It’s the same deal as with this Maestro stuff—withdrawing cash from ATMs, paying at the grocery store...

Do I have to pay an extra fee for this one too? And can I use my token alongside it?

Besides, what’s the point of having two cards that basically do the exact same thing. Honestly, I’d much rather just get rid of this Starbucks card—it's pretty old and doesn't even have a CVV code on the back for online shopping.

Look, those three cards don't all pull from the same account.
You should actually have three separate ones. Your debit card is tied to your checking, while that Visa Electron works with your foreign currency and savings accounts.

All the fees, terms, and fine print are listed right on their websites.

So, what’s actually the difference between a checking account and a savings account? (I'll be the first to admit—I'm totally lost here, but there's no shame in asking, right?)

I just opened up a checking account over at Hypo, and it comes with a Visa Electron card. Does anyone know if the Visa Electron cards they issue through Hypo actually have a 3-digit security code? I'm trying to make some deposits on an online sportsbook and I'm stuck.

I suppose nobody here has any experience dealing with Hypo🙂. You’ll just have to wait until that card actually arrives in your hands.

And even if you do have that code if you ask me, there's absolutely no guarantee it'll work for online shopping. It’s basically trial and error at that point.

I need a quick answer. Can I use my Intel foreign currency card (€) to buy things here in the States without any issues, even though it's in Euros? (I assume it just converts to dollars at the current exchange rate)

I’ve used that card to pick up stuff online that was priced in dollars before, so I don't really see why I couldn't just use it for things in USD too.

I find myself somewhat lost regarding this whole situation. Since I am an account holder at JP Morgan Chase, which specific card should I request to enable installment purchases? My goal is to have the payments set to trigger on a specific day of the month—essentially spreading the cost over as many installments as the total amount allows. For context, my monthly income is steady at around $3,500.

Has anyone actually used that payment card here in the States? If you have, how was the experience?

Hey there!

Wait, can you actually use a Visa debit card to register for an eBay account?

Yeah, because it’s just a standard Microsoft card
I’m pretty certain about that since my younger brother uses one... he gets his transfers from the SEC and handles all his online shopping through it without any issues

The checking account itself doesn't cost anything

As for those other student perks, I haven't really looked into them...

darkmaker94 said:Look, I laid out exactly what I’ve got and what my setup costs. From where I’m sitting, you need all of that—especially the ability to actually use your Microsoft card online via PayPal. Unlike Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase actually makes that possible. 🙂

The fact that you opened a foreign currency account that charges fees instead of just a standard checking account isn't the bank's fault; it's just a case of you not doing your homework. 🤷

eBay won't take my Microsoft card from JP Morgan Chase.
It keeps telling me the card number is wrong.

I've got mine added and it's working fine. 🤷

Do you actually have funds in your account?

Hey there!

I already posted about this above. I can't speak for other banks, but if you're dealing with Citigroup, it doesn't matter if you've got dollars in your account—they'll force every single transaction through a conversion process. You're going to get absolutely hammered on the exchange rate. 🙂

Just stick with Maestro here in the States. It’s totally fine. No issues at all. ☕

I’m posting here because I honestly feel like an idiot already. I just spent ten minutes with a woman at a Chase branch, and I still don't get any of this. I have the Maestro and the Visa
Intel (both credit and debit), and while the foreign currency debit card makes sense—I can load whatever amount of cash I want onto it for when I'm traveling—this credit card situation is driving me crazy. I need to book flights online, and the teller was trying to convince me that I can't go into a negative balance with it, but she also said I can't just pre-load a specific amount onto it either. So what am I supposed to do? If I give Wizz Air my card details, how does the bill actually get settled? Does it send a statement to my house later, or do I absolutely need to have the funds sitting in my account beforehand? To be honest, the idea of handing over card numbers for an account that allows me to go into debt, even with a tiny limit, is completely unappealing to me.
Is there actually an option with any bank out there where I can pay for things online using a card that I personally control? I want a card where I decide exactly how much money goes on it, ensuring nobody can mess with my finances online as long as I keep the balance at zero, unless I specifically choose to add more.
