I find myself on a bit of a quest, searching for someone who specializes in crafting custom cake toppers upon request... if anyone happens to have a recommendation or an offering, please do reach out via private message... or, if you might know of a talented soul in this regard, I would be immensely grateful for the lead.

Actually, there's a regular user here named Migu who does this kind of thing—if you scroll back through a few pages, you should be able to find plenty of her work...

Help, does anyone have any idea where I can pick up a deep-dish cake pan? A friend of my dad's suggested I make a standard wedding cake, but honestly, I’m dead set on doing a massive, extra-tall tier, and now I'm stuck because I have no clue where to find a pan deep enough to actually pull off a wedding-style height??

So, what kind of dimensions are we actually looking at for the cake?

You know those expandable square baking pans—the ones you can pick up at places like Target or Bed Bath & Beyond—that let you stretch the size out to something like... oh, maybe a maximum of 60 x 60...

I’m curious, what did you all end up paying for your wedding cakes?
We were recently presented with a quote for a very basic, two-tier wedding cake intended to serve about 120 guests—just a simple cake-on-cake setup, no fancy stand, absolutely zero special decorations, no little bride and groom toppers, nothing at all for $800?! That works out to roughly $6.75 per slice, and honestly, I can't help but wonder if that's just an astronomical amount for something so plain?😕

I saw those cake pans you were looking at, but honestly? They’re way too shallow. I mean, sure, if you’re just whipping up a casual birthday cake for a kid's party, they’ll do fine. But for a wedding cake? No way. Not happening. They just don't have the height needed to get that professional, tiered look. The diameter is alright—you can always just stack two together if you really have to—but man, they seriously need to be deeper. Just a little more depth and they'd actually be useful for anything beyond a basic snack cake.

They told me 10/10.$4.00 One at a time? Seriously? That feels like way too much to me!

It all felt a bit excessive to us, honestly, and since we haven't had anyone in our circle tying the knot lately, we were completely out of the loop regarding current market prices... so, we’ve decided to scout out some other bakeries this Thursday. I'm curious, though—did you actually get to sample a few different cake flavors beforehand, or were you essentially just ordering on blind faith? Because in our case, they wouldn't let us taste anything; they just told us to pick a flavor, which basically means we'd have to buy several different individual slices just to figure out what we actually like!

I think I saw a set at Muller that included square, round, and even a heart shape. If not there, I'm pretty sure you could find what you need at a Hobby Lobby.

To get that extra height, just bake two separate sponge layers plus cream; that should be more than enough...

If you're looking for more width, you could just join four of those cakes together, so it wouldn't matter if they aren't perfectly flush.

Do you have a photo of what you're envisioning? It would be easier to give advice...

That's incredibly expensive.

Does anyone happen to have photos of cakes that don't look like they were constructed out of quick-dry cement? Honestly, I’m looking for something a bit more appetizing—I really wouldn't want a cake covered in that fondant stuff; to me, it just looks like a slab of concrete. 🙄 Thanks!

I straight-up told my aunt—who's making the cake—that I was basically flying blind here. She usually makes killer desserts and cakes though, so I'm just praying she doesn't totally screw this up right now.🤣

Problem solved! We found an adjustable pan that stretches up to 18 inches, and since the bottom tier of the cake needs to be about 20 inches, we'll just make two 10-inch layers and call it a day. That should work perfectly! I called around to a bunch of places and they all have the exact same thing I have, but I'm definitely heading over to Hobby Lobby to hunt for decorations.🙂👍

If you're hosting 200 people, the math just doesn't really work out—plus, it’s going to be crowded. You could always set up an extra fountain so guests can grab what they want, but I'm not sure how it'll feel without a cake...
$800That's way too much cake for a group of 120.
You can usually find slices at a local bakery in Chicago for $4.00 each, or maybe somewhere even cheaper in the suburbs.

Anyone got a take on Kašman? I think they might have a bakery over in Washington, D.C.... 😕

So, what isn't Kašman?
It was all about them—just go back and check the old threads.

About a year and a half ago we ordered some treats from Kašman and they were honestly incredible. I believe $23 was about a pound. They deliver wherever you need them to go.👍

I’m just asking because their cakes and pies are already baked into my menu prices, so...

Before I lose my mind, will a 12.5x12.5x9cm box actually hold 25 ounces of cookies? And honestly, how many cookies does anyone typically cram into these things?
This is the box I'm looking at, and now I’m starting to think I should have just gone for a larger size.
