I think they might even throw you a discount if you bundle their cakes and pastries together.
Oh, right—we actually tried the cakes from Slast. "Piece of cake" is a bit of an understatement; I thought they were delicious!
The reason we didn't go with them was because they usually put chocolate or something more structural on the bottom tier, which limits what you can layer on top—like a parfait or whatever. Since we wanted the whole thing to be parfait, we ended up going with Monika instead.
A friend suggested the "Orient" cakes from Slast, but they don't really do tiered cakes. Your options there are basically just getting several separate cakes; they’ll make one larger one for slicing and then you have the others sitting off to the side.
I'm sorry, but I had a seven-tier cake from Orient where every single layer was a different flavor, and it was fantastic. Everyone kept eyeing each other's plates to try different kinds. I have no idea where you got that information.
Piece of Cake makes excellent mini pastries...every single one has a distinct flavor so you actually know what you're eating. It’s not like those other bakeries where they just use the same cream for five different types of treats.

I honestly have no clue what the price tag looks like for either Orient or Piece of Cake.
Piece of Cake is $40/lb. Orient doesn't carry individual pastries besides tea biscuits (they only do custom cream cakes upon request).

As for how it actually tastes... well, visually it’s pretty damn appetizing... looks great enough

already mentioned this.
Karen Grant9, maybe she actually called them and that’s what they told her?

Look, I'm just reporting what my friend told me. That's the intel I have.
🤷
Since we already ordered our cake somewhere else, I didn't bother asking Orient about their wedding options.

in three days we’ll find out if this disaster actually works 😁

I really love this! 👍
Ours will be pretty similar—though maybe it’ll have some red accents added to it 🙂

I’ve decided to pick up the cake from Zenith, while the rest of the treats will be coming from Delta, so we'll just have to see how it all turns out. We're bringing our own sweets, after all. 🙂

When it comes to cookies, trust absolutely no one but yourself. 😉
It is unfortunate that you were working with incorrect information. Regardless, your cake was absolutely magnificent, and that is what truly matters!

I would highly recommend a certain pastry chef who creates absolutely phenomenal cakes and desserts. She operates as an independent artist, which means her prices are more than half what you'd find at a commercial bakery
To give you some perspective, when I ordered a massive three-tier cake for my friend's twins' christening, it cost me only $133, whereas a local bakery tried to charge me upwards of $800 for the exact same
She offers free delivery, and if I recall correctly, she also handles wedding cakes and other special occasions
Personally, I can't recommend
enough. She covers the entire San Francisco area and the surrounding region with her delivery service
If anyone is interested in getting her number, just send me a private message

Where on earth were you hiding while I spent months hunting for the perfect pastry chef?😉...I need to know if she runs her own shop or just does side gigs under the radar...drop a phone number or her location in my DMs please.

This is seriously good 🙏🙏🙏—hey, do you ever take custom orders from specific people?

Does anyone know where I could pick up some clover-shaped cake decorations in Washington, D.C. or maybe Seattle? They can be edible or just for show...
Please help! 🙏

I actually ended up ordering a cake from Fancy Cake recently... and while I have to admit it looked absolutely stunning on the outside... the inside was a total disaster. My kids actually felt pretty sick after eating it, so I guess I should probably give a little warning: those cakes might look beautiful, but they just aren't much else.

Hey, what’s the verdict on cupcakes for a bachelorette party?? I was thinking about grabbing one for every girl there!
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to drop a link to the site where I found them just to show you how much I'm obsessed 😉

We've already touched on this—maybe try digging through some of those US forums, there might be a mention of the bakery somewhere else
I know plenty of girls who had them at their weddings

Go ahead 😉
Every bakery in town is doing them now. A year ago at the local county fair, people gave me such weird looks when I asked if they had any. 😬

I attended a birthday party this past weekend where I had the opportunity to sample some muffins and cake from a local bakery called "Meli," and I must say, while they were certainly pleasing to the eye, the experience ended there.
The presentation was lovely, but the flavor profile was, frankly, a disaster. The muffins were incredibly dry and tough, and the cake featured a layer of cream so thin it was practically translucent—it lacked any real substance or taste. My suspicion is that the cake was made using fondant; that particular substance is dreadfully rubbery and quite impossible to eat.
It felt like a total waste of money, especially considering the muffins were priced at $6.75/each. 👎
