Rebecca Nelson59 said:I know we’ve already gone down the rabbit hole regarding deli meats—enough said there—but I’m asking for some help navigating a dilemma—or let’s call it what it really is, a trilemma. I’m torn between choosing Pirate, San Antonio, or Bolero. The catch? I’m only catering for about 90 people, maybe even fewer, which means I have an equal number of pros and cons for every single option. I’d love to get your take on this because, frankly, more heads are better than one!

I ended up going with Pirate for my group, and I have roughly the same amount—maybe 100 people total. It was about $45 when I booked it, give or take. Honestly, that venue feels perfect for a crowd of about a hundred; it actually leaves enough floor space to dance...
They won't even look at you for a Saturday unless you have at least 150 people, so we grabbed a Friday instead. And honestly? Huge plus. You get the whole weekend ahead of you to just decompress, plus finding a photographer or whatever else you need is way easier since nobody's booked out like they are on a Saturday. Everyone tells you something different, so I hope that helps a little! 🙄

Hey, Jacob Harris88—could you please, please write that thing about the cookies for me? I think I asked you a few pages back, but maybe you missed it or something... I really don't want to have to type the whole thing all over again.😢

I know of the vocal group Nostalgia, but I've never actually heard of a band by that name.

It’s not really a group, though. I know about a cappella too. A friend actually brought it up to me the other day, so I was just wondering if anyone else here had ever heard anything about them... 🤷🤷🤷

Jacob Harris88 said:I believe they do, though I can't say for certain... Their main headquarters is over in San Jose, but they also have a little kiosk at the downtown farmer's market—that yellow stall where you can grab a catalog featuring their entire cake selection—plus they have a small shop out toward the suburbs somewhere...

Thanks so much... I think I'll head out for a walk and check it out myself. 👍

As far as I recall from the catalog, they don't have the Plaza design listed, but you could always give them a call and ask
if they can do a custom order for you.
When I checked with the venue manager (we held it over at St. Anthony's😍), he gave me the green light to bring in homemade food without any hassle whatsoever.
Their pricing is roughly $12 per pound (which is incredibly affordable, honestly...🙂). I only picked up a few pounds of peaches for the decor, since I knew I'd already prepared about 100 pounds of homemade desserts myself.
That said, I've had their pastries at Muset's before, and they truly are wonderful...

Awesome, thanks! No clue how I missed that!😕

Jacob Harris88 said:I actually booked my entire month-long trip before the Pirate arrived🙂
The summer months are absolutely packed, but since we went during the second month, they actually had some availability left😍
It was $50 per person, though there is definitely room for negotiation (we didn't want the standard meal option, and since we handled the deposit at the very last minute, we ended up paying just $40 per person)😍
The servers were wonderful, and the food—especially the lamb, which caught me completely by surprise—was simply outstanding🙏
We even received a complimentary one-night stay in an apartment (though we eventually decided to extend it to two nights)😍
Honestly, you can work out just about any detail with Mateo, whether it's the decor, the menu, or the drinks...
He even let us host a welcome party by the pool, which was a massive hit with everyone👍
If there is anything else you need to know, please don't hesitate to ask😍

I’m still waiting for my better half to get off the cruise ship, so I haven't made it over to see the venue yet—but I am obsessed with those chairs. They look perfect in the hotel photos. Did you use any sort of covers for them, or did you leave them bare? If you happen to have a photo, I would be EXTREMELY grateful!!1🙂

Hey everyone, does anyone happen to have a ballpark idea of what it costs to rent a motorcoach—something that fits about 40 to 50 people—for a trip from San Francisco over to Manhattan? Also, if you could point me toward a reliable rental company or someone worth contacting, I’d truly appreciate it. Thanks for any insight you can share.

😲 Honestly, I have no clue
but maybe just Google "charter bus rentals"
I'm pretty sure most private motorcoach companies offer rentals😉

And hey, I actually hosted my thing at San Antonio back in September. I had about 96 people including the band, and man, it was great. I set up three long tables right along the beach and then put the main table perpendicular at the top—if you check out their website, one of the venue photos is actually from my party, showing the setup with the screen at the head. Everyone seemed genuinely happy with both the food and the service; it feels like they really push themselves to stay professional. My guests kept mentioning how killer the beachfront location was, perfect for photos, and being able to just wander outside was a huge hit. Some people even went for a late-night swim right after the dinner, basically an early morning dip 🙂

We checked on Atlas for a bus with a driver, and honestly, it didn't look all that expensive, though we ended up just grabbing a mini-bus from someone else since our group was smaller than expected. But seriously, check Atlas, the prices were actually pretty decent

Jacob Harris88, didn't you have those issues with the band? How did everything end up turning out in the end?

I have to agree, the chairs are stunning, and I actually wanted them exactly as they are—without any bulky covers or linens, since I feel like that would just clutter up the aesthetic of the room...
Send me your email via private message and I will send over what I have, although my professional shots haven't arrived quite yet...🙂
