I immediately checked out that website and sent a message to my friend over in Chicago to head over there and grab some boxes for me—though, in hindsight, I definitely should have picked up the larger ones
Thanks so much for the inspiration and the link!

😉 We ended up with the same ones. After I bought those smaller versions, I realized they were just too tiny, so I went back to swap them for something larger. These are exactly the right size. 👍

I'm honestly just crossing my fingers that the whole thing doesn't fall apart the second I slide the cake inside 😲
but hey, your big day is creeping up fast—are you feeling any nerves yet? And roughly what time are you guys planning to head into the banquet hall?

It won’t fall apart... I actually used one of the boxes to test just how much weight those cookies could handle while I was lugging them around... it held up... barely. There isn't any actual excitement left, just pure adrenaline at this point... and you're getting pretty close too, aren't you? We've drifted off-topic, but I'd estimate the doctor will be in the hall around 7:30. Maybe grab a few appetizers while the guests settle in, then we can kick off the main event at 8:00.

That sounds great! I haven't received my little boxes yet, so I haven't really gotten a feel for how they look in person or how much they can actually take, but hearing your firsthand account makes me feel so much better about everything.

Yeah, I'm getting there too—May 21st can't come soon enough! I'm dying to hear how it goes since we'll be in the same venue. Actually, since I live just a few blocks away from the hall, maybe I could swing by and sketch you next Saturday?😁

The boxes look solid—simple design, but they seem sturdy and well-made. And yes, swing by this Saturday. Just make sure to give me a heads-up so we can actually meet and grab a drink. 🙂

We ended up going with Absum... the price was unbeatable and the pastries were decent enough. I wouldn't call them life-changing, and we aren't planning on serving them to a crowd or anything—we’ve already got a selection of desserts from the hotel on the menu. These are just fine for what we need, so we were basically just looking for a way to shave a little off the budget. The cake is also coming from the hotel, and honestly, I think that’s the real centerpiece of the whole thing anyway.

Just a quick little note—the actual vision here was to have strawberries dipped in chocolate tucked along the side, but since I didn't have any berries on hand at the moment, what you're actually looking at is an apple slice paired with a mint leaf 😍
I just wanted to get a sense of how the final presentation should look!

Nobody's said a word about my dessert yet... 😕
Is it really that bad? Honestly, don't hold back—I can take the heat! If you have some constructive criticism, please, let it rip!

As for me, I’ll pass... looks like I’m headed for a rough time. Besides, what exactly is in that chocolate cup? And where were you planning on putting it? At home, or just kidding?

It’s actually tiramisu inside! Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out my game plan for them—I have no idea how many I'll actually manage to pull off, since making these tiny little chocolate shells is such a massive time sink!

You can pick up those chocolate pieces anywhere, even if they aren't actually any good. Personally, I find them far too bitter... I'm fairly certain you'd have a much better experience with something handmade...

Thank you, thank you so much!
I was actually starting to spiral a little bit and think they looked a bit unappealing since nobody had said anything—so I kept staring at the photo over and over, second-guessing everything...

I unfortunately don't know who makes them, but I did manage to track down a recipe online for those kinds of cookies
http://coolrecepti.blogspot.com/2010...tino-srca.html

Maybe try asking someone in your family—if they're feeling generous—to whip some up for you if you don't need a massive batch!

Thanks though! A girl actually reached out to me who makes absolutely killer cookies 😍 so we’re gonna pack some macarons and those cookies into little tin boxes to give to guests as favors. They'll eat the treats and then they get to keep the tins! 😁

We grabbed all our sweets from Magnolia Bakery. I don't even have the actual cake out right now since I've got this whole cupcake stand set up, plus a bunch of cake slices and little mousse cups lined up on the side. Honestly, their stuff is delicious 🙂

Do you have a photo? I've been hunting for something similar... I checked a few places like Whole Foods and maybe even Trader Joe's... I'm curious about what kind of selection you managed to get. You can also just send me a DM.😉

Finally picked out the cake. We talked about options on Monday, but we ended up putting down a deposit at Magnolia Bakery today.
We handed over the $33 deposit—payment isn't due until after the wedding.
It’s a four-tier setup, somewhat similar to this (except instead of branches, we're going with little bunny figurines 😁)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3609/...21b1a57a05.jpg

Each tier is a different size. For the first three, we can actually do two flavors per level since they're double-layered.
The first two are the same: half Milk Chocolate, half vanilla—chocolate/vanilla combo.
The third one is chocolate orange, and the last is Black Forest (that one isn't a double flavor).
Two tiers have green hearts, the third has a green bow, and one has these vertical stripes. It’s a bit much—colorful everywhere. 🤣 We avoided marzipan because I can't stand it—honestly, I hate almost any kind of fondant—but we ended up going with it anyway. He wanted the look; I wanted the taste. And then there are the bunnies. 😍

Here are the hearts and the stripes 🤣

Nathan Cox25, that cake is going to be fantastic!! 😉
I've always been a fan of the pastries at Magnolia Bakery. To be honest, I was actually pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the pricing was for whole cakes the other day!

Our treats are arriving today... at least the portion meant for the favor boxes and the ones we're keeping at home. 😁 😍

I’ve always had this vision of a tiered cake sitting directly on top of another one—I just think that look is so much more elegant. But it turns out we’re going with the stacked version on separate stands instead, which feels a bit underwhelming to me, I guess, purely because we’ve decided to go with a parfait 😠

Our first version was basically a parfait—we scrapped it because they were worried about the weight distribution. They told me the bottom layer needed a double biscuit base just to stay upright on the stands. So, yeah, you can build it however you want now.
