The flavor is just gross—honestly, it’s like chewing on paper. You might get a decent bite if you hit the center, but everyone just leaves the outer layer behind, and yet they charge at least $67 more than your standard cake.

Maybe I'll just chill on that and stick to a nice regular cake.😍

It doesn't matter. Marriage is just a series of compromises. 😉 If you don't want the massive version, I'm leaning toward something smaller—it's more my style—and honestly, it sucks that nobody actually eats the food (everyone shows up to stare, but nobody wants to eat—typical). My guy isn't exactly a saint, but he agreed to the smaller setup the second I mentioned he could be a sailing enthusiast. Once I brought up the sailing thing, he was sold. 😁

Are we talking about Swiss chocolate or something else? Because that stuff doesn't taste like paper to me—just pure sugar... either way, I find it equally nauseating. 😬

Anyway, Zlocko—that chocolate-glazed one you have is actually finger-licking good. 👍

I’m not exactly sure how to resize this image, so I guess I’ll just drop the link here instead
this will most likely be ours

I really love the look of the candles on it, honestly—I've never been much of a fan of those spray-on finishes
anyway, she’s asking $533, which makes me wonder... do you guys think that's a bit steep???🤷

Cute little pastry🙂

Whether it's overpriced or not depends entirely on how many people you're feeding. 😉

As for sprinkles, you can put them on this cake or any other one if you feel like it. You don't have to.

See, I get a totally different vibe from brittle... whenever I've been to a wedding, it always seems to just get torn apart... personally, I live for brittle, even if I'm not really a huge cake person myself 😍
he agreed to it, but honestly, just so we wouldn't deal with any stupid comments from the guests....

Comments? If you guys actually like the cake and the tradition, then there isn't much left to debate 😉 Honestly, at every single wedding, someone is going to find something they don't like. At the end of the day, it's about the vision, the effort, and the concept—it's not like every guest is getting married individually, so it doesn't need to cater to everyone's specific taste ☕ give me a break 😉
P.S. For instance, half our guests act totally shocked that we aren't doing chair covers 😁 as if anyone actually cares 🙄 Let them be shocked; at least they'll have something to remember. As if being "different" or "unconventional" is automatically a bad thing. Ugh 😉

Look, there are plenty of good options out there, but none of them really hit the spot for me. 😁 I'm being Selective. 😁
Personally, those chocolate ones—like that Zlocko orange variety—are absolute perfection.
But I was actually picturing something smaller. Maybe different flavors for each one, mostly fruit-based, just so they feel a bit "lighter" after eating all night long. 😁 Like, imagine each cake having its own specific fruit and garnish—yeah, yeah, I know it doesn't strictly match my theme, but fruit is fruit. Something like one being apple, one pineapple, and then who knows? Just something else.
Some of the decorations are honestly stunning, but either they're way too gaudy for my taste or they're made from that cheap imitation stuff. It feels more like a pile of frosting than an actual cake.

this is going to be our 😍

After scrolling through what felt like 500 different photos online—seriously, my eyes are bleeding—I finally settled on this one. Now, I’m just crossing my fingers that they actually pull off these flowers correctly. The cake itself is a classic Swiss meringue buttercream, and the flowers will be made from fondant—not that anyone actually eats those things, anyway, haha.

Arthur Newman77 said:I’m totally feeling this, honestly, but here's the catch—that cake in the photo looks pretty small, right? If we tried to scale it up for a bigger crowd, just imagine how massive those slices would end up being... (the restaurant owner actually pointed that out to me, which I hadn't even considered, oops...) Anyway, I really hope we can pull off something similar to this because I am absolutely obsessed with it...

That cake is adorable. Why not make a larger rectangular version and just replicate this decoration on the front? I think it would look just as stunning.

it would have been a different vibe altogether

Nathan Cox25, I get that you aren't a fan of fondant, but what you're seeing in this photo is chocolate fondant, so I don't think I could achieve this specific look using plain chocolate. Honestly, the cake is just beautiful—simple and elegant.
That said, fondant can actually be quite good if it's made with white or milk chocolate instead of just being pure sugar.

Regarding our cake—yes, it might be a little overdone—but we’ll probably dial back the pink frosting... just so there isn't such a massive visual impact 😁
As for those rose decorations, they're actually edible; I checked with the event coordinator, and essentially the entire cake is edible...

And honestly, the price is great; $3.25 we have the chocolate/walnut option, $4.00 or the fruit one. Our total will likely hit up to $833 since we're doing a mixed selection for about 200 guests... I suppose that's a fair price, though—what do you ladies think?

Terry Miller21—what’s the actual difference between Ticino mass and the stuff you mentioned?

I honestly don’t get how people make their cakes look so damn smooth... even when I’m just making something basic, my frosting always ends up looking like a mess.

Assuming this chocolate one is for some winter wedding out in Chicago or something.

Heheh, I think yours is prettier, though mine might look pretty similar since I'm planning on using real flowers for decoration instead 😍

There isn't much of a difference; they just added dark chocolate to tweak the color.
I just wanted to give you a heads-up since that photo showed chocolate fondant and I know you aren't a fan. I didn't want you to be disappointed if they use chocolate instead, because honestly, I don't think I can replicate that exact same effect using chocolate rather than fondant...

Ugh, does anyone know where I can actually find some decent, traditional whipped cream cakes that don't rely on that weird, processed stuff? Honestly, they all look so unnaturally fake to me. 😕

I would personally prefer this exact design, though I’d love to see it reimagined in an orange and white color scheme instead 😍

The T-zone is absolutely fantastic! 👍
I have always had a certain affinity for things with sharp, geometric edges. 😉
