🙂 You really just made my day! I mean, I wasn't exactly doubting you, but hearing it straight from the source feels great. Yay! I guess I’m a bit of a perfectionist myself when it comes to wedding planning—I tend to obsess over every little detail because, to me, everything matters equally.
By the way, what was the issue with the sizing? Personally, I’ve always preferred bite-sized pastries; they just seem sweeter to me. There is so much work involved in cutting them down like that, though, so I suppose it isn't a huge deal either way.

I am seriously, head-over-heels obsessed with how this cake looks! image

Uploaded with Imgur

The only problem is I have absolutely no clue where in Cleveland I can actually find someone to whip something this gorgeous up for me 🤷.. We haven't even settled on a flavor yet, but since my man is picky, we’re probably stuck with at least one layer being Ferrero—even though I’d be way happier with some kind of frosty, creamy combo... Oh, by the way, does anyone know if it's actually okay to bring homemade treats into restaurants, or do they have to have all those official food labels and health department paperwork and stuff?

Usually you have to buy them separately—but honestly, just check with your local restaurant. Most decent bakeries should be able to whip one up by now anyway. Maybe hit up a local bridal expo if there's one happening nearby; show them some photos and you'll see everyone's capable of making it.

Roger Phillips54 said:We went ahead and finalized the order for the cake at the Sweet Secret this past Saturday.

Monica was actually at the top of our list, but the employees and the manager were so incredibly indifferent and checked out that we ended up crossing her name off immediately.
Look, let’s be clear: their cakes are absolutely delicious. I have nothing against the quality of the baking. But when I try to get a straight answer through their messaging system, the experience is just maddening. I reached out to ask about a price hike they mentioned would take effect on March 1st due to the new state sales tax, asking specifically how much the increase would be. Her response? "I don't know, maybe a dollar, maybe two, I'm not sure." Honestly, give me a break. If you're running the show, how can you not have a clue about your own pricing? It's incredibly frustrating.
We’ve decided to move on from them. To be perfectly honest, I just can't stomach working with people who lack backbone or show zero interest in what they're doing.
And they still have the nerve to charge a delivery fee, even when you're practically living right next door to them. It’s a bit much, isn't it? 12 miles.

After that, we decided to head over to the Sweet Secret.
We showed up right after business hours, and since we hadn't called ahead, I decided to give the owner a quick ring just to let her know we were standing on her doorstep. She didn't hesitate for a second—she practically sprinted to open the door. Once we got settled, she and her daughter sat down right there with us. They didn't just give us the cold shoulder or try to rush us out the door; instead, they pulled out their catalogs, started taking notes, and really engaged in the conversation, offering suggestions and talking everything through with us.
They aren't going to charge us for delivery from the warehouse in Chicago to the distribution center in New York. In fact, they’ve offered to throw in a slightly larger cake at no extra cost just to make sure we're satisfied.
The cake features a stunning arrangement of fresh white roses and delicate mini roses—and just to be clear, those floral decorations are at the customer's own expense.
They even went through the trouble of packing up half a pound of assorted cookies for us to take home as a gift.

I prefer to call it "knowing how to sell yourself."
We decided to go big and do three distinct layers for this one. For the base, we went with a rich chocolate infused with Ferrero cream. The middle layer features dark chocolate paired with raspberries, and to top it all off, we finished with a decadent dark and white chocolate parfait—we even tucked a few whole raspberries inside the white chocolate just to get that perfect visual pop.

We couldn't be more thrilled!😍

We also ordered a cake and some pastries from Sweet Secret, though it was back in November of last year. The pastries were great, and the lady there was very polite. Five stars! The cake also had fresh rose decorations, but they were red. For the first and last tiers, we chose Ferrero Rocher, and the middle was yogurt and raspberry. We even got a pound of cookies to take home 🙂. Now we just have to wait until April 14th to see everything come together perfectly at the wedding

Anyone have any experience with cakes from Andric and Kasnar?

I heard some folks on here were having issues with Kasnar. Was she angry? Honestly, I think she was the one giving them trouble—if you dig through her old posts, I’m sure you’ll find the drama.

