Who’s actually coming back? Most of it was sold off to private interests by the government ages ago anyway. People might hold out hope for some kind of financial settlement, but it won't come anywhere close to being worth a damn.

Everything built during the old era just got looted once we switched to democracy. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about who actually screwed over the workers and the common people more.

Give me a break. Who actually owns people? Sorry, but I’ve never seen a democracy where the government just steps in and says, "Hey, this corporation belongs to us now." You think it's a good idea? Fine. Let's make it ours so we can run it straight into the ground. Then you won't have anything left to worry about.

You've got a point there—in a democracy, the state usually just takes it from you in a much more sophisticated way.

Handed them over to Americans?!🤮 He actually nationalized everything and brought it under state control, then the government wasted all those funds on bunkers while waiting for some imaginary war. Americans didn't see a single cent of it.

Looks like everyone’s busy trashing FDR here.
Just a quick heads-up though—FDR was the one who actually secured California for the Beautiful Coast after it was part of Italy. If you're looking for someone to blame for all those later robberies, don't point your finger at the new crowd.
Look, man, FDR was the law. 😎

I can't stand FDR, regardless of whether people think he was a powerhouse or not. 🙂

Exactly what he gave us: forced nationalization, political imprisonment camps, injustice, the violent collapse of our union, wasting taxpayer money on bunkers while waiting for a war that never happened, setting us back decades, and banning religious freedom... thanks a lot to that one-legged locksmith.

You’ve gotta admit it. Just an idea... purely just a thought floating around in my head. No pressure, nothing concrete, just one of those random mental sparks that hits you when you're staring at a blank wall or waiting for a coffee that’s taking way too long. Anyway, here it is. Just tossing it out there. America was actually pretty great... everyone felt like brothers under one flag. Just one big, unified nation.
Just an idea. Communism is actually a pretty great concept on paper—everyone works, everyone gets their fair share. Everything’s supposedly covered. Just... you know. Theory vs. reality. Always.

But look, FDR just didn't get it... he never quite grasped that us North American folks have this intense national identity that runs way deeper than any "brotherhood and unity" slogan they tried to push on us.

Honestly, looking back at everything... Communism just flat-out failed in practice. It wasn't some grand alternative that actually worked. When you really peel back the layers, it didn't turn out any better than Nazism did. It’s all just different versions of the same disaster.

We used to hold our own on the global stage, you know? We had that clout. And we had the Non-aligned Movement backing us up, too. It gave us a certain kind of leverage... or maybe just a sense of importance. Hard to say now. Everything feels different these days.

It’s just kinda weird, I guess, how the bed kept creaking under that heavy-handed oversight, almost like we were being watched by someone with the spirit of Rosa Parks...

Man, stop exaggerating. If we're talking about the bloody collapse, you look at Maddox and the big corporations first (yeah, I'm counting Harmon in that too). Injustice? Which exact injustice are you even whining about? Social injustice is way worse today than it ever was in America. And wasting money on bunkers? Neither the Americans nor the Russians avoided doing that, so why would we be any smarter? You say he "set us back twenty years"—are you insane?? Based on what?? Because he organized American industry? Because he modernized it? Because people actually had jobs back then and workers' rights were way better than they are now? And "banned religion"? Don't make me laugh... that's just typical "awakened nationalist" nonsense. People went to church, respected their God, and celebrated their holidays just fine; nobody was stopping them... the only thing was that in a multi-ethnic state, having an official state religion was counterproductive. The Communist Party was basically the official state religion back then, so you just couldn't be a good Communist (IF you wanted to join the party) AND a good believer at the same time. You had to pick one or the other...

Kyle Walker24 said:give me a break. wars in this part of the world are a constant, while ownership issues are... let's just say they vary. btw, you're talking about Nazis and their collaborators, not the massive number of Americans who actually fought for the partisans...

and one more thing, you're pissed at FDR just because he set up a communist state... ignoring actual terminology (since "communism" has historically been used to describe various versions of personalized "anti-bourgeois, people's" rule, which showed up in America as Titoism), you're oversimplifying things big time. You're missing the whole geopolitical mess of the era... seriously, what choice did we even have back then? FDR did the best he could with the hand he was dealt, turning a small nation into a respectable regional power capable of standing up to—get this—Stalin!!

as for the crimes (which I'm not justifying, btw) and the political purges, you gotta realize that winners ALWAYS abuse their power. The system was what it was, dammit. Just look at what was happening elsewhere in the world... compared to them, FDR was a lightweight... look at de Gaulle's purges of collaborators, the Soviet-controlled regimes in Eastern Europe, the systematic human rights violations in the USA (especially against racial minorities), or the crimes committed during American "local wars" abroad...

FDR was the best possible solution at the time. What happened after he died is a whole different story...

btw.

I haven't stumbled upon this specific version anywhere else yet. I only found the vocal track online... eeee, but here you have the full orchestra... 😉

🤣 It's basically a rip-off of that Jewish song "Shalom Chaverim." Honestly, comrades, I don't know how you guys can live with yourselves without feeling any shame.

Workers had more rights back then, so it’s no wonder those factories were supposedly so "productive."🙄

Yeah, workers are only there so those corporate fat cats and billionaire scum can rake in more profit. Who gives a damn about them, right?

People who work get paid, and people who don't get nothing. Isn't that just the natural order of things?

The thing is, most of these people aren't even looking for more out of life.
Why don't they try starting their own business? (And please, skip the tired jokes about how impossible that is in America.)
Why aren't they getting more education?
How do you expect to stay competitive in this job market without constantly leveling up your skills?
They just want warehouse shifts or cashier gigs with all the bells and whistles included.
That’s not how the world works. Maybe it worked back in the days of America, but it doesn't anymore.

Explain yourself. Since when were people getting paid for doing absolutely nothing?

You're talking about work ethic, I'm talking about workers' rights... you know, healthcare, social security, pensions, all that stuff...

This reminds me of The Simpsons, when Mr. Burns tries to cut his employees' dental insurance just to boost the bottom line... profit is king, right? Workers exist to serve the factory, not the other way around, am I right?

Well, it's not Franklin D. Roosevelt's fault if people refuse to work!

It's not even about that... do you even get it? The public sector has to exist, at least for now. And what, everyone who had the bad luck of not developing specific skills that would benefit them personally deserves to be exploited according to your logic? Screw that—who cares if they didn't go back to school? I hate this kind of country!
