I'm not sure. I received all my sacraments at a different parish, and when we went to ask the priest, he just told me to get a fresh copy of my baptismal certificate and call it a day. But honestly, you should probably just check with them directlyβ€”requirements vary from place to place.πŸ™‚

..hey there! I wanted to jump in here too... I'm based out of Columbus, and my wedding is still about five and a half months away, but honestly, we've already dove headfirst into all the planning. We've checked off the band, the venue, and the dress... so right now, we are officially on the hunt for desserts! I'm just not quite sure what the going rate is these days, so I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations?
I've been eyeing the Boso discount shop over at the VC, where they're charging $0.63 per pastry, and apparently, if you order more than 1,300 pieces, you get to pick out a wedding cake for free! I know their sweets are usually pretty delicious, I'm just a little worried about whether the total price is going to break the bank...

...as for everything else... I actually know this really great candle maker located over on Reisner's near the water works; they do custom orders and the quality is just top-notch..
...also, if you're looking for things like boutonnieres or all those little decorative bits, it's probably super worth it to just grab everything at the mall... they have everything in stock... for example, getting 20 boutonnieres would be 2.5 miles... they have tulle, roses, silk bows, just basically everything under the sun... it's the same deal with their decorative ceramics and glassware, too...
...but now I'm wondering again: where do you think is the best place to go to have the bride's bouquet made?
😍

My in-laws are hosting the wedding this coming spring, so I’m trying to get the lay of the land based on your experiences... maybe some little details I should be looking out for.
I heard a rumor they use those tall, skinny glassware arrangements for the centerpieces? Does anyone actually know if that's true?
And is there any rule against decorating the wall behind the newlyweds?

We have our final sit-down with the owner coming up soon, but I’d love to go in knowing as much as possible! 😁

We actually have a wedding at GreenCove too! When we booked, I asked the owner if they provided anything for the tables, and he told me they don't have anythingβ€”everything usually comes with the floral arrangements. Maybe things have changed since then? I was asking back in October last year. As for the wall decor, I'm not sure either.

Has anyone ever tried making their own invitations or thank-you notes? I’ve been looking into some reverse stamping... Could someone shoot me a quick DM to explain the process? Thanks in advance!

And driftingcobra7, did you get those ribbons from a specialty shop or somewhere else?

Well, we actually ended up making our own invitations! I can definitely send you a private message tomorrow to walk you through it, but honestly, it’s pretty straightforwardβ€”you just need a little bit of creativity, some free time, and a decent internet connection.πŸ™‚
..as for the ribbons, you can find them in plenty of places; there are shops specifically dedicated to that stuff, but you can usually pick some up at fabric stores too... basically, once you arrive, you'll definitely find something, and if not, you can just ask anyone and they'll point you in the right direction...

you might want to get them on the books sooner rather than later... before someone else grabs their dates.

how are they already booked up?
and how much "ahead of time" are we talking here... I honestly thought we were still early since there's still a year and 4 months until...

I paid my musicians upfront back in February of last year for their services through October of this year. It wasn't just early; it was nearly too late.

It looks like they've really blown up lately and everyone wants them, especially since a friend of mine had to book them a whole year ahead of time. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll be slammed if you call later, but honestly, you can never book too early... if you know they're the ones you want, just go for it.

Honestly, "early" or "late" is such a relative concept; it really all comes down to the scheduling.
If you’re trying to book during peak wedding season when everyone is scrambling for dates, then yeah, anything feels late. But if you pick the off-season when things quiet down, you can usually snag a later date without much trouble.
And I'm not just talking about the band hereβ€”this logic applies to basically everything you'd need to book.
Typically, the busiest months are May, June, September, and October.
So, just use those windows to gauge how much lead time you actually need.

I honestly can't believe they didn't bother to list the location in the wedding expo announcement... but I guess that kind of thing is just par for the course around here.πŸ‘Ž

Hello everyone... I posed this question a few months back, but since I didn't get any responses then, I figured I would try my luck again. Has anyone here hosted a wedding at the Troy Hotel? I am looking for some honest impressions before making a decision.
Thanks in advance..πŸ™‚

Does anyone have a recommendation for a top-tier wedding band from the Midwest? Also, does anyone happen to know what their typical rates look like these days? Thanks in advance!

I’d have to say Sax, though if I keep raving about them I might as well be their PR agent...🀣 But honestly, they were incredible when they played at my friend's place, just totally nailed it. As for the price, I haven't a clue, so you're probably better off just giving them a call to ask, though maybe check with cosmicmarlin20 since she's thinking about booking them.