I can't help but feel a wave of melancholy whenever I stumble upon this thread🙂
it’s just that I don't have any cookies to my name, let alone a wedding cake🙂

Look, feralcrane16, I'm right there with you, but I prefer to take things slow... there's plenty of time as long as we don't hit 🙂
before midnight.
I'm still just browsing through the photos, but this one is currently my favorite:

I knew exactly what I wanted from the start—I just haven't figured out who's actually going to build it for me yet. 🙂My dad put together the stand itself, 😍
but now comes the hard part: finding the right person for the job. 😢

That first link is actually pretty awesome...
I don't think the question is who could pull it off—it's more about whether you're actually ready to foot the bill... 🤷

I know at least one girl who wouldn't have any trouble with that...

not really, Angela Martin2... 😘
a friend of mine is also quite the expert when it comes to baking cakes and pastries—hopefully, she'll be ready to whip something up... 🤷

Honestly, if you even try reaching out to those guys... it’s kind of like trying to order custom cupcakes from a local bakery, you know? http://www.bakery.com/
though I bet if you were ordering a massive batch, they might actually be down to deliver it to you.

I honestly don't think they’d even bother delivering it—the distance is just way too much 🤷
Ah... that's always how it goes for me. I live in a tiny town and end up wanting something that girls living in Washington, D.C. or other major cities take for granted—you know, things that are just totally normal for them... 😢

Is it seriously impossible for anyone over there to get this done? You basically have to go door-to-door just to ask 😁

AndricWe went to a cake tasting session, and honestly, the lady there was such a sweetheart. She gave us some samples to try, but here’s the best part: she actually split them into two separate packages. It was this cute little gesture so we could taste both sides—one specifically for the groom and one for the bride. Such a thoughtful touch.🙂 We ended up getting all these cookies—tons of different kinds, too. They’re those fancy varieties you usually only see being served at big weddings.

They offer free shipping, too—even if you’re living way out in the suburbs or somewhere far beyond the D.C. metro area. You can pretty much work out whatever you need with them. If you want to pull a few specific cookies from their lineup or suggest adding some new flavors that aren't currently in their wedding package, they're totally open to negotiating.

They serve the cookies on these fancy gold-colored plastic trays—if you’re into that sort of thing—and don't worry about an extra charge; those trays are already included in the price.

One kilo, thirty different kinds.$25 Or maybe just one kilo—ten different kinds.$23

Look, everyone’s got their own thing when it comes to dessert. Taste is so subjective that trying to figure out what exactly hits the spot for everyone else is basically impossible. As far as I'm concerned? These treats are pretty damn good.
I’m currently in full-on dessert testing mode. I've still got four more bakeries left on my hit list to hit for some tastings before I make my final call... and who knows, I might just drop a full ranking here once I'm done. 😉 )

ŠimićThey let us try some, too, but most of them aren't really the fancy wedding cake type. It’s more like the stuff you’d pick up at a local farmers market—maybe five different kinds of walnut treats, three or four varieties of those crumbly, crusty cookies, and then some other sweets, like those chocolatey coconut squares.

One kilo? Seriously? You’re looking at maybe fifteen to twenty different kinds of treats there. $27

They’re offering a 10% fair discount, but there's a catch: you only get it if you bundle the cookies and the cake together. If you just want one or the other? Forget about it. No discount for single items. Typical, right?
Just a heads-up: they're charging extra for deliveries outside the Washington, D.C. area. I didn't bother asking about the rates for the city itself or the immediate suburbs, though...

They’ll throw in the basic arrangement for free on a white, slightly flimsy plastic base. But if you’re looking for something a bit more upscale—like a gold-plated, sturdier base—you're going to have to cough up some extra cash. $2.75

The pastries? Some were actually pretty great, others were just... meh. Honestly, I’m struggling to give a fair rating since we didn't get to sample the actual wedding cakes, and there was way less variety than what you’d find at a place like Magnolia Bakery.

All that's left on our list: Kasnar, Relax, a sweet gift, a sweet treat, and maybe eventually Mimi... ☕

Since everyone seems to be hovering right around that $70 mark...$27Look, if I'm going to shell out this kind of cash, I might as well go all in and pick the absolute best of the best.🤷

I really hope I was able to help someone out there.🙂
