Klonopin acts as an anticonvulsant, but it's also frequently used in psychiatry to help stabilize mood—though its chemical makeup actually includes components that provide an anxiolytic effect too.
I’m actually pretty happy with it—though, if I'm being totally honest, xanax is still my absolute favorite when it comes to anxiolytics (talking about anxiolytics specifically, not mood stabilizers, of course)—but I definitely wouldn't want to go calling for that little devil again. Not a chance!😲🙄

It's true that xanax is the best, but like you said... trying to quit it? God forbid anyone has to go through that.

But man, these mood swings are hitting me hard. I tried taking Lamictal for them, but it didn't really do anything for me...

I'm certain she knows exactly why she's doing what she's doing. The rest of us are just guessing and playing fool (if anyone actually bothered to read what an expert writes)... 😲
I really hope you start feeling better soon; we don't have much choice but to wait things out... ☕

I'd take something just to feel some spark of interest in living again, but I'm too tired to even bother trying. Something to actually get me out of bed in the morning, so I might actually want to go outside for a walk or whatever. But apparently, every antidepressant hits everyone differently. 🤷

Go ask about Wellbutrin; that stuff has me feeling like I have endless energy!!

Yeah, I tried it. Ended up passing out and throwing up everything at once, never touched it again. Worst part was happening at my job—couldn't tell anyone I was on antidepressants without people thinking I'm crazy or judging me. The stigma sucks.🙄

Maybe give homeopathy a shot to help boost your motivation!

Wait, what?? Sorry, my brain is kind of fried from all this nonsense I've been dealing with.🤣

Ugh, it feels like I’m constantly having to clarify things! But okay, let me try again—I was thinking that if you're looking to boost your energy levels and actually find the drive to go for walks, get moving, or dive into some adrenaline-pumping activities, maybe you could check in with a holistic specialist who might suggest something to give you that massive, wake-up call of a boost. Hopefully, that makes my original point a lot clearer!

Hey everyone,

I'm curious about your experiences with Effexor. For those of you taking it, when did you actually start feeling a difference? How long have you been on it, and what dosage are you currently at? Also, do you find it works better if you take it in the morning or at night?
For me, I started with 37.5 mg at night for five months, then moved to 75 mg in the morning for three months... now I've just been bumped up to 150 mg in the morning, though I've only been at this level for two days.....
To be honest, I haven't felt any real improvement during this whole stretch, but my psychiatrist keeps insisting I stick with it.
I also have Lexapro and some stuff for as-needed use. Otherwise, I'm mostly struggling with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

Klonopin actually functions as an anxiolytic because it's structurally a benzodiazepine. Over here in the States, it's widely recognized for treating anxiety, even if some classifications lean toward epilepsy. Word is it has the slowest buildup for tolerance and dependency, so I might give it a shot since I've built up resistance to everything else out there.

So, it actually helps your anxiety? Hmm... I guess I'll ask my doctor about that today. I'm really trying to get off the xanax. 🙂

How much Xanax are you taking? Personally, I've been steady at about 1 mg a day for three years now. Addiction? Please. In my view, if you find yourself needing more and more of something just to function—much like how I once needed one dose of Miralax but now find myself reaching for three—that's just reality. With the Xanax, my dosage hasn't budged, but I might give that Clonazepam a shot.

I’m at about the same milligram count. But the whole Xanax thing is weird to me—sometimes a 0.5 mg dose hits and I’m relaxed for hours, then other times I’ll take 1 mg and I’m still wound up tight as a drum. 😢

As for group therapy—yeah, obviously it isn't everyone's cup of tea. It helped me sort through a lot of stuff, even if it didn't exactly "cure" me. 😁

Addiction is basically when you've been on meds for a long stretch and you just can't function without your daily dose, even if the amount stays the same.

It’s honestly weird that it hasn't kicked in yet; it really should have started working by now. :/
You should probably look into something else yourself. It's pretty obvious Valerie isn't doing it for you. No point in just suffering through it.

I only took it once before the side effects absolutely wrecked me...

I asked, but she won't budge... She just said if things don't improve next time, she might try putting me on something like Misery or Xanax, but I just have to wait until then... Easy for them to say it's not a big deal when they aren't the ones going through it.

Switch up your meds; take my word for it. My doctor put me through the ringer for two months, and I was honestly on the verge of losing it completely.🙂

Does anyone else here drink coffee while they're on antidepressants?

I’m a massive coffee addict, but I’ve managed to scale back quite a bit. Now, I just have one small cup in the morning and call it a day. Honestly, I’ve gotten so used to this routine that it feels perfectly fine. I haven't noticed any impact on my anxiety levels, despite what people usually claim happens. But again, I strictly stick to just one cup a day—and it's a quick instant coffee with milk, not a heavy dark roast.

There’s always the ER as a fallback. If you're hitting a wall and feeling like you can't cope, just head straight to the psychiatric ER and talk to someone. Seriously, you've got nothing to lose.
