steelfox15 said:Wait, hold up—if you aren't supposed to eat it, why even bother putting it on top of the whole damn cake? That’s just straight-up insane to me. I mean, when someone hands me a cake, my default setting is "eat it." If there's some weird rule about what's off-limits, I'd at least expect a little heads-up first :P
I didn't hear anyone say it *can't* be eaten; it's more like, obviously you shouldn't eat it because it's garbage

It’s not that it's physically impossible to eat, it’s just that it tastes terrible. It’s like those cheap marzipan candies—sure, they're sweet, but they leave a bad taste in your mouth. Honestly, the cake itself is much more substantial than that frosting

So, what kind of cake are we talking about?

How many people do you have on your team?

So, here’s the breakdown for a square-tier cake designed for 240 people. Once we get a final headcount—since we’ve sent out about 315 invites—I’ll bump up the order if needed. My best guess is we’ll end up with somewhere between 240 and 270 guests actually showing up.

They told me I need enough cake for 140 people across four tiers, and since every layer is the same size, does that mean I'm going to end up with way too much?

I honestly have no clue—it really just depends on how many tiers we're talking about. My cake was square, and the base tier was easily at least 24x24 inches, if not bigger, and then you just stack smaller ones on top until you hit the peak. Maybe I didn't explain the dimensions very well the first time around. Anyway, the thing was massive. The top tier felt like one of those standard round cakes, maybe around 10 or 11 inches? Just giving you a rough idea. And since square cakes yield more servings and cut differently than rounds, I really can't tell you if you'll have too much left over without knowing exactly what you ordered.

I’m still honestly a bit stumped here... if I decide to go with the version where every single tier sits on its own individual stand—then sure, I can just grab all the fruit flavors without a second thought... but if they're going to be stacked one on top of the other, then I’ve got a real dilemma on my hands because I haven't quite figured out which ones to pick yet...

I’d actually love it if someone could whip up something using whipped cream, but somehow make it look just like that fancy Tic Tac style candy... it’s not even that I’m particularly fond of those little mints for any real reason—honestly, it's purely about the aesthetic for me...

The cake is a total disaster. It’s not quite as massive as yours, but it isn't exactly miles away from your proportions either—it's just a mess. I'm honestly worried it won't be enough to feed everyone.

I’ve always been a believer in keeping a little extra on hand—you know, just in case—because if there’s some left over, you can always split it up, but if you end up coming up short... well, then you're really in a bind...

Honestly, you should probably do a little more digging with that bakery where you ordered the treats—maybe ask them if they know any other local shops that handle big orders, or just double-check what size cakes they usually do and if they can actually pull off a massive batch without breaking a sweat.

I’m thinking the same thing—if I have anything left over, I’ll definitely share it. When I look at how much I’m already shelling out for everything else, the cost of the cake is just $60. It feels like a drop in the bucket compared to the total budget. My main worry is actually the dessert spread on the tables; I'm stressing over the weight of the pastries and making sure we don't run short. I actually ended up switching pastry chefs because it's pretty rare to find someone who will give you a pound of sweets for $20, but honestly, the quality is great.

Well, if you really want to play it safe and be absolutely certain...
just go ahead and budget for 2 ounces per person.

I swear, at a wedding, I’ll easily polish off at least half a pound of food—but my partner? He won't even touch a single bite... so I guess we always end up somewhere right in the middle 🤣

I’m planning on having about 400 guests at my wedding, and my pastry chef has informed me that I’ll need a cake weighing in at roughly 45 pounds! I actually posted a little photo above where I scaled things up just a bit, but essentially, it’s going to be a two-tier masterpiece. The bottom tier will be roughly 25 by 20 inches, and the top one will be about 22 by 16 inches, so both layers are going to be absolutely massive. Please, please don't worry about there not being enough cake for everyone—honestly, most people barely even touch it anyway!

The cake was actually prepared by my aunts back in a small town in Ohio, and I picked up some of their pastries while I was visiting them $25, everyone was absolutely delighted with everything; they truly tasted like genuine, homemade American treats

None of these are quite The One—but they’re pretty close to what I’ve got in mind.
Honestly, I'm starting to feel a little desperate here. 😢

Chris Sanchez11 - They’re all lovely, really, but I feel like they’re missing a certain... something. Then again, I can't stand it when they're overdone, but these? These feel just a little too plain for my taste...

You know what actually stresses me out? I just want this custom piece to turn out exactly as perfect as it looks in the pictures—you know, that flawless vision—and I'm honestly terrified that nobody is going to nail it quite right... I have such a specific idea of perfection in my head... Honestly, looking at photos from girls online, I've barely seen anyone who actually gets it right, mostly because I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist about these things...
