So, those treats from Quincy, Brezovia—the bite-sized cookies were absolutely delicious, totally homemade, and the cake was exactly what I was looking for: rich yet light and airy 🙂 and they executed it perfectly, just like the photo I brought in.. 😍 It was gone in a heartbeat!

So, our wedding finally wrapped up.

I have to give a massive shout-out to Lido—they handled all the cakes and pastries, and honestly, everyone was obsessed. There wasn't a single crumb left; everything was just gone. They were incredibly professional from start to finish.

The pastries were $27 /kg, and they even threw in free delivery right here in Chicago. Plus, they set everything up beautifully on white rectangular ceramic platters. It looked super classy. We had a huge spread too: fruit baskets, cheesecake, little truffles, three different kinds of chocolate squares, pistachio bites, Sacher slices, Danishes, and even those tiny little princess donuts...

As for the cake, they offer a ton of options. We went with a three-tier strawberry parfait with cream.

Long story short, I highly recommend them.

Jerry Hughes74 said:So, we swung by Monica's place in Ann Arbor yesterday... and man, they were absolutely floored. It’s easily our new favorite spot. We tore into this fruit tart, plus some chocolate and vanilla fudge—honestly, it was killer. And the service? Just incredibly sweet people...😉 plus they whip up these insane cupcakes...!!!!😉I'm calling it now, we've found "the one."🙂

we grabbed some cupcakes from Monica! everyone absolutely loved them, seriously, every single flavor was incredible... it couldn't have been any better... 😍 😍

Man, oh man... 🙂 I am seriously stoked about this... We’re probably just going to swing by her place to grab some cupcakes... because honestly, their cakes are next-level delicious. 🙂

I’m actually obsessed with this design, though I think I’d personally leave out the fruit 🙂

Our cake is going to look exactly like this

Except we’re adding an extra tier and decorating it with real red roses. I actually picked up a picture of this a few months ago; my husband was absolutely floored by it, so now the design is just sitting at my aunt’s bakery waiting to be brought to life 😁😁,
but honestly...
Now Nathan Cox25 has totally planted a seed of doubt in my head—or rather, thrown a wrench in my plans—because the more I stare at it, the more I realize my husband might actually kill me if I suggest changing the cake design after all this. And oh boy... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Alright, I’m officially stepping away from this thread as of today. Once again, I’ve had a change of heart regarding how the cake should look... 🤣🤣

I honestly just absolutely love how this cake turned out! 👍

I’ll definitely post a photo of my own once I have a decent shot—I haven't even managed to grab the pictures from my guests yet, and goodness knows when those professional shots will actually arrive!

Personally, I was left feeling completely let down; the selection we picked up during our initial tasting was flawless, offering such a wide variety of flavors and textures.
On Friday, just a day before the wedding, I sent my husband and his friend to pick up the pastry boxes for the guests...
When the delivery actually arrived, I honestly felt like sitting down and crying; out of six boxes of assorted treats, four of them were nothing but pies. They technically provided the volume we ordered, but once we started assembling the individual gift boxes, I had to cram half a pound into each one just to make it look presentable. All those wonderful rolls, peach pastries, and specialty sweets meant to fill the variety were dumped into a single box, with only a couple pieces of each kind. What stung the most was finding that they had included the crust scraps from every single type of pastry; how exactly am I supposed to plate a leftover edge of a nut tart? There was also a significantly smaller variety than what we had originally purchased by the pound. While the quality of the pastries themselves was fine—each having its own distinct flavor—it doesn't change the outcome. In the end, I found myself driving to Monica 🙏 to buy three pounds of dry cookies just so those boxes wouldn't look pathetic. Forgive the long vent, but that was my experience, and I highly doubt I will be placing another order with them.

Sure, they’re cheap—but they aren't worth the headache. Why do people assume a lower price tag gives them a license to be incompetent? >😢

So, here are some photos of the cakes

Is this just for one hall, or what's the full setup?

30kg... that's like 0.15kg per person!

Or just go ask them directly how many tables they’re setting up and what the actual portion sizes are supposed to be... because when I looked at the standard guidelines, they were telling me I should be prepping 40 kg for 110 guests! Of course, that was obviously overkill, so I had the nerve to call them out on it, and they finally just gave me the straight numbers on the plate count, and that was that.

Thanks, ladies! I’ve decided against putting them on the individual tables; instead, I'm setting up a dedicated dessert station. The hotel staff suggested ordering about 65 pounds of cookies, but since I’m totally out of my element here, I wanted to see what you all typically order. That still feels like way too much to me 😁

30 kg of cookies at one station!? What is this, a bakery? They're probably gonna rip you off and only give you 10kg 😁
It's pretty simple math—if you have round tables of 10 people, just plan for two plates per person at roughly 1.5 lbs each... that puts you at about 65 lbs total.
Don't be stingy and leave guests without treats at their seats if your whole menu isn't a buffet style where they have to get up anyway.
If people are already getting up to step outside for a smoke, your tables are gonna look empty if there's nothing sweet waiting for them when they sit back down. 😉
