and while it's true I'm not crying nearly as much as I was, those dark thoughts are still hanging around...

Do you think I should hang in there a little longer?
🤷

How long have you been on the Zoloft?

So, no luck with sleeping? 😂
Hang in there—maybe you'll finally start feeling some progress today if you can manage to cut out the valium!

It’s been about five years, though I haven't been on it constantly.
For the last year and a half, I was just on 25 mg—my doctor actually thought about tapering me off completely.
But then a month ago, I hit a really dark patch with depression, so they bumped me up to 50.
Then, about thirteen days ago, they moved me up to 100 mg.

🤷

Antidepressants either work or they don't. You can't just cycle through them with breaks—it’s like you aren't even taking anything. Are you doing any psychotherapy?
Just slowly get back on Zoloft. The max dose is usually 200 mg.

I'm not talking about skipping days; I've been on them daily for two years now.
I am seeing a therapist.
It’s just frustrating because the increased dosage hasn't really kicked in yet.

You mentioned somewhere that you stopped taking it for a while, if I caught that right.
And honestly, 25 mg isn't even a real dose. You were basically under-medicated. It’s almost like you weren't even taking anything at all. That's probably why things went downhill. The max dose is 200 mg. Your psychiatrist is probably just scaling you up slowly so you don't get hit with all the side effects at once.
Just hang in there a bit longer.😉

But I'm wondering, should it have started working by now,
or have I just built up a tolerance since I've been on it for years?

If you're only on 25 mg, of course it hasn't worked yet. If you'd been on 200 mg for a long time and still felt nothing, then maybe we could say the Zoloft isn't doing anything for you. Once you actually hit a full dose—wait 3 or 4 weeks, then you'll know.😉

Five years ago, I started at 50 mg, then bumped up to 75, so I'm glad I
went slow getting up to 25.

I've been on 100 mg for 13 days now, and I really don't want to increase the dose,
since this whole process is such a drag.

Does anyone know if 13 days is enough time for a 100 mg dose to actually kick in?

Hard to say for sure. The max dose is 200 mg. Usually, you just keep bumping it until you see results. I guess you'll just have to see how your head feels.

So I went to see a psychiatrist because I was dealing with some mild depression, and he put me on Prozac and valium. Well, after my third dose—half a pill of the Prozac—I felt absolutely terrible. Now? I can't even look at the stuff without feeling sick. Anyone else here actually dealt with Prozac? What was your experience like?

Are we psychiatrists here, or is this your doctor? 😕

Look...🙄

She mentioned that if things don't start looking up soon, she'll switch my prescription,
but honestly, I'd really rather not go through that.
That's why I'm asking—what has your experience been like with Zoloft?

Just look at the facts... ask her anything you need to know. Nobody here is a psychiatrist, and nobody knows exactly when a med will start working for someone else. It doesn't work the same way for everyone. How many times have people already told you this??

You've asked about Zoloft a hundred times now. Honestly, enough is enough. Or maybe you're just trolling, who knows... If it were up to me, I'd have banned you from the psychology board by now. Too bad I don't make the rules.

I'd ban you too,
there's no need to be rude—if it bothers you, just ignore it.

🤷Are you doing okay now?🤷

I mean, yeah, basically half-dead. I couldn't get anything done and felt like I could just sleep for 24 hours straight.
And honestly, Cipralex didn't really work better for me either; I was still depressed, just maybe not as intensely.
But with Wellbutrin, things actually improved... I feel way too good, actually, like I've got all this energy and willpower again...

I guess every medication hits everyone differently, so I don't think you should give up—just keep trying stuff until you find the one that actually works for you.

The only thing right now is these side effects from the Wellbutrin, but hopefully they'll chill out soon.🙂

So, I decided to throw a 10 mg dose of Celexa into the mix alongside my usual "horse dose" of 300 mg of Wellbutrin... and honestly, the mental fog is finally lifting and those dark, depressing thoughts are starting to clear out.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this combo actually does the trick.🙏

What exactly were you feeling when things went south?
I didn't deal with any side effects from the Celexa, though it wasn't on it for very long, nor did it really do much... at least not until the dosage was bumped up to 25 mg.
Once I dropped back down to 10 mg, I felt fine for about three months, but then the depressive symptoms came crawling back.
So I upped it to 25 mg again, but it was like hitting a wall; there was zero effect left (I'd been on 25 mg for three months already).
My doctor ended up switching me over to Wellbutrin.

I felt this absolute crushing sensation—like my nerves were literally snapping or I was about to drop dead right then and there. But honestly? It’s just me. I see other people going through the same thing and they aren't even feeling it half as hard. We're all wired differently, isn't that just how it goes?
