Grabbed some cakes and pastries there a few times. They're solid.
The cakes look great and the sponge wasn't dry. Dry cake is usually my biggest pet peeve...

Great! We are heading there tomorrow to give it a try. 😁

Does anyone happen to have experience with the desserts or cakes from Nikolas? That is how she is listed on Facebook.
Generally speaking, does anyone have a recommendation for quality pastries or cakes in Herzegovina?

My girlfriend says those guys from Herzegovina are kind of cookie-ish.

I was thinking about NOA cookies & cakes out of Mostar—I think that's the one—and also Niveska sweet cakes from Gruda🙂

We went with a dessert station featuring fancy cakes. We were honestly a bit skeptical at first—but once we explained the logic to our guests, everyone was on board. Basically, keeping the sweets off the main table means more room for drinks and actual food, plus nobody’s accidentally knocking over a tray of pastries. We were worried people might feel awkward approaching a dedicated dessert area since all eyes are on you, but that was a total non-issue. From the older crowd to the kids, everyone just grabbed a small plate and headed back to their seats. We had a mix of everything—mousses and creams in mini cups, cake pops, macarons, and the classic stuff. Everything disappeared, except for a few of the traditional slices. We’re thrilled with how it turned out. The setup looked gorgeous; as soon as I get a good photo, I'll post 🙂

A freezing wind blowing in from the Columbus area. They had delicious cookies and cake for incredibly low prices—the cake alone served about 100 people $200—and while I can't recall the exact price for the cookies, it wasn't high at all. Everything was eaten down to the very last crumb, which left me feeling quite satisfied.

A little sweet fairy tale coming to you from El Paso—has anyone here actually dealt with them before?

Does anyone have some recommendations for Washington, D.C.? I’d really love to find some hidden gems that aren't totally overhyped, since I think I already know all the usual spots like Mac on the corner and things like that 😁

Glembay. Just look up their Facebook page for cakes and pies under "Glembay."

Anyone here actually tried the cakes from Fancy Cakes or Magnolia lately? I need a solid recommendation for a fondant cake that won't look like total garbage... needs to look high-end, you know?

You can't go wrong with Fancy Cakes; their stuff is incredible. We order from them for everything, birthdays, you name it... Anne is an absolute wizard when it comes to marzipan..

I can't say I was particularly impressed by what I saw. 🕺

So, I suppose we're looking for more cookie options from Washington, D.C., though maybe not just the most famous big-name spots? I think it would be lovely to find some smaller local bakeries—you know, the kind that make things authentically at home, rather than using all that margarine and... well, making things that just don't look quite right.

Does anyone know if their cakes and pastries are actually any good? Has anyone here tried them yet—and more importantly, are the prices reasonable?

Has anyone here actually tried the Grand Marnier bakery?

I happened to spot it while I was out walking down Tratinski the other day. Honestly, all I can say is that they have a lovely storefront and a really charming terrace—though it was quite late on a Sunday, so they had already closed up shop for the night—and the pastries looked absolutely delicious.
Still, I tend to be a bit skeptical when I see such poor ratings online, especially those Facebook reviews.

I’ve used them before—specifically for cupcakes at a bachelorette party 🙂 and for my wedding. We had them both at home and at the venue, and honestly, everything was eaten. We actually ordered an extra 3 lbs at the hall just in case we ran short, and those were finished off too. I was really hoping there would be at least a little bit left over so I could hand some out to people the next day, but in the end, I couldn't give anyone anything because there wasn't a single crumb left. The desserts are delicious. Prices start from $20/lb and go up from there, depending on what you decide to get.

Hi there... where in San Francisco or the surrounding area can I find local cakes and pastries for a wedding? Maybe bakeries like Smith or Good Morning could work...
Is it better to have a dedicated dessert table with all the cakes and sweets, or just put a few small pieces on each individual table?
What has been your experience?
