Look, I’m paying for a single chair here, not renting out the entire banquet hall—so handing over an extra $1,000 just to cover everyone's $117 seems a bit much. If there are five of us, that's basically an extra $200 per person, which feels like overkill—especially since I already went a little overboard with the menu.

I haven't really given that much thought yet 😬
The idea that they have to pay for seating too.
How many guests are you expecting?

I’m thinking somewhere around 120. Though, honestly, it’ll probably swing by about 10 people either way.

German, shoot me a DM. Are you looking for a traditional band or an electric setup? I can give you some recommendations based on what you're after and your budget.

placidcanyon44, please tell me it isn't true that you're actually getting married...
I happened to notice you have a girlfriend now... and where on earth is this lucky lady from?

In VK, I definitely know a few venues—like the Admiral or Hotel Slavonija.
They've got maybe two, or three if I'm remembering right, bridal boutiques... oh, and there's that Art group that plays, for example...
Honestly, you're probably better off just heading down there in person to ask around and get the real scoop.

As for the venue, I know that part. But I heard Art this past Saturday, and honestly, I wasn't impressed.

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions that I'm sure are weighing on most couples currently planning their big day.

Let's tackle them one by one:

1. Where in the Midwest (maybe somewhere like Napa...) can I pick up some high-quality wine for a wedding?
To be clear, I'm looking to buy directly from the winery.

2. Is there anywhere in the Midwest where I can rent those large glass vessels
used for floating candles, flower petals, and things of that nature?

3. Where is the best place to find affordable balloons if we want to do those elaborate balloon art displays for the hall (either locally or maybe in a major city like Chicago)?

4. Any recommendations on where to shop for bridal and groom shoes (Midwest vs. a big city like Chicago)?

That's enough interrogation for now. 🙂

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Best regards,

Sasha

I honestly think if you ever found yourself down in those old wine cellars in Napa, you could probably hammer out just about any deal you wanted.

You know, you can actually find some local florists that rent out those fancy decorative bowls, vases, and all that extra decor stuff. Honestly, I’m thinking about just hitting up my local flower shop to rent everything I need—vases, vessels, the whole nine yards—rather than wasting money buying things I'll probably just end up storing in the garage forever.

It really all boils down to whether you’re talking about those helium-filled balloons or just the standard air-filled ones. If we're talking about the regular kind, I'm pretty sure they usually sit at around... $0.67I was just sitting here thinking about how much stuff you can actually get done with a little bit of helium—like, if you grab a balloon filled with helium and maybe some CCA too, you've got a whole different set of possibilities on your hands. $2.75 If you're looking for everything in one spot, honestly, just head over to Indianapolis—there's this one shop right behind the Super center that carries absolutely everything you could possibly need.

When it comes to shoes, honestly, it all just boils down to how much cash you’re willing to part with and what kind of style you actually gravitate toward.

That’s all I’ve got for you today!👍

Anyone from the Midwest or maybe even up near Napa have any experience with weddings at the Knežev Vinograd resort by the pools? I used to go there to swim all the time when I was a kid and it was honestly amazing. Plus, I’m really hoping I can pull off my dream here: an outdoor wedding. It’s perfect because they actually have an indoor restaurant too, just in case the weather turns sour. But since the wedding is set for June 2008, I’m a little stuck—do they even rent out the hall then? That might be right when their peak swimming season kicks off 🤔.

We’re planning on ordering some wine from Mandicevci-misl... if that's even the right name. It’s actually quite good—definitely an upgrade from the stuff in Napa. We can get it through our connection for about 13-$5.00/l, though that’s just the bulk stuff without labels. If we want the labeled bottles, it jumps up to 23-$8.25/l.

Yay, finally a dedicated thread for us Midwesterners! 🙂(I say that with a tiny bit of hesitation, because there might have been one before and I just missed it.)
We’ve checked out quite a few restaurants and hotels, though obviously not every single spot in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. We eventually settled on the Zelenkrov motel near Čepin because we had heard nothing but glowing reviews; the pricing was fair, the atmosphere was lovely, and they truly felt like consummate professionals. For the best deals, we found Bendek to be very affordable, as was that hall in Tenji run by the owners of either Dolac or Severus (I can't recall which one). It’s definitely worth calling around to the local hotels (like those in Indianapolis, Waldinger, Central, or Mursa...), and checking out spots like Vatren '98, Kopika, El Paso, and so on. You can expect prices to range from $33 for a single dinner up to...
Here is a link featuring some various restaurants and catering services:
As for wedding dresses, you can rent, buy, or even have one custom-made. There are plenty of boutiques in Indianapolis, plus a couple in Sarvas and Čepin. Honestly, it might be worth driving out to Buffalo, the Corridor, Canada, or even just Vinkovci if you want to save some money. You can pick up cheaper bowties, balloons, boutonnieres, or fabric for sewing there... and they also offer dress rentals that come with all the accessories—you can keep them for a week without any customs headaches.
For rings, I highly recommend the d.b. jeweler on Kapucinski; their prices are great, and they offer excellent rates for gold buybacks (we’re actually trading in some old gold for our new rings, so it’s going to work out super for us 🙂). They can craft any design from a photo, and you get a certificate along with a lifetime guarantee for any repairs or alterations.
Regarding live music, I’d suggest Vigor or Joker.
For flowers, you can get some beautiful, budget-friendly arrangements from the florists at the market. Of course, the other florists do gorgeous work too, especially Alstromeria.
If you need invitations, Grafoart in Đakov offers the most reasonable prices. If you're feeling crafty and want to DIY them, there is some great paper available at hobby shops like Hobyart and Zlatan Ruka.
You’ll find a huge selection of wedding supplies (cake toppers, ribbons, dessert boxes, decorations, balloons...) at Vigus (located on Strossmayerov or right behind Super) and at Bračni Voda in Blok Centar 2.
For more affordable glass bowls, decorative stones, or candles, check out stores like Pevec, Home Depot, and similar places. And don't be afraid to pop into those little discount shops—you can often find really sweet, inexpensive items there.
The Yellow Pages should give you a mountain of phone numbers to start your search.
Goodness, that was a long one. Sorry!
If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask! 🙂

I honestly, all I’ve ever heard about Greenwood is nothing but glowing praise, especially when it comes to the food and how friendly the staff is there.👍

Just a little heads-up... the marriage water lines are shut off right now... so you might want to avoid looking for them there just in case.

Anyone know where I can pick up some high-quality paper for invitations in Indianapolis? Looking for that simple cream-colored ribbed texture, also for thank-you notes—maybe even some cardstock options if anyone has leads... Oh, and does anyone know where to find formal rectangular envelopes in cream too?🙂Thanks for the help

It’s basically sitting there in the hands of a master...
And you can find the envelopes in all the local bookstores... check out Barnes & Noble downtown, they should have everything you need.
