Ha! Well, here I am again. The decisions are finally in! June 22, 2013โ€”mark your calendars. Picture this: my backyard, white tents, catering by a Bulgarian crew, and music by DJ Yellow.
Iโ€™ll finally have my dream wedding, provided the weather decides to cooperate for once. ๐Ÿ˜I still haven't sorted out the flowers or a photographer though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Matthew Brown76, congrats!
Really happy you're doing an outdoor wedding. Always been a dream of mineโ€”nice tent, cozy vibe, plenty of greenery, food exactly how I like it, a band on a stage lit by torches. Honestly, if I had a bigger yard and my guy didn't live up on a hill, I wouldn't even be hesitating ;-) Enjoy yourselves!!! ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, yessss!! Thanks, nimbleviper15!! You hit the nail on the headโ€”the torches, the candles, all that soft, romantic lighting... Iโ€™m honestly over the moon. We spent forever second-guessing everything, scouting every single banquet hall in the area, but nothing ever felt quite right. This setup is definitely going to be a bit more of a logistical headache to pull off, but Iโ€™ve got a feeling the payoff will be totally worth it ๐Ÿ™‚)

Hey everyone! I haven't had a chance to scroll through all the previous posts yet, so please forgive me if someone has already touched on this topic... anyway, I've got a wedding coming up next year and we've actually gone ahead and booked Elijah, that photo and video team out of Des Moines. Has anyone here worked with them before? From what we've seen online and in their portfolio, their work looks really solid, and honestly, the pricing feels pretty fair too. Weโ€™re still totally undecided on the band situation, though. We were originally hoping to book Vox, but it turns out they're already booked up for our date. For us, the absolute dealbreaker is finding a group that can play absolutely everything, you know? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Does anyone have any good recommendations for us??
thanks

Elijah did the photography for a friend's wedding and the photos turned out pretty good... As for the music, I'd recommend Quattro Band, they play everything.

Everything is pretty much squared away on my end, though I am still on the lookout for a band that plays international hits. Does anyone happen to have any recommendations?

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Blic Studio in Des Moines! Personally, I decided to go with an Inch photographer.

I had my makeup done by the stylist I booked for my trial session, and sheโ€™s actually based out of Indianapolis. She was kind enough to send over some photos, so I managed to grab these shots to show you all. What are your thoughts on the look? Personally, I think it turned out incredibly well, but I still have my official trial scheduled for New Year's Day.

rustyjackal26 said:From the bands Iโ€™ve heard personally, or heard people talking about, for roughly $3333 youโ€™ve got The Passage, Still, Quatro, Vigor, Bolero, and Sax... From what I can gather from the discussions on this forum, those are the heavy hitters in that specific price bracket. Most of them should have their own websites where you can dig into their style or listen to some recordings... Personally, The Passage, Vigor, and Sax stood out to me the most. ๐Ÿ™‚
As for photographers, I don't have much experience there, but my cousin recently used Mark (http://mark.org/) and I thought his work was excellent. The photos they took were really high quality. I'm not sure exactly what he charges, but I'd bet he isn't asking for more than $3333..XD

Ann did my makeup once, and I certainly won't be going back to her again.๐Ÿ™‚It felt like I had been completely misled, and I ended up looking flushed and awkward from head to toe.๐Ÿ™‚
I honestly don't know. Victoria is a talented makeup artist, but one should take everything being said about her on this forum with a grain of salt; at least, that is what my own makeup artist told me when we were discussing who to hire. Not everything written here is necessarily true. On a different note, I listened to AC/DC and the guys are absolutely fantastic, especially the singer, who is a true entertainerโ€”which is exactly what I am looking for.๐Ÿ™‚

Does anyone know what AC/DC is actually like? I noticed they don't even have their own website anymoreโ€”you can only find them listed as a group on Facebook, which isn't very helpful. I have no idea what their setlist looks like or what they charge.
I reached out to The Beatles too, but their quote came through in some weird code, so I asked them to just write it out clearly. ๐Ÿ˜

Anyway, has anyone here worked with The Doors before? Iโ€™m still waiting to hear back from Chicago. So far, only The Beatles and Babylon have replied (Babylon quoted $1,500).
I think The Beatles are running a promotion through mid-October where you can get 20% off the standard rate if you book a certain amount. Once I get a clear answer from them, I'll pass it along in case anyone wants to book them, though the fluctuating exchange rates make me hesitate.

Best,

Best,

The Beatles are $1,400.

Best,

For both AC/DC and The Beatles, five stars across the board!!! They come highly recommended, they run a tight show, they've got great stage presence, and they play whatever you request. I'll DM you the pricing info...

If you want a truly great time, AC/DC is the real deal.๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe I'll just ask everyone active here for some quick info on Chicago? They were my favorites from the start, long before people on this forum started trying to convince me that The Beatles, Victor, or Jim Morrison were better (though I might pass on the latter three, mostly due to the cost).
I've reached out to a few different people, but so far, I've only heard back from Jim Morrison, The Beatles (who still needs to send over their repertoire), and Babylon. I'm still waiting on Chicago, but no word yet.
Does anyone above happen to know what their pricing looks like roughly? And what does their package includeโ€”does it come with lighting or is that extra?

The issue is Vigor doesn't have a website or anything. I can't find them anywhere to listen.๐Ÿคท

Victor used to play at the Old Bridge pub... I thought they were killer, but Legica said she was totally let down, so I guess itโ€™s all subjective. Best bet is just listen for yourself before deciding it's a skip...๐Ÿ™‚

I would suggest just reaching out to the guys directly and asking if you can catch one of their live gigs or if they have any recordings you could check out. Personally, Iโ€™ve had the pleasure of hearing them perform at a few weddings in the past, so I can certainly vouch for their sound.๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, Victor has never played at the Old Bridge pub. Honestly, just hunt down some clips on YouTube or hit up their Facebook page and ask about booking a gig! Their official website is currently down due to some server issues, but everything you need is right there on Facebook!๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿคท They were trying to convince me all night that Victor was playing... who else was on stage then, God knows. I was just trying to help.

Local folks have been eyeing this for over a year nowโ€”either in Savannah or maybe closer to Memphisโ€”and negotiations are supposedly ongoing.๐Ÿ˜My dental work near the center is acting up again; I think I need a filling or something. Does anyone here have recent experience with this? What kind of prices are we looking at these days?
