Nathan Kim10 said:Listen, if you actually have bipolar disorder, then your medication is completely to blame.😢😲

it isn't bipolar
Clinical Profile
We're looking at mood instability that persists over a long stretch of time—involving frequent bouts of mild depression and mild hypomania. It typically kicks in during early adulthood and can turn into a chronic condition, even though those "normal" mood stretches might last for months at a time. The condition is similar to bipolar disorder, except the symptoms aren't quite as extreme (mostly involving manic, depressive, or mixed manic-depressive episodes). These mood swings aren't triggered by outside life events. Cyclothymia can eventually evolve into full-blown bipolar disorder, where the intensity of the moods becomes much more severe.
Cyclothymic disorder involves chronic mood fluctuations lasting longer than two years (or one year for children and adolescents), characterized by numerous depressive symptoms and hypomanic episodes.

I’m dusting off this old topic just out of pure curiosity regarding these tablets. To be totally honest, the last month has been a bit of a wreck for me—I went through a breakup, I’ve been feeling pretty low on self-worth, and it feels like life is just throwing one annoying curveball after another at me. It’s incredibly frustrating. Honestly, I just need something to help me chill out and find some balance because right now, I feel like a ticking time bomb that goes off every few days, and it never ends well for me or the people around me. I’ve heard these things are plant-based and won't get you hooked, and since I'm fairly certain this is just a temporary rough patch in my life (it’s happened before), I was wondering if anyone thinks they might actually help me stay level-headed.

I always figured it was just a milder version of bipolar. Authors don't really agree, though. Usually, you just end up having to switch up your meds

It isn't bipolar, though the symptoms overlap quite a bit. That said, during the cycle 😬 the symptoms don't hit nearly as hard.
Regardless, I'm with you—if fadedbear92 actually has cyclothymia, then the therapy they're using just isn't cutting it.

Ugh, you guys are such a drag😁—I’m getting my new meds tomorrow, and then I’ll turn into a werewolf just to scare you all😂🤣😲

You won't, because werewolves only hunt under the cover of darkness, while you'll be out cold from that new therapy 🙂

I've been sipping on some Valerian tea lately, but honestly? I don't feel much of anything. Anyone else tried it? Or should I just stick to the actual pills if I want something that actually works?

I honestly think Tylenol hits harder than any kind of deep despair—sorry, I meant tea.

Sorry, don't have time to read all this. Were you taking Elon Musk for depression or anxiety?
thanks

I don't really get why psychiatrists can be so stubborn, you know? Like, if you tell them a new treatment isn't actually making things better, they just keep insisting they're right and try to prove you wrong instead.

Pills have basically become a fad! It’s always one trendy med this year, then another one next year, just going on and on forever. 😳

I can't speak to what your doctor is doing, but my psychiatrist was constantly tweaking my meds, cycling through one treatment after another until we finally landed on something that actually worked.😍

My psychiatrist is really hesitant about switching up my medication. He argues that dealing with the side effects of adjusting to a new prescription is actually worse than just waiting for the current one to kick in or slowly bumping up the dosage.

But what happens when you’re stuck in limbo for months on end, just like I am?
The waiting alone makes you want to throw in the towel entirely.

That’s why, thank God we have decent psychiatrists out there.

velvetsailor26, what are you on about? Are you actually having hallucinations or something?

🤷

Look, I’m not saying I’m psychotic or anything... she just wrote that under my doctor's note so there’d be a way for me to actually get a prescription for Solian.

I've been dealing with anxiety and depression lately.

Taking some Ambien tomorrow and calling out sick

Once I finally get my sleep situation sorted out—fingers crossed—then we can talk about adjusting my medication

I get that, and I guess swapping antidepressants isn't even that smart if they're actually working for you. Just because someone thinks they know everything doesn't mean they do, right? 😁

I mean, why would anyone even bother switching up their ADHD medication if the current stuff is actually doing its job?😵
Look, changing your meds is really only necessary when the ones you’re on stop working altogether.

Have you dealt with something like that personally?🤷
