I really need some input here because I’m completely lost. I married someone who has schizophrenia—something I didn't even realize until about a month ago. For a long time, I couldn't make sense of anything—the erratic behavior, the weird shifts, just a mountain of things I couldn't put a finger on. Then, by pure chance, I found his medication, did a quick search online, and felt like the floor dropped out from under me. He still hasn't realized that I know. He shows no sign of ever coming clean, and frankly, I have no idea how to handle this. Please don't mistake me for being selfish—I'm not just thinking about myself—but I need to know: am I in danger? At first, I just thought he was being stubborn; I came up with all sorts of excuses for his behavior to justify it to myself. But once the truth clicked, I just... shut down. I stopped pushing back. Now, he’s perfectly content because I’ve become this "wonderful," compliant version of myself, and honestly? It scares me. If I hadn't stumbled upon those pills, I would never have suspected a medical issue. He’s brilliant, has a great career, and loves me—but when he gets angry, he retreats into himself. He isn't physically aggressive, but he's verbally intense—he deflects by attacking, insists everything is my fault, tells me I'm the one who isn't "normal" and needs help... he says it all. Before I knew the truth, I actually started believing him. He refuses to acknowledge any issues exist; he just demands constant happiness and positivity, which is impossible. From what I can tell, he’s on high-end meds, though I still don't know how long he's been dealing with this—he's 27 now. I'm trying to piece things together, but there are so many questions and so many gaps in the story.
Thanks.
That's an interesting situation... I see you aren't too panicked, and you shouldn't be... You see, some people just don't want trouble, they just want happiness. What can you do, he's a good soul...
What specific meds is he taking? I ask because it might not necessarily mean he has schizophrenia; it could just be one of the drugs used for other things, like treating phobias, for instance...
Also, I wanted to ask more about his behavior. I get that it's weird, but could you elaborate a bit?
For example, in Tibet, it's perfectly normal to come across someone who doesn't speak. Someone who hasn't uttered a word in years.
That man is respected there as a practitioner of silence, whereas here, he'd be on a cocktail of drugs or locked up, maybe even restrained.😲
It's terrible, creepy, and totally inhuman and selfish...👎
