So, I stopped taking my birth control pills last month after about eighteen months,
before that my cycles were all over the place, but they finally leveled out once I started the pill.
Last month, we had some unprotected sex right during my fertile window,
and based on my math, I was expecting my period around Friday or maybe Saturday, the 22nd or 23rd.
I took a test on Friday the 22nd, and it came back negative.
I haven't really noticed any pregnancy symptoms or even PMS,
though I did have a bit of nausea about a week and a half after ovulation, but that was it.
So, I guess itโ€™s pretty likely my period will just show up in a few days,
since everything is going back to how it was before I quit the pill. Am I right?

It took me quite a while for my body to get back into its own rhythm after I quit the pill...๐Ÿ˜‰ though, honestly, everyone is different, so don't read too much into my experience. Just hang tight for a few more days and take another test.๐Ÿ˜‰

Ladies, I have a quick question for you all... my last period started on September 23rd, and we had intercourse during what I thought were my fertile days.
It's already day 41 and my period still hasn't arrived... I actually took a pregnancy test a couple of days ago, but it came back negativeโ€”that's three tests in a row now.
I'm just wondering if those were truly my fertile days; I felt like my ovulation was spot on, but now I'm completely confused... I haven't had any PMS symptoms at all, and I don't even have that feeling like my period is about to start.

Oh my goodness, I am just so lost... I'm trying to figure out how to calculate this right now... should it be a few days after my period, or maybe a few days before the next one starts?? I have no idea, it's so confusing!

Sarah, did you track your basal body temperature or use LH ovulation strips? If your cycles were irregular before you were on birth control, itโ€™s pretty tough to rely on just calculating fertile days right after stopping the pill.

Hereโ€™s my own situation this month: I took three testsโ€”11 days post-ovulation (I know, I was being impatient! ๐Ÿ˜), then 13 DPO, and then 15 DPO. All of them came back negative. Today, at 16 DPO, my basal temperature is still high, and I still haven't started my period, even though my luteal phase is usually exactly 14 days. I went to get my blood drawn for a beta HCG test, and it came back at 6.6 mIU/ml (anything under 5 means no pregnancy). But it's still too low for home tests to pick up, since they usually need at least 25 mIU/ml to react. Since that level is so low this many days after ovulation, I'm guessing it might have been a chemical pregnancy, so I'm just hoping my period arrives within a week. I'm not feeling any PMS or pregnancy signs either...

If you are 100% sure about when you ovulated, my best advice is to go get a blood test to check your beta HCG levels. That will give you a definitive answer on whether you're pregnant or not.

Oh, come on, don't be silly! You can't seriously expect girls over here to just magically know how long your natural cycle lasts or when your fertile window actually hits.. ๐Ÿ˜

If your cycles were already this long before you started the pill, there's a good chance you aren't even ovulating until day 30โ€”or maybe you aren't ovulating at all. Honestly, there are like a dozen different ways that could play out.

I should probably just pass along some advice from one of our regulars who always tells women looking for a gynecological diagnosis on this forum: grab your bestie by the hand and walk into that doctor's office together. ๐Ÿ˜‰

HCG 1-Step Direct Pregnancy Test

I was wondering if any of you ladies have ever tried using this specific pregnancy test before? I am really hoping someone can reassure me that it isn't prone to giving false positives... ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

Itโ€™s just one of those budget-friendly tests for $8.25, basically just a little strip inside a clear plastic casing... The thing is, it keeps showing a positive result for me, but I find myself doubting it simply because the price point seems so low... ๐Ÿ˜‚

Has anyone else here had any experience with this particular brand? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Look, I don't care if the test cost you five bucks or fifty, it doesn't change a thing. If it comes back positive, then CONGRATS on the pregnancyโ€”I truly hope everything goes smooth and perfect for you

Of course it isn't prohibited, though one must realize that the ladies on this forum have no way of knowing the specifics of your ovulation cycle. If you find yourself feeling uncertain or confused by the process, might I suggest that the most prudent course of action would be to consult with your own OB-GYN?

