A quick question,

Since our wedding dinner is being held in a rustic restaurant featuring wood accents and an open hearth, we aren't following a standard course menu. Instead, we are serving traditional regional fare, and even the desserts follow that homemade aesthetic—think walnut cake, poppy seed bread, various pastries, and fruit strudels. I am struggling to decide on a cake that fits this theme. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Chocolate and chestnut flavors are off the table.

I’m actually obsessed with this cake (please excuse the quality; I had to scan it since I couldn't get a decent photo elsewhere)...

image

It’s from that little local bakery here in town—the owner mentioned it was made for a crowd of about 250 to 280 people (though, honestly, I probably need something a bit smaller) and they priced it at around $1,500 to $0.53. Personally, I think that’s a steal. The cake looks incredible, too. My only gripe is that instead of looking for flaws, I’d much rather be looking for calories or pastries. It’s a minor thing, I guess. The bigger issue, though, is that my husband would want a cake on a formal pedestal, not something styled like this. He usually only speaks up when he’s about to veto something I actually want, UNKNOWN 🙂 🙂

Look, just try to subtly nudge him toward your vision. Highlight all the perks of this cake and point out the flaws in his preferred style until he eventually caves to yours. At the end of the day, we’re basically handling almost every single decision and choice ourselves anyway.👍

I’m planning on having a cake surrounded by little Minion cupcakes... so if anyone wants one, feel free to grab it, I guess.

I think that's a great idea.
A Black Forest cake would be perfect in my opinion.

The photo looks familiar; perhaps it's from "Grabar" bakery (if they haven't rebranded)?
The price—and the cake itself—is excellent. I once ordered for 150 guests for $267 at "Luciana"
But you'll eventually win him over so you can have your way with the cake selection—we women tend to understand each other better in these matters, don't we? 👍 I'm rooting for you.

We’re looking at a guest list of roughly 280 people, and we’ve decided to go with a tiered display of individual cakes rather than one massive centerpiece. Basically, just a bunch of standard round cakes stacked on a multi-level stand. Does anyone have a sense of how many of those cakes we’d actually need to feed a crowd of 280? Thanks!

Honestly, you'll have to run that by the bakery where you're placing the order; I suspect their specific cake stands won't be universal.image

I agree.👍

Does anyone know where I can find some cake toppers? I checked at Target, but nothing caught my eye.
Thanks in advance.

Take a peek at http://www.brides.com/—they have a decent selection that might actually be useful to you... honestly, quite a few women just order their stuff online these days!

So, I saw this cake online the other day, but now I can’t find it anywhere—it’s driving me crazy! If anyone happens to stumble upon it 😁 please, please post a picture! It was this three-tier square cake, super smooth finish, maybe with a satin ribbon or some flowers... I think someone mentioned it here already? I did find one with flowers, but those looked fake/made of sugar, and I’m really leaning towards that perfectly smooth, sleek look. Thanks, ladies! 😘

Thanks 😘, I'll take a look.
Is there a specific site for online orders? I tried searching Google, but nothing useful popped up.🙄

Don't even bother looking at their stuff online—honestly, it’s a waste of time. In most cases, what you see on their site isn't actually what they carry in the physical store; the inventory is completely different. You're much better off just driving over and browsing the aisles in person.😉

It’s like you were describing my own... though I already posted some photos a while back. There are tons of them being offered on this forum now from everyone else, too.

Well, that would be the logical way to handle it, but there's a slight complication: my mom is doing the baking. She’s a bit stubborn, to put it mildly, and she insists that we should make the cake based on whatever style we want rather than calculating it by head count. She claims this is how she always does it, yet somehow she can't tell us how many tiers we'd need for 280 people...
And frankly, I don't agree with her approach at all. We want to ensure there is enough dessert for every single guest. As for the stand, we aren't relying on a bakery for that; we have someone making a custom stand specifically to our design. Our vision is to use classic round cakes stacked on that custom structure. My only real dilemma is the math: how many cakes do we need for 280 people? (Half will be lighter fruit and yogurt flavors, while the other half will be richer chocolate and walnut varieties). Please, help me nail down the number.
Thanks.

Zachary Gray35: I went digging through all your old posts but couldn't find 😢. If you happen to stumble upon it, could you please 🙏
?

So, we're looking at a crowd of about 300 to 350 people—pretty huge!—and we're doing this massive three-tier square cake... oh, and I'm actually planning to have another 3 or 4 extra cakes just in case the baker decides to make the main one a little smaller for the bride and groom...
