Brenda Cook4 said:I honestly feel like this new persona was built specifically to shield our true selves... almost like a way to undergo a deep cleansing process.

True, it acts as a shield, but not against outside forces—it’s actually meant to protect us from ourselves.👍 😁 😁

👍

You just can't reach them—those folks who struggle to navigate the messy, complex layers of human connection and their own inner worlds. To them, the whole thing feels irrational, even grotesque, a tangled web of confusion... and yet, when they actually call it out, they’re dismissed as being unhinged. It's a tragic cycle: they're either institutionalized or forced to flee just for seeing things as they truly are./ Laing during an introductory lecture....

They end up either institutionalized or forced to flee." / Laing during an introductory lecture.../ Laing na jednom uvodnom predavanju....

Isn't that just lovely? Honestly, the way things work feels incredibly nonsensical to me. I can wrap my head around the bizarre logic the world operates on, but I could never truly adopt it as my own.
I also have this constant urge to just vanish. i Want to go to make them think in One Split of a second—and then, she's gone. In that moment, I'd finally know: I left them, just as they once left me.

She hit the nail on the head...👍 ...you see the truth of it all... just try your absolute best to take action... because deep down, you know this is just a way of running away... but you can do it... you can come back... and try (like I told you before) to maintain a sense of 'cheerful indifference' toward those 'who left you'... just keep your eyes on yourself...😘

Hey, could you please tell me—from the perspective of someone living a healthy lifestyle—why is it that we celebrate life so much while simultaneously fearing death?

Regarding my take on things, I’ll be putting "healthy" and "unhealthy" in quotes indefinitely... 😁

I didn't exactly get a say in being born... I was just tossed into this life. But since I'm already here, I'm going to try and steer myself toward whatever brings me a bit of joy—you know, small stuff like stargazing through a telescope, lounging in the grass, or swimming in the Pacific and feeling those salt droplets drying on my skin under the sun. Just walking my dog, reading Eliot or some heavy theoretical physics, grabbing a coffee, having real conversations, finding love... nothing fancy, really.

And death? I don't even dwell on it... it's coming whether I think about it or not.

Look, I’m telling you—you clearly know what’s what... smart girl...😘 so don't sit there whining about it. Just give it everything you've got... and I mean *everything*. Dig deep and fight for it. You know how they say it: 'Life doesn't give you more than you can handle.'🙂

According to my enlightened friends who spent some time in India, once you endure that kind of hardship, a massive reward follows. So, let's wait and see... though, at this rate, it looks like I might actually be enjoying the struggle.🙄 🤣

Well, you know, briskgull27... suffering can be incredibly hypnotic. It’s almost like being under a spell, and you really have to work to "break the trance."😁
Sometimes, it feels like the path of least resistance is just to sink into that pain... like we simply don't have the fuel left in the tank to fight it... but I truly believe you do have that strength inside you...🙂 To really embrace the here and now, your mentor says:The future is made now today in the presence

.................................................. ...." love and hate, joy and sorrow, misery and happiness, pleasure and pain, right and wrong, purpose, meaning, hope, courage, despair, God, heaven and hell, damnation, enlightenment, wisdom, compassion, evil, envy, malice, generosity, camaraderie and everything, in fact, that makes life worth living." /Laing/

I went through the exact same thing when my purple phase kicked in. 😉

I know it's there, but my head feels like a literal brick right now. How am I supposed to actually wake up?

No123, stop playing around—I’m nowhere near starting a "phase," let alone some purple one.
If I start feeling anything, it’s going to be a total blackout. What you’re calling a "purple phase" sounds more like a full-blown psychotic episode to me.

I think I probably thought of Carey Ann Moss just now because I was busy wondering how Keanu Reeves would look in person.
Honestly, I haven't used my brain in ages; I've been relying on other resources instead.😂 😂 😂

There's actually something to that whole philosophy, I guess.
I’ve definitely been through my own share of hell. And yeah, the big payoff did come, but honestly, it only happened once the pain got way too heavy, like when I wasn't even "enjoying" it anymore and had to fight my way out on my own.
I feel like you've already gotten your reward. (Your husband) It's just that sometimes, when everything else is piling up with all these annoying little problems, we totally blow things out of proportion and forget about the good stuff we've already won.

I’ve certainly had my fair share of struggles too. The big rewards eventually come, but usually only after the hardship becomes too much to bear—once I stopped just "enduring" it and finally stood up to fight it on my own terms.
I honestly think you’ve already received your reward. (Your husband). Sometimes, when we're feeling weighed down by all those little daily stresses, we tend to blow things out of proportion and lose sight of the lasting blessings we have.

That's so true. Honestly, there's a part of me that almost finds comfort in being unhappy—not because I'm looking for attention, far from it, I've actually pulled back from everyone quite deliberately.
But it's familiar territory. And sometimes, that specific kind of sadness feels more like home to me than happiness does.🙂 🙏 🙂

Look, I have to admit, even though we’re talking about a serious illness here, your thread is somehow the most upbeat one on this board.🙂 😘