Well, I guess I wasn't really trying to ask if I was ovulating at that exact moment, but rather if what I'm thinking might actually be possible, given everything happening and all these new developments!

We've actually touched on this topic here on the forum already... there really isn't such a thing as a false positive... from what I've gathered, they might give you a false negative, but if it shows a positive, then it's positive. Congratulations on the T! I truly hope everything goes smoothly for you.๐Ÿ™‚

Alright, here's the lowdown on my OBGYN visit... went in yesterday since my period is super late. It's been over 22 days now, so I was totally hoping I finally knockeded it up. We've been trying for like 4 or 5 months straight with zero luck, and sadly, this month was another bust. I'm pretty sure we timed it perfectly last monthโ€”hit it right on ovulation day or maybe just a day before or afterโ€”and since I know sperm can hang around for a couple of days, I thought for sure it would work. But nope. My doctor mentioned my left ovary looks a bit polycystic, which basically means getting pregnant might be an uphill battle. He tried to play it cool though, saying nothing is set in stone and some women barely even have periods and still conceive. Still, I'm freaking out because I want that positive test so bad and itโ€™s just not happening...
Maybe I just need to chill and stop obsessing. Anyway, my doctor put me on Duphaston to get my period started, so I started taking those today. I'm already on day 52 of my cycle. Got one more question, might sound dumb but whatever. :About a week ago, I noticed that stretchy discharge and my ovaries were actually aching . Is it possible my ovulation was just that delayed? Like, 15 days after my period was supposed to show up? And can you actually get pregnant after your period was already overdue? I don't have any symptoms that my period is coming soon either. I'm totally lost... the doctor says everything looks fine on the ultrasound, except for those cysts. ๐Ÿ˜•

A friend of mine did two pregnancy tests recently and both were positive. She thought she was pregnant even though her period wasn't even late yet. She went to see her OBGYN and he told her there was zero sign of pregnancy on the ultrasound. Apparently, the tests flagged positive because she had a huge ovarian cyst. They say tests can sometimes react to cysts, and some even claim you could get a false positive if you test right during ovulation. Just found that out from her doctor yesterday. Maybe these things are super rare, but hey, it happens. And from my own experience, I know false negatives happen too. When I got pregnant six years ago, my test came back negative, then a few days later I saw my doctor and I was already 4 or 5 weeks along. I should probably mention my ovaries looked kind of polycystic back then too, so who knows... but I definitely ended up pregnant, even if it wasn't planned. Now? I'm having the hardest time. Maybe the issue is him???

I honestly can't say for sure, but I have heardโ€”though I'm not entirely certain how much truth there is to itโ€”that some women actually experience two ovulations within a single cycle.

Hey everyone, so I had some unprotected sex about a few months agoโ€”multiple times, though he didn't finish insideโ€”and my period was five days late after that, but luckily it showed up and lasted a good eight days... but now I'm expecting it by the 30th and it still hasn't arrived, so what are the actual odds I somehow ended up pregnant anyway? Or maybe I just caught a cold and it's messing with my cycle... any idea what symptoms I should be looking out for to tell if I'm actually pregnant?

You might experience pregnancy symptoms like sore or swollen breasts, being extra sensitive to smells, nausea, mood swings, possible twinges in your ovaries, needing to pee more often, dizziness, or feeling tired and having a faster heart rate. Everyone is different, so you don't necessarily have to feel all of them, but you might.
It sounds like your cycle isn't perfectly regular, so it's not unusual for your period to be late.
Look, like the title suggests, if you're worried, just go grab a pregnancy test (you should already have one from $10, which would show a result if this is the same situation, though I honestly doubt it) or just make an appointment with your doctor.
In my opinion, the chances of you being pregnant are pretty slim.
Good luck, I hope everything turns out exactly how you want it to. ๐Ÿ‘
