Did they change something with that package?
Yesterday I had an approved overdraft $333 valid until May 31st, 2011, along with my Maestro card installment limit of $333 and a 60% bonus. Now I’m checking Chase Mobile and nothing is there—no overdraft (it says it expired on March 31st 😕), no bonus, and no installment limit. 😕 I pay everything on time, so I have no clue what the issue is or why they just pulled everything. 😕 I called them, and the woman on the line could see my overdraft was gone, but she couldn't tell me why.

Now I have to head down to the branch...

Unbelievable. I was at Chase today and they pull this crap on me. Apparently, some "technical glitch" wiped out all my overdraft limits. Just gone. They claimed they’re working on fixing the error and promised everything would be back to normal soon

Alright then.
I just ran down to the bank. 😁 Nobody there seems to have a clue; they’re just telling me "everything looks fine on the account, there's no reason for it to be closed." 🙄
I signed some sort of overdraft approval request, and they said they'd "get back to me." Hopefully soon...

Yeah, clearly some kind of glitch. My balance was sitting at negative $333 through May 31st, but now it’s back to zero and the app claims it expired on March 31st...

I went through the exact same thing about a year or two ago. They just cut off my overdraft for no reason at all, and I had to wait an entire year before they’d even consider approving it again. Basically, I had to clear my balance completely just to get back to zero and stay out of their bad books.
One day, maybe six months or a year later, I happened to stop by an ATM and noticed I suddenly had more credit available. That was when it clicked—they’d finally reinstated my overdraft.
Bottom line, if you don't have a steady paycheck coming in, you might be looking at a long wait.

Best,

Look, I went down to JPMorgan Chase today to deal with this mess. Everything was working perfectly fine yesterday, and I had my overdraft limit set through May 31st. That’s what my contract says! They can't just pull that feature out from under me overnight just because they feel like it. And get this—they told me it's some "technical glitch." Apparently, they were running some updates and all the student overdraft protections just vanished due to a system error. The lady at the branch told me straight up that once they fix the bug, they'll restore everything. I even went up the ladder and talked to the department manager about it.

Forget all those five things they told you. The bottom line is, they can just wipe out your balance whenever they feel like it, without even giving you a heads-up.

Best,

No need to panic just yet. My account is also showing zero overages today, along with at least three others I’ve talked to. I stopped by my JPMorgan Chase branch earlier, and they told me it was just a technical glitch affecting all student accounts. They said they’ll have it cleared up within a few days. 🙂

Yeah, I heard the exact same thing. The branch manager told me straight up they aren't actually going to wipe the overdraft fees—they just have to fix the technical error first, then everything should go back to normal.

I went through this exact same ordeal about a month ago—filed the paperwork for a reversal after an overdraft—and it took them nine whole days just to credit the funds back to my account.

Phew, what a relief. 😁
I almost passed out when I logged into the Chase Mobile App and saw they’d wiped everything out. 😁

Got everything back except the bonus, though honestly, who cares about that? 😉

They sent my refund back, but it wasn't nearly enough $333 to cover buying Spotify on a payment plan. Hopefully they fix it soon...

Is it absolutely necessary for me to be a sophomore or further along in my degree program? I mean, when I was chatting with the lady over at Chase, she didn't mention anything about a specific year requirement, but then I stumbled upon some fine print today claiming you have to be at least a second-year student, which has left me feeling a bit turned around 😕 can anyone shed some light on this?

You've gotta have at least a basic grasp of what you're studying by your sophomore year...

So, I was messing around on the Chase Mobile App earlier since I got it for free, and I noticed something kind of weird... it says my overdraft protection and those installment purchase options for my Maestro card are set to expire on September 30th, 2011. I’m a little confused because I think they don't even update the system for the next year until October... so, I guess, what am I actually supposed to do here? Is there some way to extend that, or do I just have to wait for the new year to kick in?

Nothing much, it just auto-renews every six months

Aha, I think I get what you're saying now... so I don't really need to stress about it, right? Because, man, I definitely wouldn't want them freezing my account if I'm sitting at, like, $33 below zero... 🙂 Thanks a ton!

You could just be freshmen for all I care; there isn't any strict requirement to have made it to your sophomore year yet.

Hey, I know some of you have already touched on this, but I just need to say it out loud to ease my mind a bit. 😁 So, I only opted for the overdraft portion of my student banking package. For a while now, I’ve been sitting in a pretty deep deficit, even though I have steady deposits coming in every month... it's just how it is.
The other day, I was logged into my JPMorgan Chase online banking checking over my accounts, and when I saw that my overdraft limit expires on November 30th, I nearly had a heart attack. 🙂 Does that limit automatically extend for another six months, or what?
