Look, Iโve already stated my position, and thatโs itโI don't lose sleep over whether I'm right or wrong. Tomorrow, I could just toss all of this aside and think something completely different. What a person thinks doesn't change reality or the nature of existence. Seriously, I could tell you right now that everything I say is a total lie and that I'm dead wrongโwould that make you happy?๐
But saying "that's just my take" is basically the same as saying "I think/believe this is how it is." And when you say "I believe this is how it is," you're inherently believing you're rightโthat it actually *is* that way and not something else.
You can't really claim to believe you're wrong in the moment.
The second you speak, you're implying what you're saying is true. It's correct. That's just built into talking.
So it's kind of silly to accuse someone of "thinking they're right"โbecause, duh, of course they think they're right.
And you think you're right tooโthat's why you say "I've got this figured out and you haven't." You're doing the same thing when you say I, or this "philosopher," am wrong for "trying to explain everything with logic."
It's unavoidable.
Either you imply you're right by speaking (meaning what you say is exactly how it is), or you stay quiet. There isn't a third option.
I could totally change my mind about all this tomorrow, think something completely different...
Yeah, sure.
But even then, you'll just believe you're right *then*, and that you were wrong before. We always feel like we're right in the present moment.
Back when you believed one thing, you thought you were right.
Now, when you say "there is no right or wrong," you think you're right again.
If you actually get what I'm saying, you'll see you were wrong before, but even that realizationโsaying "I was wrong back then"โwill just make you believe you're right NOW.
And if you don't get it, you'll just keep thinking you're right and I'm just some stubborn philosopher who's totally off base.
what a person thinks doesn't change anything or affect the existence and nature of things.
Oh, really? Aren't thoughts also part of "existence"? Aren't they part of the "nature of things"? What are thoughts supposed to beโ"non-things"? "Non-existence"? "Un-nature"?
Look, I can just tell you straight up that everything I say is a total lie and I'm wrong, does that make you happy?๐
Nope. I'd be way more satisfied if you actually caught the paradox in that statement.
