I’m currently on Xanax during the day and I take melatonin right before bed... honestly, just take it about 30-45 minutes before you plan to crash. It doesn't seem to be addictive, and in my experience, it works just as well whether you take one pill or more—though, I guess one tablet is probably plenty.

Jeremy Scott said:Unfortunately, that's a common trend. Some patients refuse to do any actual work on themselves. They just want a pill to solve everything, then they act surprised when the panic attacks never actually stop.

Quincy:
If you take Lorazepam exactly as your doctor prescribed, it won't damage your brain. Lorazepam isn't a street drug; it's a legitimate medication with specific medical uses. It should only be taken and dosed under strict physician supervision.
Ignoring anxiety does massive damage to the body and all its organs. Long-term, it can lead to serious, debilitating illnesses.
So I guess I'm some kind of medical anomaly and my psychiatrist lied to me.
I might go sue them. Maybe I'll hit a big settlement.

Drugs like Lorazepam and xanax are nothing more than standard narcotics that create incredibly strong dependencies. I know because I felt it myself while detoxing from Lorazepam. Those three days were pure hell.

People take these medications because they don't have the tools to manage their own panic attacks. The ultimate goal is to teach the patient how to fight back against the panic on their own.

You went through withdrawal for 3 days 😁😁? Man, you really put yourself through it. Based on how aggressive you're being with your writing, I’d almost think you were detoxing for three months instead of just three days...

I’ve been reading online that this is an SSRI. Since it was only approved by the FDA two months ago, please let me know how it works for you. I will be patient.
I don't expect anything revolutionary, but I suppose there's always a chance I could be wrong. 🤔🙂
I have decided to stay on Cipralex for the time being.

I did some reading on the web. Apparently, it has a faster onset, and it supposedly boosts serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine all at once. It seems primarily targeted toward depression; according to the studies, it isn't particularly effective for anxiety. It wouldn't be my first choice for panic attacks either, given that it raises dopamine levels.

Kimberly Morris said:I’ve seen plenty of women on these forums who were taking both antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds while pregnant, and they all say the same thing—they had perfectly healthy babies. Like, totally fine, healthy kids. Everything looks great on paper: perfect health scores, hitting all the milestones, sleeping through the night, eating well... you name it. But how are we supposed to know if that same kid isn't going to run into issues down the road because of those meds their mom was on? Honestly, I'm terrified, and I'm just constantly fighting this internal battle about it.

A close friend of mine was also hospitalized at a psychiatric clinic. The clinical consensus was that staying on medication was the best course for her mental stability. They prescribed her Cipralex as well.

Thanks so much for mocking my struggles. I hope you're feeling pretty proud of yourself right about now.

Hey everyone, both the regulars and the new faces :P . So, basically, like I mentioned before, I was on Zoloft for about 6 months paired with Xanax. Honestly? I have no clue if it actually did anything because now I’m not taking any of that stuff except for my heart meds. Seriously though, if you can find any kind of alternative, please try. All that heavy chemical stuff just burns you out. My doctors here in the States were basically just throwing everything at me—telling me my arrhythmias were "psychosomatic" or whatever, until I ended up needing a pacemaker. Reading some of these posts makes me laugh; people are so clueless. Sure, every drug fixes one thing, but they wreck ten other things in the process. I did a ton of digging into this because of my nightmares, but God, I am never touching that stuff again. If you can ditch those pills, just do it. Not trying to act like a genius here, but I know enough. When I was 20, I cycled through Prozac, Sulpiride, Ativan... then later Praxiten, then Xanax, then Zoloft, until I finally just said, "Enough is enough." All those drugs mess with your heart rhythm. My cardiologist is actually shocked I haven't lost my mind yet. So yeah, that's the deal with our mental health professionals. Peace out, hang in there, and don't mind me.

😵 In that case, it isn't right for me, and I have no interest in trying it.🤣
Since my primary struggle is anxiety, I will stay on Lexapro for now.

True, why don't they develop more of those anxiolytics? 😢
Look, just hang in there on the Lexapro for now; it will eventually take effect. My own anxiety has decreased significantly thanks to it, especially when paired with psychotherapy.

Sending best wishes,

Sending best wishes,

I agree. My doctor mentioned that Lexapro works well for anxiety, even at a half dose. If I can manage without any side effects, we might go back to the lower dosage if my anxiety flares up again.
Which anxiolytics actually offer more potent anti-anxiety effects? 🤔
Wishing everyone in love a happy Valentine's Day.🎉

I used to get these massive panic attacks while on Lexapro. Like, seriously intense stuff. I spent the whole time just waiting for it to finally kick in, but honestly? It never really did. I never felt right on it.

Panic attacks are truly awful. I deal with them occasionally. For me, the most difficult part is that underlying sense of dread that triggers anxiety, which then feeds back into more fear in a constant loop. I am also quite sensitive to side effects, making it hard to tell if a sensation is caused by the medication or just my own anxiety. It feels like I am as fragile as a snowflake, even though I certainly don't look the part. The brain is a strange organ.☕

I agree; I am also quite sensitive to anxiety disorders. However, Lexapro seemed to work effectively for me. For now, I am simply keeping my fingers crossed.

So, I just started taking 10mg Lexapro. The plan is to do half a pill for the first week and then move up to the full dose. Today is only day two, but I’m already stressing out because I read online that this stuff can cause impotence. Honestly, that is a total dealbreaker for me. I want to make sure everything stays working perfectly down there, just like it always has, otherwise I am straight-up quitting this treatment immediately. Can anyone share what they’ve actually dealt with?

Also, one more thing—I’m not even on Lexapro for depression or anxiety. I’m taking it because I have this constant, chronic lack of motivation and zero drive to get anything useful done. What kind of behavioral shifts should I actually be looking out for?

You didn't mention whether your doctor actually prescribed these antidepressants to you or if you're just experimenting to see what happens...??
Lexapro isn't going to work the way you're imagining it will. It isn't just about the Lexapro specifically; it's about antidepressants in general.
If you don't actually have depression, then why on earth do you think it's going to pull you out of... a depression??

Motivation, willpower, desire, and all that—those things come from changing your habits and your lifestyle.

Kevin Nguyen3 actually went and asked his doctor to get some meds for me since I’ve been feeling pretty depressed lately. She didn't even make a big deal out of it, just brushed it off like, "Oh, it's just typical teenage angst," blah blah blah.

But seriously, you gotta tell me—what's the deal with erectile dysfunction? That's the stuff I'm actually worried about...

I have this aunt who takes Zoloft and she is absolutely wild! She's constantly cracking jokes, talking total nonsense, and treats everything like one big prank. Honestly, it's kind of hilarious.

🤔

As for impotence... honestly, I doubt anyone actually has all the answers. It feels like such an individual thing, doesn't it? In my view, impotence is primarily a psychological issue—it’s all happening up there in the brain. Whether certain medications can trigger or speed up those issues? I haven't the slightest clue.

You are an utterly unserious individual. Truly! Is there even a shred of gravity left in this world? I mean, honestly, where does one even begin with such a lack of decorum? It is quite frankly baffling!👎
