I’d highly recommend Sweet Bites near that small town in Indiana. They’re a bit of a drive, but they handle deliveries to Washington, D.C., and pretty much everywhere else without any issues because their service is top-notch and the prices are great. We actually ordered from them, and they’ll ship out to our place in Pennsylvania just fine. Their pastries are affordable, but when it comes to cakes, there’s simply no competition. Everyone else we talked to was quoting us $500 or even more, at least $40 per pound, while Sweet Bites charges nearly half that. 😁

I just sent over an inquiry for some cakes and pastries from Crystal in Milwaukee. For the cake, I was actually thinking about keeping the decoration pretty simple—honestly, I find fondant a bit tacky, if not downright inedible, but I still want to go that route because it just makes the cake look cleaner and more elegant. My vision is a totally minimal, all-white cake adorned with orange butterflies.

Marina Budimir makes these absolutely stunning cakes and figurines—you can totally find her on Facebook.
She might whip up a custom fondant or polymer clay topper for me; she's still deciding. Honestly, she's the only one I trust to actually pull off exactly what I have in my head! 🙂

Personally, I’d go with something super simple. Maybe just order those 3D butterflies from eBay...

slybison88, what's her Facebook profile? I can't find her just by searching her name...

Their pastries are seriously delicious, so I’m crossing my fingers that their wedding cakes are just as amazing!
I'm actually heading there today to finalize everything! 🙂

Thanks so much for the tip. Please let me know how you think the cake is once you get a chance to try it. As for Sweet Bite, we've already heard so many great things about them that I'm pretty sure we'll end up stopping by there too 🙂 .

Fancy cake or Lido?? Help me out here. This is honestly the last thing on my mind right now—I just need to pick a wedding cake and a dessert table for the venue. If any of you have actually looked into their quotes, please tell me if they're worth it! 🙂

So, I just put in my order for some cookies and a cake, though I still need to figure out what shape I want the cake to be! 😬
Basically, it’s going to be a double-decker situation: chocolate on the bottom and raspberry mascarpone on top. 🙂I honestly think it’s gonna be delicious.

So, a close friend of mine had a cake from Fancy Cake at her wedding—I think it was three tiers, something with chocolate and white chocolate, then cream cheese and raspberry, and strawberry with vanilla? Man, I am not even joking, it was hands down the best damn cake I have ever eaten in my entire life. It’s been three years and I can still basically taste it, which is kind of wild when you think about it. 😁 Basically, just go with the fantastic cake. 👍 As for Lido, I haven't got a clue.

Man, I am actually stoked for this! Got a wedding coming up soon where they’re doing full cakes and dessert spreads, and honestly, it’s been way too long since I’ve been to a wedding where the cake wasn't total garbage 👋

I had originally planned to visit some local bakeries this coming May while visiting Washington, D.C., but my partner isn't particularly keen on the idea of me testing out sweets all by myself. Is it too late to schedule a tasting for mid-September if the wedding is set for October 23rd? :/ It’s going to be an intimate wedding, so we will likely only need about 4–5 kg of assorted desserts plus the cake.

Honestly, for an order that small, you shouldn't have any issues at all...

Has anyone placed an order from the bakery recently? A sweet little secret. Are you from that suburban town in New Jersey?

I tried their Sachertorte bites, and honestly, they were absolutely divine. I’m actually starting to think about beefing up my catering menu with something similar.

Ladies, I see everyone is raving about those Crumbl Cookies, but has anyone actually ventured into their cake selection yet?

Ladies, you actually planning on handing out little treats to your guests as a thank-you gesture or what?

At the wedding itself—no, I won't do that when people are heading home that night—but rather the following day at our place (for anyone who actually wants to stop by), I intend to give them cookies, cake, and maybe even some food if there's a massive amount left over.🙂
